In many universities in the USA you have to stay in the doorms as a freshman. I think its to force you to meet new people.
@becca11894 ай бұрын
They want to do everything they can to make sure that all students have a support systems. Especially with so many students being from out of town. Some Universities have dorms split up by Major so that students can meet & study more easily with students of different years (& even "network"). I was able to get an exemption because I literally lived across the street from campus with my family. We moved there while I was in high school so that my mom could be closer to work (which was on campus). ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Probably my second favourite premiere episode after Anne. It's hilarious, heartwarming, and does a great job at introducing you to the season. And it has what's become the fans' motto: "What would Buffy do?" So, all-in-all, really good episode. Looking forward to seeing you get into Angel. 🙂

That's weird. Those notes said that Mr. Pointy came from Kendra Young. But Kendra told us in What's My Line (Part 2) that she had no last name.
@becca11894 ай бұрын
Found this on the BuffyFandom website: "Joss Whedon created surnames for Kendra and Faith to be used in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Roleplaying Game supplement Tea & Crossbow. The RPG series was terminated before the book could be published, but the names are considered official, with Faith's notably used in following canonical materials." ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Some professors think that if they are super scary and aggressive on the first day of class, they will have everyone intimidated for the rest of the semester. I don't remember anyone being kicked out of any of my college classes, but I know it happens. And I'm sure some college instructors want to make sure college freshmen know this is college (where they come to learn) and not high school (where they go for friends, food and the other f), so they come down hard the first couple of weeks.

A great opening to the season and to our next chapter of BTVS. I always really enjoy this episode and love Xander once again giving Buffy the confidence boost she needed. ❤ I also really loved Sunday, and went as her for Halloween the year this aired.

Good reaction and start to the new season.Season 4 is a transition year in many ways.The group that was together at the end of graduation is already broken up. High school forced interaction is in the past . Xander and Giles have no reason to interact with Buffy and Willow during school hours and Angel has left and where is Cordelia? But that’s life and the point. At the core of the show is the journey of Buffy to become an independent emotionally strong, mature, and loving woman. People grow up, move away, and change mentally. In America, millions of kids have to make life altering decisions after high school and with their friends. Good luck with the season. It is an entertaining ride

In the US, college and university are sometimes used to mean the same thing, but there are differences: "In the U.S., the term “college" is used to refer to higher education in general and is used interchangeably with “university." Both colleges and universities confer students with bachelor’s degrees (Ross, 2018). However, they also have key differences. For one, a college school tends to be a smaller institution that generally offers one type of degree level. Two-year colleges, for instance, have programs for associate degrees while four-year colleges offer bachelor’s degrees. Colleges generally have smaller class sizes than universities. As a result, colleges mostly focus more on teaching rather than research and students can interact closely with professors and academic advisors. They are also further divided into academic departments, unlike universities, which have schools for different types of majors (Lindsay, 2019). A college can achieve university status when it meets requirements related to the institution, programs, resources, and state accreditation (College Rank, n.d.). However, there are institutions that are technically universities but use “college" in their name simply out of tradition. Examples include Dartmouth College, Boston College, and The College of William and Mary (Lee, 2020). They all offer graduate and professional degrees despite being called colleges (Lindsay, 2019)."

As @Leafsdude said, My second favorite season opener after "Anne". But honorable mentions include a season yet to come. "Anne" was a serious episode, the other two are more geared toward comedy, but there might be another non-comedy opener yet to come. You will figure it out.
@Leafsdude_4 ай бұрын
Don't sell Anne short, it had a lot of funny bits, too. "Hey big boy, come and get it", "I'm Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, and you are...?", "wanna see my impression of Ghandi? *twack*" 🤣
@kendavis80464 ай бұрын
@@Leafsdude_ Yeah, I get it. But that episode one, like this one, showed Buffy in a state of change. "Anne" and "The Freshman" showed us that she could come back to herself. As a future episode does as well, but without spoiling for our reactor, you understand what I mean.

We have a very "chill" culture around higher education in general in Québec. Your experience is similar as mine. Most professors also tend to act quite friendly, even the most "professional" ones. I've talked to french students when I was studying in UQAC and many of them told me about how this is not like that in France. Their society has kept a lot of hierarchical culture so professors are seen as "elite" and Uni students must be very deferential to them. Some people I've talked to also found it weird that some québécois students even tutoient their professors :P I wonder if american culture in university is similar to that of France.

i expect that there was some truth in _the freshman_ at the time it aired, but the general trend in the decades since has been towards apathy and disinterest on all sides.

So the actress who plays the vampire Sunday in this episode also plays Sinéad in the fabulous queer, cult classic film But I'm a Cheerleader.

@@Madbandit77 I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that fan reaction to Sunday was so positive that Joss Weedon regreted killing her off, and toyed with the idea of bringing the actress back to play Sunday's identical sisters (named Monday, Tuesday, etc), but ultimately it never happened.

CEGEP 2 is kind of like the old Ontario Grade 13. Everywhere else, it is between Grade 12 and 1st year university. As far as I understand, university in Quebec is 3 years rather than 4 years everywhere else.

I had to look it up, but you weren't entirely wrong. CEGEP's technical programs (DEC) are, for all practical purposes, the same as a two-year college or trade school in the United States. Four-year colleges & Universities are different, of course. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Liking the new edit in the intro! Little suggestion, if you don't mind, but you should put that music from your intro card behind the whole introduction part where you're talking. Play around with the volume of it, should be very quiet, but it fills in the gaps and makes it flow a little better. A lot of the biggest reaction channels do it and it works well. Nothing wrong with the way you did it, just that it kind of abruptly cuts in while you're in the middle of talking which is a little jarring. Keep up the great content and keep improving, it's only been getting better over time and you'll only keep growing if you put in the effort!

Again one thing you do notice with BTVS as the Seasons progress is how much slicker the show looks with increased budget and special effects. S3 was damn near perfect, and the loss of The High School Years is hard to accept. However, we all have to grow up and it's an interesting progression for Buffy into adulthood with the pressures that brings. It wasn't a bad opener some great little comedy moments as well. The flying spinning stake at the end when Sunday gets dusted is one of the most iconic shots of the whole series. The phone call needs to be kept in mind where Buffy answers and there seems to be nobody on line. Buffy seems to find it hard to accept that Joyce is using her room as a store room, and that Giles has a private life too. Funny ageist reaction from Buffy to Giles likening him to Hugh Hefner here, and saying 'your very old' and its gross', and also the potential for Buffy and Kathy to drive themselves nuts having to share and get used to each others ways. The show here tries to show that break from adolescent to adult that everyone has to go through. Vic you gotta do Angel it's a brilliant show in its own right you will enjoy whatever way you do it.
