A Bronze Age vial discovered in Iran more than 20 years ago and its contents have been analysed by experts to determine the object's age and function. This slim, decorated stone artefact, which was buried in an ancient cemetery and upon examination appears to have been a red lipstick. In this video I discuss the study into this, as well as the discovery of a Bronze Age settlement in Switzerland, the world's oldest bread found in Turkey, a monumental Etruscan tomb, a new DNA study into prehistoric France and a mystery surrounding the Treasure of Villena.

All so interesting! So the western Hunter gatherers had a wife swapping-swinger club going. Yep. That will definitely prevent in breeding! I found one of my wife’s old lipstick tubes in the kitchen junk drawer. Just about like that one you picture there. My last attempt at sourdough exploded in the kitchen. Now I have an excuse to not chase down all the stray dough blobs. I’m supporting future archeology. I’m not lazy, I’m noble. So there is Laura, like Paul Harvey, with “the rest of the story”. Thanks much. Fox out

Wait a minute. You said no lead, but you mentioned galena. Galena usually refers to lead sulfide, which is the naturally occurring form of lead. I actually had a country home in a town called Galena precisely because lead was mined there for a thousand years before white settlers arrived, so the word resonated with me.

They said in the paper very small traces of lead but nothing notable.

I'm a little puzzled by the phrase "and rare crystals called galena" in your first item, as galena is a common mineral, which is chemically speaking lead sulphide. It is the commonest ore of lead.

@@MegalithHunter The penny has now dropped. The authors seem to be using the word "rare" not in its most frequent meaning of "uncommon" but in its less frequent meaning of "few and far between". None of the authors would appear to be native English speakers. So, they've done very well.

Very informative as usual. But you must do more research, of only to avoid the errors, such as "meteorotic", and mispronunciation of Çatal Hüyük & h-aitch.
