@@peterfey9921 lucky/unlucky man - condolences on your loss. The AWD was 100kg heavier and it had slightly less HP so it accelerated slower and used more fuel than a FWD Magna. However, when the road surface turned loose or slippery, it ruled the road. The rear diff had an LSD and it was from the Lancer EVO and the 5-speed auto was also from the Lancer EVO. I so with I could have one today!

The exhaust note sounds great when it’s open, nice work. Definitely don’t take a resonator off thou, as these motors get raspy too easily. The clicking part is the Air Mix Heater Control Motor that controls hot and cold air, so it’s pretty important. It’s worth getting it changed, I ordered the part off eBay, then got an auto electrician to do mine, but you can do it yourself too.

Generally speaking I'd like to thank you for all the hard work you put into sharing your motoring adventures, I look forward to watching your videos..I've been playing around with cars for about 30 years, and while I can't always find as much time as I want to put into them, i always feel better about life when I'm fixing, cleaning or improving one of them....never had any "hero" cars, just cheapish autos that are easy to get parts for...current roster includes a BA Fairmont, 2000 Corolla Seca Hatch , Daihatsu Sirion and Honda Jazz..plus a motorcycle and two scooters. The new exhaust is quite high tech I think, just the way you can switch between quiet & loud. Ralliart Magna's were always quiet, but had a nice high tech sporting sound. Same with the TJ VRX. Your clicking with the climate control baffled me as I've never even heard of this problem before. The only thing I could think of is that a passenger who is tall & has big feet might've accidentally banged it out of place a little. You seemed to have popped it back into position regardless Sean.😅 I had a friend who had a Ralliart Magna, but it had a tow bar that he didn't want when he purchased it. Unfortunetly someone bored a hole into the panel to install it. But it actually worked out well for him in the end, he found a highly experienced panel beater who cut down a bit further around the back surrounding the hole to the left & right & welded fibre glass over the area. The job was done in such a perfect way that you couldn't even tell that there was any difference. The only difference was when he went to weigh the car, it dropped by 5kg in weight. He wanted to do alot more of the car this way, but that panel beater retired so it was impossible. But might be worthwhile looking into Sean😅

that air con clicking problem is the same in FTO's and mirages , its when it changes from recirculating to outside flow, i found even if you press the recirc button when you next start the car it tries to change it back or when you change temp. to stop this hit the recirc button so that its closed to outside air and instead of using the off button to turn it off use the fan down button. this tends to save the recirculating setting and not get stuck in the clicking from the start up sequence.

Hey mate, if the Magna is anything like the EVO 5 (which iirc the actuator motors are the same), there are 3 actuators (possibly only 2 in the magna?). They run a small metal arm between the actuator motor and a flap and control air recirculation, hot/cold air and vent direction (footwell, demister, etc). My Hot/cold actuator was borked in the 5, doing the exact same thing as yours is and it meant I only ever got hot air...not the best in Summer. New exhaust sounds great! :)

The source of the air con clicking is the internals of the heater bypass vent actuator. One tooth breaks off and then every time the climate control goes to adjust the mixture of cold and warm air it will click.. check your replacement for a broken tooth if you can’t find a brand new one. Another common Magna problem 🤷‍♂️

Sounds really good, and I like the idea of being able to make it quiet (although bi-modal mufflers are illegal, but if you have it closed cops probably won’t even check the exhaust). As for the clicking, that HVAC actuator might be broken. My nan’s VE had a similar problem with the actuator that changes the fan direction, which was located up inside the dash, so I had to lay down in the driver’s side footwell and replace it

When closed sounded very much like the VRX/GTVi exhaust which I enjoyed but a bit drony on freeway cruising. Even the standard 3.5 145kw motor had a good sound. Imagine if the 3.6 in the VZ-VF11 Commodore sounded like the Mitsubishi 6g7 motors instead of the bucket of rusty bolts you hear rattling around the suburbs. Does having the exhaust open provide any more torque and power? I'm guessing around 5% maybe but not sure. Put a 2.5 inch exhaust on a V6 VN Commodore in the 90's and added about 25 extra kw. Made a huge difference and made the car heaps smoother and pretty bloody quick.

Not sure if you've figured out the clicking noise but B series falcons that are equipped with climate control have a shitty plastic cog inside an actuator which operates the dual zone climate control that is very common to breaking (much like the shitty plastic cogs that break in the door actuators). Not sure if the Magna has a similar set up, but at least you have access to it, whereas with the Fords it's a dash out job.

The clicking is the duct flap motor trying to go past it's standard range of motion. In my Mk5 VW Golf you can do a factory reset of all the HVAC actuators by pressing a few buttons and the VCM runs all the doors and divertors through their range, noting how far they get, and setting new boundaries. In this car you might have to pull the dash out and reset the actuator motor so it doesn't chew the teeth off the gear it interacts with and you're permanently stuck with recirculated air.

There was the TMR 380. Be interesting to put that motor into a Ralliart Magna. The TMR 380 had a very restrictive exhaust system, so slotting them into a car that weighs 200kg less with a much better exhaust system should give you over 300kw. Well even the 30 Sprintex Supercharged Ralliart Magna's had roughly 250kw.

@@anthonysvideos3000 It's like with the Mitsubishi Cordia. Some of them had 200kw secretly slotted into the line up. When you consider that they only weighed 975kg, made them a rocket ship. Like the ones on the Police force. Mitsubishi always put in place a couple of halo examples into it's line up😁

For me personally, one thing you don't want to do is go too small or insufficient with the resonator. They are quite raspy and that can really ruin what is a beautiful note.

I know nothing of the magna but I knew it would be an actuator as soon as I heard the noise. Likely if you pulled it down. The arm is in the wrong position. Or the internal gear onto the arm is stripped/ out of alignment with the arm teeth. I'd put money on it being the temperature blend door, seeing as you caused it while winding the temp up. Do you have hot air coming out of the vents on full heat. Aaaahhh, you pulled that unit out for the heater core. Maybe you knocked the pivot arm on the actuator past it's normal sweep?. If the unclipped the black plastic lock and then pull the rod. Can you manually operate the flap? Does the actuator complete a normal sweep?
@secretsquirrel9722
@secretsquirrel9722 Жыл бұрын
In rewatching. You can definitely see from the angle of the flap arm. That is the plane(direction) in which it should be pushed or pulled by the actuator. So either the flap is jammed in one position. Or the actuator is having an issue internally. Either way, if you go back and watch it. The angle you took the shot means the arm must move straight away from the camera. With the pivot point of the actuator arm is on the right. You manually forced the actuator arm, so the pivot point is now to the left. You will have to remove it now. Once the actuator is removed and if the flap is not jammed internally after the heater core job. By manually completing the full sweep of the flap using the rod will easily show you how the actuator "should" operate.

hi sean, when you pull a dash apart like you did some cars need to have the hvac actuators realearn ther start stop positions using a scan tool. might be your problem. you also may have buggered it when you gave it a bit with the bar lol. might be worth researching if the magna has a relearn and maybe replace the acctuator
