Time to give the Mitsubishi Magna Ralliart's engine bay a bit of a clean up! We're using quality Bowdens Own products, plus an awesome new engine cover sticker which I designed and had printed locally. The end result speaks for itself! #motoringbox

I use their blue Wash & Wax, looks better than any of the others I've used. Will have to pick up a few of the engine bay cleaners tomorrow after the way the Magna came up

Use 303 protectant spray, its the best and has a uv protectant in it, plastic looks brand new without the greasy gloss.

Engine bay came out exceptionally well Sean. When restoring, we don't want a garage queen that'll never hit the road. As long as it's done in showroom condition it'll be a head turner regular driving car. My Holden VY S ute was painted 7 years ago & it still looks like it's been sitting in the showroom even though I drive it most days.

WOW another use for the fabulous agent orange. Well done Sean. The Magna's looking clean as a whistle. I've used the trye foam in the engine bay with great results and even oven clean on seroiusly bad bits(not plastics of course) but if the agent orange with a bit of brush work will do the job then I'm in. Great jod again Sean and another fabulous vid.

A hack for anyone applying vinyl stickers to their car: spray where the sticker is to be placed with water and a few drops of car wash. This way if you're not happy with the result you can reposition the sticker. Use an absorbent cloth to squeegee the water out when sticker is positioned to your liking.

Dam it finished up great. Good job. I love Bowdens products as well although never used the vinyl spray on the plastics under the bonnet. I generally use a type foam which also does a great job. Recently I asked Authentic Collectables model car company why they have never made models of Magnas. The reply was they were never popular. What a joke. Everyone’s who reads this should contact them to prove them wrong. You must be nearly finished this build and I love it.

If the tyre foam contains silicone over time it will turn the engine bay plastics grey because of the heat from the engine plus the oil found in silicone.

@@ilikechickensausages2075 not sure you need to use it more than once in a blue moon, or as I did... when i first purchased my car. I also hosed it off after it had done its job. I just checked the can and it doesn't mention any active ingredients. just hydrocarbon aerosol. so use it sparingly I suppose. ?!.

@Motoringbox MY 'secret weapon' has always been armourall tyre and wheel foam! Spray on, and you're done (used it for my Corvettes also when I had them, which saw many car shows) ;)

Great Job.....Next time when applying decals use Dishwashing liquid in a bottle and spray the surface the bubbles will come out as you apply the decal...A lot easier an old detailers trick...Keep up the good work Really enjoying your build / process !!

I use window cleaner on plastics, it really does a great job at removing gunk. And its cheap.

@@MotoringBoxTV I know a lot of Ralliarts made their way north from Tassie over the years. There were a lot of them down here once, i used to see them quite often on the roads here, but I haven’t seen one for a couple years now aside from mine which is rarely driven, but I know of a few tucked away, my mate Andrew has 3 of them, red, white and a black one. There’s a guy in south Australia that’s been trying to buy mine for a few years, he must know they’ll be a modern classic one day 😉 I’ve had mine since new and I couldn’t sell it 😂

Good inspiration (aka guilting me into motivation…). My Alfa has been working it’s arse off lately with many interstate trips with a trailer moving house, and it’s looking a bit sad. I need to do it’s big 30K service, and a proper clean of the engine bay is very much in order.

Hi Shaun. Are you able to get me a closer look at those VSV's on the front bank? They look extremely similar ro those on my 3VZFE engined Camry. On my car they control the fuel pressure reg and I think the canister purge or something. I'm just wondering who makes them and if they're compatible and perform the same function as my Denso units.

@@MotoringBoxTV No plans. My car has over 280,000kms, keep it maintained and it still drives nice and smoothly. Funny fact: I took my future car for a test drive when it was new back in 2000. It was sold at the same dealership (Launceston) as your Ralliart was sold but was used as a demo near where I live. I have new old stock KJ KL KW Verada GTV/GTVi rims on my car.
