I definitely like seeing these videos, Brandon. Here in Ohio, I had closed cell foam insulation sprayed in my shop. 4" in the roof and 2" on the walls. That left me room to run electricity behind the plywood walls. It worked great for our cold winters. Take care and be safe. Bill

I like the way you are leaving air gap between the insulation layers it will pay off.

Id recommend the foil facing out so your air gap is larger.

Thanks for the video. For the insulation experts out there, I’m curious if “some insulation is better than no or less insulation”. To clarify my question, I have a similar steel building project that I am working on and am currently putting up foam board insulation from the floor up 8’ and then will frame walls and install tongue and groove 3/4” plywood. There is the contractor installed insulation that is installed between the girts/purlins and the steel panels and I am adding the foam board over this to up the R-value. Right now I do not plan to put foam panels the rest of the way up the walls (I might later on) and definitely am not going to try to add them to my ceiling. Can I expect any better results if only part of the building has increased R-value? Thanks.

Air gap is important but don't forget AIR SEALING.

I had to do a similar gap for my attic insulation and what worked great was just ripping thin strips of insulation and using foamboard adhesive to tack those into the sides, then doing the same for the full piece over the top. So there is no chance the board moves or closes the gap

Hello…wondering after some years. How did the insulation hold up?

Would you do the thin insulation at build time again or just skip it and do the foam board?

Best is to do it yourself with like thin strips of wood added/glued to your metal and then putting it over it so it has an air gap between the metal and it should work how its suppose to. The installers just attach it to the frame.
