Yeah buddy, Destin is by far the best IGN guy. Really enjoying his new personal channel! He's one of the few journalists (Jeff Grubb, Miles Dompier and Jez Cordon included) that lives in reality and actually understands Xboxs long play with Games Pass. Hey Rand, Would like to see Scalebound come back. That was a very interesting looking game. Would also like to see another Ryse. The first Ryse looked great on the Xbox 1. It was some evidence showing what happens what a dev can do with a properly utilized game dev kit. Another Ryse would look fantastic on the Series X/S. Would like listen to your show live, but I am doing semiconductor work on our manufacturing shop floor. Thanks Rand

Nate isnt an Xbox leaker. So its not him and Nate has a huge record of accuracy, he's been wrong about some things but he's more right than wrong and he doesnt focus on Xbox, like I said. @@R0ndras I won't claim he isn't more right than he's wrong. Here's my issue: It's not that *he* has a record of accuracy. He has a record of piggybacking off what is already reported by others and/or putting out vague, general statements with a healthy dose of common sense (AKA safe predictions). How so many people still buy into his BS is insane to me. If you can point me to a story he himself broke before anyone else that no one could have reasonably predicted, I'll reconsider.

Putting GamePass (even just first-party) on PS5 would hurt Xbox. Yeah, people would subscribe either way on Xbox or PS5, and the number of subscribers would not go down but for sure the number of Xbox sold would go down. And yeah I get it, the numbers of consoles sold isn't the metric MS uses for success anymore, but you still need to maintain a minimum marketshare so that 3rd-party continue to see the value in porting their games to Xbox. This is why Stadia see few ports, and why this whole Xbox gen we lacked JRPG support until GamePass became a thing. I get the importance of growing the number of GamePass subscribers through means other than Xbox consoles and PC, but they have to be smart about it and not do it in a way that would hurt the core Xbox fans.

I agree with you, gamepass on switch and ps isnt needed because gamepass will be on the web,phones, and smart tvs. I just dont understand Xbox's end goal. Is it to sell consoles, games, or Gamepass? If they dont care about console sales then why waste resources making the most powerfull console? If they care about gamepass subs then why are Xbox 1st party games on Steam, a platform where gamepass doesnt exist? If they care about game sales then why havent they gone multiplat already?

@@Brandon-lc2hw Microsoft are big on meeting their customers where they are. They pitch first and best on Microsoft hardware, but aren't so stubborn as to force people to have to choose a single platform. Just look at all of the platforms you can purchase Office software for example. Personally, I don't see them bringing Gamepass to PS anytime in the next few years, because they don't need to. But what happens when they get a massive Xbox install base that is comparable to PS? Do they consider it then? Essentially, Xbox games are multiplat because they also support the massive market that is on PC.

@@Brandon-lc2hw I think Microsoft making the world's most powerful console is more about making Xcloud servers than actual consoles themselves. The Series X doubles as a server blade and honestly It's a really smart model, as it allows Microsoft to kill two birds with one stone. Users can buy their own home server if they want, or they can use a cloud one instead

@Console Gaming Maybe, but I feel that the difference is that xCloud is not targeting the console buying audience. xCloud is targeting people who don't buy consoles or play on PC. There will always be the audience that prefers native hardware over streaming, who would continue to buy Xbox even when xCloud launches.

That's the entire point of the existence of the Xbox Series S. From its tiny size and price, it is practically designed specifically to act as a secondary console. That's already the incredible low point of entry to the Xbox ecosystem for people who prefer native hardware. xCloud will soon run games at 1080p, matching the performance of Xbox Series S. Therefore, if their PS5 can stream Xbox games through xCloud, why would they buy the Xbox Series S?

So if you look up the Xbox VR stuff, Jiz was saying he thought it was a wrong translation... No it really wasn't. It said something like "Please update your VR headset" Also I just bought an Oculus Quest 2, and actually I know Jiz said that the Oculus' headsets haven't sold out at all... Well in San Diego it was sold out at Target and Walmart, and the two Game Stops by me. I got it at a Game Stop I don't go to normally and they only had 2 others left. I really hope Xbox partners with Oculus, it's really fun honestly.

$15/mo for XCloud does make sense because you dont have a machine with graphical power to play on. You have to use a machine that microsoft has, that is reserved while you are using it. Hence the extra $5.

Sony bought evo to secure their fighting game marketshare. I have a friend in the circuit who says it's almost impossible to find anyone in tournaments playing on anything other than playstation.

I haven't had a Facebook account in 6 years. Have not missed it. I just got the Oculus Quest 2, and I just made a bull shit Facebook account just to sign in to Oculus. You don't have to put any pictures, have any friends, or even post at all. So for all of the complaints about the Facebook account requirement for Oculus... Just make a bull shit blank account (takes 3-5 minutes tops) and you are all good. Not to sure why that seems to be the major barrier that keeps people from getting the Quest 2... But for $399 with no need to have a baller computer, you can have WIRELESS VR with way higher pixel resolution than PS VR

01:44:30 it’s not a self fulling prophecy. MS tried it with the 360 tried it and no one bought them. The 360 was also beating the ps3 at the time. They also did that in reverse where it came out on the 360 first and ps3 later and the jrpgs titles still sold more on the ps3. 02:07:30 sony bought evo for cheap because they want their platform to be used at tournaments. Sure sony can make their own FG tournament, but evo is still consider the ‘championship.’ Capcom has their capcom cup and evo is still seen as the championship tournament. This also makes it so lesser tournaments used their platform. This happened during the 360/PS3 era, FGs performed better on the 360 (1-2 frames better response on SF4 and especially MvC3) and most tournaments started to change to 360, but when it got closer to evo they switched back. A lot of people are switching to PC for FG tourneys because it performs better and the coff and sony doesnt want that. It’s easier to just get evo for cheap.

IMO it’s not about which platform these games sell more on. It’s about balancing cost of development vs profit of sales and wondering why many Japanese studios don’t even bother porting to a 40-50 million platform; let alone PCs with a larger # of potential consumers. That mentality seems very prevalent among the Japanese industries. Despite the growing popularity of anime in the West, many anime producers still wait months/years to release their shows. Anime is commonly made to encourage manga and merchandise sales but late-released shows don’t gain the same level of advertising and hype that drivers those associating sales. How can any market grow if they continue to neglect the wider audience and fail to serve potential long-term consumers?

It's almost like saying Westerners only like shounen anime because of DBZ and Naruto in the early 2000s, therefore, seinen or slice-of-life should not be promoted/released now in 2020s. Same applies for video games.

The value of Konami games is Pro Evolution Soccer. Sells tens of millions across the globe annually. The last two games have also hit gamepass close to release date. The Series X dreams announce video prominently featured a football game, it is not outside of the realms of possibility that Microsoft buy Pro Evolution Soccer studio from Konami. Don't discount the appeal of football games for the masses, even if they don't appeal to hardcore gamers.

I think Gamepass will come to Nintendo and Playstation but in a limited form. It won't be the full Gamepass as seen on actual Xbox Microsoft devices. Some games will be exclusive to Microsofts family of devices. Streaming services do this already like if you get Hulu you get HBO MAX free but it's not the full HBO MAX it's a limited version of it, if you want the full HBO Max you need to subscribe to it. This is a strategy I think Microsoft will apply to it, but instead of subscribing to get the full experience, you play on a Microsoft platform.

Wouldn’t you agree that the 499,- Euro are much better spent for the PlayStation 5 than for the Xbox Series X; simply because you will get Game Pass games as 4K cloud gaming service eventually even if you do not have a PlayStation 5, whereas you will not get PlayStation games as an owner of the Xbox Series X.

Xbox Gamepass doesn't need to go on Switch or Playstation. Each company needs to just focus on their own ecosystem. Why boost competition and kill your own system when you can keep people in your devices where you can also make more money off them. Are people so scared for Sony and Nintendo to die that they feel Xbox has to share? All brands can stand on their own.

Gears of War is sso last gen. Don't get me wrong it was a great franchise, and I guess Gears 5 was the crowning jewel but the movement mechanics and the shooting, combat mechanics are all just so dated now, it's like a cross between the Division or Outriders and Tales from the Borderlands. I pray they don't try and make a Gears 6, just keeping it real.

Rand - outer worlds does not “run well” it has the same asset streaming stutter the pc version has, unfortunately - in spite of my vrr screen, even in 120hz mode (yes the mode can help with stutters even in games that are 60fps, and improves latency)

Can you please stop with CDPR hate? Yes they fkd up, released unfinished game that shouldn't be on last gen consoles. That said - it's far from disaster. Even with all the bugs it's still 85 Metacritic on PC, Windows Central gave it perfect score. Looking at this 5/5 - constant critique from Jez sound kidna cheap now. What was it again? "Cyberpunk 2077 PC review: Joining industry legend as a contender for best game ever made". So yeah Jez... that happen huh? Not to mention your take on CDPR financials is laughable at best. CDPR somehow dependant on Polish government? Dude, if you listen to Iwinski and Kicinski they really are not the fans of right conservative politicians that are on the top now. I heard my great government is actually investigating them after CP far from perfect release. But that's not cause they care about gamers, they just look for reason to fine them - since CDPR is one of biggest polish companies and goverment is greedy by design. As for grants - yes they took some. Like 10M PLN? for some technology bs. There was a chance to take some freebes from government - why not do so? It's not like they had to give some shares... This seriously boggles my mind - just do your damn research before spewing nonsense. How much do you think they spend every month to their employees? How much do you think they earned by selling at least 13M copies of the game? You really think 2.5M dollars from government means anything? Its a frickin droplet... And on that note - after they recuperated CP2077 production costs with just preorders and on top of that sold additional 5+ millions copies of the game you really think they need money? @@professorsolo6484 No they don't. Noone deserves slander. Sorry people like you make me defend CDPR, company that deserves all the criticism from gamers who bought CP2077 on last gen consoles. On base PS4 and XBONE game is still in unacceptable state even now 3 months after release. That said Jez should think twice before criticising CDPR after glowing review I mention before. I can’t respect people who don’t stick to their guns and just jump on a hate train when it’s convenient.
