No matter how wrong they are proven to be. In some instances, that can be very honorable and good. For instance, when Joe Budden fired Rory, Mal immediately and fiercely went to bat for Rory. So Rory very likely will always feel indebted to Mal for how he stood with him in a time of adversity. Conversely, Mal's now "Anti-Joe-Budden" stance (which is very likely intertwined with his recent industry relationship with Drake) has made Mal have absolutely no objectivity whenever Drake's name is mentioned. Complex had a greatest rappers ever list a few years back that had Rakim ahead of Drake and Mal got vocally mad at the list in a way that was frankly disrespectful to Rakim and his legendary influence on rap. Recently, him saying that if Black Thought and Drake are rapping at the same time, no one is gonna go see Black Thought because "no one wants to hear that shit", another instance of him being dismissive and disrespectful to Hip-Hop in favour of his loyalty to Drake. Or him saying that Drake didn't lose to Pusha T (even though Drake himself admitted to losing to Pusha T) Or Mal going off on Nelly when it was found out that the majority of Country Grammar was written by Ali from St Lunatics and calls him 'Not Hip-Hop'. But when multiple reference tracks of Drake keep leaking year after year (4 reference tracks leaks from Quentin Miller, 3 from PartyNextDoor, Oz, Lil Yachty, Cash Cobain, Vory..... Or his other rumored writers like BEAM or Daylyt. Or artists who have had songs more-or-less stolen from Drake like The Weeknd or DRAM or XXXTentacion...) When all of this is revealed, Mal just makes excuses for it and sweeps it under the rug. Or when Kendrick challenged Drake in April on 'Like That', Mal, instead of talking as a fan of Hip-Hop and a Hip-Hop media personality, he was already making preemptive excuses for Drake before Drake had even responded. Saying things like "Kendrick, you think you're on his level but you're not" or "Drake can choose to respond or not respond and if he does respond, he can do it multiple months from now because he's the biggest rapper in the world, and the biggest rapper in the world can respond whenever he wants to" while telling Kendrick that he needed to drop his tracks asap. I used to be a big supporter of Mal as a Hip-Hop media personality and Hip-Hop insider. I fully believed in his self-proclaimed defender of "morals, honour, integrity" or him calling out actions that are "Not Hip-Hop". I used to view him as the reasonable, fair-minded, integrity-minded, incorruptible Hip-Hop insider that wouldn't let industry relationships or personal vendettas or personal agendas get in the way of the objectivity, fairness and integrity of his takes. (Basically I thought he was like the 'anti-Joe Budden') But his exaggerated blind partisan stan bias for Drake has completely changed my view on Mal. His "integrity, morality" schtick has lost all credibility. Mal just picks a side, without being properly informed or educated about it, and stand by it forever, no matter what new information comes in, he won't admit to being wrong. Just like he took an affinity to Trumpp because of how "entertaining" he found him and because he took a liking to his "entertaining personality", he now defends anything he says or does no matter fucked up it is.
