He kicked everyone out of the studio and sat on the floor crying while it recorded and just spoke out loud in the last part.

Great reaction! His mom died when he was 18 Nate said that getting older he started seeing life with a more open mind, instead of just what he thinks, he has more empathy and compassion for his mom, and although he doesn't know everything personally about her, he believes she had many things she struggled with inside, and he understands that sometimes people becoming addicted to things because they are running away from something. He was obviously sad when he wrote this song but also angry, he felt all his life like the pills were more important than him, but now he has a different perspective on what happened to his mom (These are things he said in some interviews) To record the last part where he cries he asked everyone to leave the studio, so he was left alone to "talk to his mom", then they took only the most important parts and put them in the song Anyway yes, he went to therapy and is still going there. He went after the first perception tour to a therapy place for four days because he was in the darkest place he had ever been and was extremely depressed. He said in some interviews who is continuing to go to the therapist (it seems to me every week) and when he is on tour he makes sure to keep talking to him through phone calls. He said he avoided the therapist for a long time but now he needs him

One of the most emotional songs/videos ever made. And, I have to say ... as much anger as he vents toward his Mom, he portrays her in such a beautiful, sad, sympathetic way in this video. I think that is where all his pain comes from.

This song breaks my heart every time. I grew up surrounded by addicts. My mom was a heroin addict when I was 0-11 then she became an alcoholic and then she went onto methodone to get clean but became addicted to that. My aunt was also addicted to heroin and other drugs and my grandma was an alcoholic for 40 years. They all got clean and I’m lucky I never lost any of them, I nearly lost them a few times but they all made it out the other side but it still hurts me to this day and it’s been almost a decade since I got out of there. When he says “why do I feel like I lost something that I never had” that hits hard, as I never have and never will have a proper relationship with any of my family because of their addictions.

He never went to Therapy until he had his breakdown between Perception and The Search. When you get to it listen to Interlude and Hate Myself which explains his breakdown, anger is easy to show but anger really hides fear, frustration and hurt.

This song hits on a personal level because i lost my birth mom to a pill OD about a year n half ago. Its hard because you blame yourself like what could i have done to help them more. Or why didnt i notice she needed help. Addiction tears familys apart, and leaves people broken and brokenhearted

He actually went to therapy for the first time directly after comimg off the perception tour. He checked himself into a four day intensive treatment center. That's where he was diagnosed with a form of OCD. Now he says therapy is his favorite place to go. Many people have said this song should be played at rehab centers to try to achieve exactly what you said.

Good stuff love the discussion. I know NF said in an interview he doesn’t feel the same way about his mom but his music is a way to cope. I’m thinking about how one of you said if he didn’t go through this he wouldn’t be the NF we know today.

I always thought the ties to anger and sadness is vulnerability of it you know the feeling that you get when you feel as if you shouldn't be crying but you should be angry you feel as if the tears shouldn't be there it's not that you're crying it's the fact that you feel that the tears are not deserved and yet still you can catch yourself weeping first before anger

Thanks for the reaction. You are both separate sources of "thought," which is why your logics overlap/oppose often, by nature. Great points about the content of the music! Just a friendly recommendation (in a psychological point of view: since neither of you are "naturally" a source of "feeling," your videos are "felt" colder relative to the others on the same song. It's pretty okay, really. All I want yo say is that you need to express and exert more energy, consciously, to "produce" such liveliness and warmth which is potentially the cherry on the cake. I really love to elaborate on that, but it would be lengthy. I see you are flexible even when conveying counter-arguments (ideas), and that's really cool! A little bit of flavour of consciously produced warmth and liveliness will make your videos even more fantastic! Thanks a lot… 🖤

Sad thing is when you are hooked on the drugs, you do realize what you do to people and how it affects everyone around you. And the pain you get from that is just another problem that the drugs numb and suppress. It sounds selfish af to someone that hasn’t had a drug problem. Addiction is a hell I was lucky enough to get out of

They really don’t my mom left me and my brother at 14, homeless, alone, and unloved. I just recently found peace with it, I spoke to her after I had my son and she wanted to be here and help and such. I knew not to get attached because it was a faze before she started getting back into it. To much info lol but I feel the pain in this song so much I feel ever word it’s insane! Love the reaction though !

Your types are blessed with Introverted Thinking (logic/logos) + Extroberted Feeling (ethics/empathy), while some other types are blessed with Introverted Feeling (morals/sympathy) + Extroverted Thinking (rationale/external facts). I hope you read these :)

Oh, and one more thing! I didn't mean you are emotionless or anything like that, really. The point is, "internally," you both access your thoughts way easier than your feelings and emotions. As a sign, pay attention to your facial expressions throughout this emotional video. Again, I'm sure you've felt the pain deep inside, because you are "empaths" (not sympaths), but if you watch other reactions to this song, nearly all of them cry during the stream… On the other hand, most of them lack the logical breakdowns you both skillfully do. That's because they are mostly feeling-oriented "internally" (being sympaths). That's why I called that flavour addition the cherry on the cake…!
