The Caps recorded the most wins of any team in the 2010s, also we were the only team to win three Presidents' trophies, and the only team to win at least seven division titles. I am optimistic that we will win at least one more cup this decade.

Loved this video, I dont know if this would take too much time but a breakdown of teams playoff success for each year would be nice for earlier years that arent as fresh in our minds. Like you could say "blank team" made it to the first round in 1982,84 and 87. Keep up the great stuff.

Great video idea. Largely agree with your rankings, but as a Blues fan Im a bit biased that we should be ahead of San Jose, and I think even San Jose would agree. Blues were frustrating at times because they didnt do all they could, sure. But they had a cup, multiple trips to the conference final, and beat san jose in the playoffs 2 out of 3 times this decade. (Once in 2012) The Blues also never lost a series in which they were up 3 games to 0....just gonna throw that out there lol

As an Avs fan, I am pleasantly surprised to see us at 21st. We had a couple of nice playoff runs the last couple years, and a couple others in 2010 and 2014, but we made it past the first round only once. Looking back at 2011, 2013, and of course 2017... this decade has some of the worst memories for us. Now I don't want to complain, because you clearly stated how our future seems to be quite bright, so coming out of this decade, we are happy fans. Thanks for the stellar content as always Shannon!

Also can't argue with the top four since there was a ten year period where if you weren't one of those 4 teams you straight up were not allowed to win the stanley cup, and in the two years after you had to beat at least one of those teams to win it.

That's my guess for the top Eight, but I'm worried I left someone out and I don't know how much your playoff success points are worth. If I were to sort them my way I'd say Chicago, Pittsburgh, Washington, Boston, LA, Tampa, St. Louis, NYR. Same teams very slightly different order, I think regular season success should matter more significantly than it seems you rate it. This does restore some faith in the regular season as a predictor for playoff success for me though.

I thought there could be a count back, where the NHL will select completed games so all teams will be uniform in total completed games home/away and division/conference (not as important), so a team that is in playoffs are out after the levelling countback that could be introduced, Presidents, GMs and fans maybe could be vocal on this introduced system or leaving as if, without completed regular season. Same with NBA. But it appears this won't be ever addressed or even mentioned.

Here's why the Sharks are above the Blues. Playoffs 9/10 years, 1 Cup Final, 4 Conference Finals, Past 1st round 6/9 Times. VS Playoffs 7/10 years, 1 Cup Champ, 2 Conference Finals, Past 1st round 4/7 times. Not taking anything away from the Blues last year but the Sharks were definitely the more consistent and better team over those 10 years. Also, both times the Blues made the Conference Finals, they played the Sharks. Hate on the Sharks all we want but we can't deny how consistently good, & even dominant at times, they were over the decade.

As someone who skipped to the end... How can you have the Blackhawks as number 1 right now??? Don't you know it's Detroit! They haven't lost a game in days! I don't see them losing a game in April either... In all seriousness the Blackhawks were amazing this decade. The talent acquisition is top notch. The fact that they not only draft well but find gems like Panarin is crazy

Missing hockey. Hoping that Hockey Night In Canada will put on a hockey related broadcast. I'd even be happy with the intermission crew talking hockey and playing clips of important things of the year and talking potential future ideas to complete the season.

I think it is pretty sad that the highest a Canadian team is on this list is 12. Not to mention, that the highest-ranked Canadian team, plays in the Canadian city, which has by far the warmest winter. To me, the coldest NHL cities should be the ones that wins the most Stanley Cups. Because remember hockey is played on ice and you will not find ice anywhere in Florida unless you tossed water into a freezer.

2016-2017 and 20-17-2018 the caps vs pens series were legit the Stanley cup finals. Whoever won between the two were no doubt winning the cup and Unfortunately pens got the best of caps twice. Caps couldn’t been the team with 3 cups

@thehockeyguy, let’s please set the record straight... The Sharks got to the 2019 conference final with guts, skill, and something every team ever has or doesn’t have at random, puck luck. The thing everyone’s salty over is referee incompetence, something much like puck luck, is random and indiscriminately helpful or hurtful. Last year’s Round 1 was Vegas’ to lose. Everyone remembers them giving up 4 goals in 5 mins, but everyone also conveniently forgets that they had won 3 out of 7 games by game five and then subsequently lost each game they needed until they were knocked out. In Round 2 we went game for game with the Avs for seven games. The offsides dispute in game 7 was a challenge any coach would’ve taken, and it worked out because of the randomness of the ref’s decision. The hand pass in Round 3 was an act of duress in scrambled melee. Timo was trying to get it on his stick, he got checked by a Blues player, the puck ended up on another players stick and they scored. Again, the refs could’ve called it but they didn’t. All of the Sharks were ready for the call but it never came. So I ask again, aside from haters simply being haters, how are the Sharks the arbiters of their own controversy? We played hard during the whole run; lost our captain twice, Cooch lost like half the teeth in his mouth, EK65’s groin was torn to shit, and yet we endured. Ever since last year the refs have done nothing but screw us all this season as punishment for their own embarrassments. But all that aside I’d still hope for a little more empathy from you, Shannon. No love lost or anything, but definitely don’t feel like staying quiet about the so-called controversy.
