No he doesn't. Not playing the puck usually hurts the team more. Spencer knight in his very limited action like 4 appearances last season allowed 2 goals because he didn't play the puck.

@@slipperynodd578 yes it does hurt the team more. You don't ever notice when a goalie does something right with the puck because no one says a word about it. But these mistakes we see are happening once out of maybe ever 100 times that goalie plays the puck. When i played growing up i never allowed a goal because i played the puck. There are lots of goalies in the nhl who play the puck during a game and never allow a goal but you guys are telling goalies to not play it because some other guy fumbled the puck one time out of the 10 times he played the puck that night. Like i said spencer knight played in a total of 4 games and allowed 2 goals because he wouldn't go and stop the puck behind his net. He allowed his opponent to ring the puck around the boards, they get first get a shot and score. He just had to stop the puck behind his net that was it. Didn't have to even pass it. Just stop it behind the net for the dman to get

Do you really thing that the trapezoids behind the net are there, because they were the only way to convince goalies not to be stupid and leave their net? No, they are there because goalies playing the puck helps the defense a ton.

Kicking motions are literally never called. The only time the NHL ever calls kicking motions is if the momentum of the kick causes the puck to go into the net. Like going from dead to kicked in. There has literally been 100 calls exactly like that in the last 10 years. Far from a dang it. NHL officiating is far from consistent but this is the one rule they have been 100% consistent with.

I was saying there was no way they were going to overturn that call, because of the other two goals that weren’t overturned, so naturally they overturned the Avs goal.

And it prevents a great penalty killer going into the box

@@wizardwd The player that shot it over should get a penalty anyway and they should thank Tkachuck for protecting the fans. The players knew it was going over, the refs knew it, and the fans knew it. I think the rule says something about the skate coming of the ice but when the wheel stays on the ice it's considered a deflection

And then the Wild won in OT. Top 5 angriest I've been over a Jets loss and it wasn't because of horribly one-sided reffing.

While they were talking to Gretzky on the TNT feed, Justin Schultz scored and less than 30 seconds later, Hendrix Lapierre scored his first NHL goal and Gretzky didnt stop, nor did the play-by-play guy stop him. Look at the video of Lapierre's first goal.

It depends on the feed you were watching. One feed you have Gretzky talking over both goals. I have also seen another feed, don't know from where, where it is radio silence from the second Schultz scores until Lapierre is back on the bench a minute after scoring his.
