If it's worth anything, I own two pair of Nicks Roberts (55 Last/Dogger heal). One pair were purchased a few years ago and the other about a year later. I also own a pair of Iron Rangers, which were purchased about a year or two prior. I was sized by my local RedWing store on their machine, and came out a 10.5 (normally, I'm wearing 10D). The woman who was helping me said she'd get a 9.5, as downsizing one full size is typical. I put one foot in those, and said "gimme a 9". Those 9's fit like a glove in the store, and only got better thereafter. I did the Nicks foot measurement thing, got my test pair, and was astonished to see the size on the box was 8.5EE (!). I threw those puppies on, and sure as shit, they were perfect. Sent those back and waited for my (first) ordered pair in walnut. I had no problem breaking them in (nor did I have any issues with the RedWings). Love all three pair, but I have to admit, the Redwings are "light-weights" compared to the Roberts, but my IronRangers feel as if they're spray painted on. No lie. My Roberts are awesome fitting, but you certainly know you're wearing a substantial boot as your heel plops into the heel of those Roberts with authority. The chicks love these things btw - my Nicks get noticed everywhere I go. If you can't get laid wearing a nice pair of Nicks, don't blame it on the boots.

Hi Chris! Your comment is certainly welcome and very much worth a reply! Regarding the RW IR’s I am a full size down from Brannock! (11 Brannock and wear a 10D). My IR’s as you eloquently put “fit like they are sprayed on”. I also have a pair of other RWs that are EE width that I purchased in 9.5EE and they fit well. I really think width has so much to do with correct sizing. Unfortunately with mass produced boots and footwear, regardless of your foot shape etc are stuck with either D or EE and the variation in brands is so incredibly frustrating! My personal experience has been great, from someone that couldn’t do the try on scenario and I don’t think most people need to if they follow the Nicks Instruction, you sir are obviously an exception to the rule! It is a great feeling having a pair of great boots that fit perfectly, well done mate! Regarding the getting laid bit, I think that even if you have a face like a half sucked twisty, you will still get laid if wearing the custom order I am very patiently waiting for! Thank you so much for watching and sharing! 😊

@@collectedovertime3291 Haha. You're welcome. Yeah, Nicks called the shots on the sizing and they're a great fit. I'll admit, when I saw 8,5 on the test fit pair, I was blown away.

Hello Guys, really very useful comments. I wanted to ask you also about Red Wing IR sizing to Nick’s. I am wearing IR 10.5D with Darn Tough socks feel them like “second skin”.My sneakers are size 11Е. Using Nick’s paper sheets giving me 13.5 EE.Very confusing.

Hi mate, I didn’t get an in stock boot. I ordered a “cutters choice” takes a little less time but still a custom size order. Unless you have odd shaped feet I would goto a store that has a Brannock, get measured and take 1/2 size away. Worked for me and seems to be the recommendation. Thanks for watching

Just an update, so the boots I reviewed are a steel toe and I am very pleased with the size, no toe tub and enough wriggle room for when my feet swell when working. That said I purchased a pair of Robert’s with a Celastic toe from the ready to ship section that are a size 10E. They are perfect ! I think moving forward I will by non steel a full size down from Brannock and steel toe 1/2 size down. Not sure if that helps your decision.

I ordered mine on 3/13 (cutters choice) ; they showed up on my doorstep on 4/3. At first I didn’t take a second look at the box because I wasn’t expecting them yet! I ended up ordering a half size down from my Brannock measurement and an EE . This turned out to be the correct size for me. Was apprehensive when first trying them on. Feel like I got lucky. Thanks for sharing the info . Love my boots!

@@SuperDuty23XL great to hear! I have been happy with the 1/2 size down on my steel toe cutters, if had the option to full size I wouldn’t for the steel toe. Since this vid I bought a pair of Robert’s waxed flesh with celastic toe in a 10E, and they are a perfect fit. So in summary for me steel to 1/2 size down, regular toe 1/2-1 size down. And honestly a think pair of socks vs a thin pair of socks can make such a difference! Thanks for taking time to comment. 👍🏻

Hey mate great review, glad to hear from another Aussie. Did you have any customs issues importing them to Aus? Im considering a pair, but it seems if the value ticks over 1000, customs may sting us for extra tax and duties charges. How did you go with that?

Gday mate!! The tax applicable does not include shipping charges. So work out what the boot cost is USD to AUD and if under 1K then you will be fine! If it’s over slightly, grab a coin and flip it. Fingers and Toes crossed they let you through. I didn’t get charged because the value when I purchased was not over 1K. What are you thinking about getting?

Great review!! I ordered a custom pair of builder pro 10 in all roughout walnut, 55 last, classic toe back in November and I think I've narrowed down my size I can wear a 9.5D iron ranger but it's a tad snug on the sides so I went with a 9.5E on my order I hope it's close I wear a 10.5 in sneakers and a 10 in most work boots
@collectedovertime3291
@collectedovertime3291 Жыл бұрын
Hi mate! Thanks for watching! I would say you’re sizing will be good for the way you like to wear your boot. I’d anticipate when you get it it may be firm but give a little, the same way your iron rangers have. If you’re a 10.5 in sneakers I would dare say that is your Brannock size, so I would also guess that you could fit a 10E if you wanted the little extra room in the toe box! For reference my sneaker size in a 11US which is the exact same as my Brannock. I wear a 10D in Iron Rangers and 875s. I found that by going 1/2 back from Brannock was perfect, however I think if I had a celastic toe and not a steel toe, I may be inclined to get a 10E meaning a full size drop. My standard order I have in place is a 10.5E also. Thanks again for watching!

best way is to measure your foot with a tape measurer around the ball of the foot. I have a pair of 7.5 Americana and 9 urban logger and they are essentially the same size. a quarter inch difference. best way is to try it on see if it fits if not send it back.

@@Shaboomquisa agree about measuring the ball of the foot for width. Are you a size 7.5 in Americana and a 9 in urban logger? Ideally I agree with what you are saying regarding trying and sending back if they don’t fit, however as I live in Australia, I really needed to make sure of sizing, hence following Nicks advice. For me to send back and have resent would have cost me close to $350 AUD in shipping costs !

@collectedovertime3291
@collectedovertime3291 Жыл бұрын
Hi mate, pretty sure the steel cap is built over the last. So if you pick your right size you shouldn’t have any issue being steel or soft. Only difference is that if you do happen to go too narrow the leather will break, whereas the steel toe won’t! Good luck mate, if you are really worried Nicks have a size chart on their website to match your width to your size.

It was probably a good idea to get the E width. For steel toes, it's nice having a little extra room so they don't rub the sides of your big toe. Steel toes don't stretch.

Couldn’t agree more mate! They are perfect and any slight toe rub has gone. I have since purchased Roberts in 10E and they are exactly what I am size wise for soft toe. After experiencing both I recommend a full drop in size from Brannock for soft toe and a 1/2 size for steel! Thanks Legend. 👍🏻

@collectedovertime3291
@collectedovertime3291 11 ай бұрын
Hi mate, you’re talking about the sheet you print from the website? If so sounds like that’s a little off. I have worn Oliver’s but can’t recall exactly what size I was. Most recently though I have worn Steel Blue (referencing another popular Australian boot brand). My size in Steel Blue is a snug 9.5 AU because they run a little wide. I can also comfortably fit a size 10 AU which is a full size down from my Brannock which is 11D. I have 3 pairs of Nicks, my Builder Pros are a Steel Toe and I am a 10.5E. My two other pairs are Roberts with Celastic Toe and both are a 10E. My advice to you is to go to Athletes Foot or similar, get measured in your Brannock, the digital measure they offer will do the same. If you’re getting Steel Toe I would go down 1/2 size to avoid toe rub, I decided to widen one increment to a E. With my Roberts and non steel toe a full size down and still the wide increment has been perfect for me. Hope that makes sense!
