I don’t really see a growing boot collection in my future. I waited 6 months for my Wedge Workers and when they came in, Nick’s forgot to put the steel toe in them. So I had to send them back and I still haven’t heard from them if they have started fixing my order. Basically I ordered a second pair to combat lead times. Hopefully I don’t move to the bottom of the list because of their mistake. I have probably 3 or 4 months left on the soles of these boots. More if I feel like pushing it. Hopefully I can get my new boots and gradually break them in I don’t see that Wedge sole not being bald in like 8 months. So basically it’s wear off a sole, wait months for a resole ship a pair of boots in. I don’t really envision myself ever being in possession of both pairs of boots at once for very long. These are getting honey vibram soles and lose the durability, but gain myself some grip.

Great channel, I have a dirt track right down the road. And I've got 3 pairs of Nick's boots. Hotshot, Urban Loggers, and builder pro. I have too many damn boots! I have 3 other pairs of dress type boots. I will probably not need to buy a new pair for the rest of my days 💪🏻👊🏻

Thanks for watching. I just got an email from Nick’s and they’re getting started on my wedge workers. I have never really had a pair of boots last as long as these and still be actually good. But I decided I better get ahead of their resole lead time right now because frankly I grind soles bald. I might be putting up another video of the end of last Saturday night’s race here in a few. 👍

Gonna be a nice comparison between these and your new wedge sole Nicks. I think a lot of people would like to see that comparison and hear your thoughts about it.

Especially me. I have been waiting 6 months. Not that there’s anything wrong with these boots. Far from it. I just decided to get ahead of that resole lead time when there was still some getting ahead to be done.

How was the fitting process? Did you do their reccomended guide and go a half size down? Is the toe box comfortable?
@jakesshopandtracktalk1835
@jakesshopandtracktalk1835 Жыл бұрын
I used the boot size I was fitted for in Boot Camp. I didn’t order half a size down because I like an extra pair of socks in the winter. The toe box is comfortable. If you haven’t been professionally fitted, I would highly recommend that you do the whole tracing your feet and all that. These things are expensive and you want to be sure that you get the right fit.

I start a new job soon my corks are a no go and need steel toe. How's the toe leather holding up? Should I pay a bit more for a toe cap? Steel toes in the fleet went kaput in less than a year.

If I was working on a warship still I would pay for the extra leather on the toe. However I am not and the toe caps still no steel showing. We’re at around 21 months on these boots now. These things are nothing like the Navy issued us brother.

@@jakesshopandtracktalk1835 Good to know, my flight deck boots (remember them) I think lasted 8 months. I do logging (corks) but like I said my new job won't allow corks in the equipment. Forgot to ask, I wear a 9.5B a bit long on purpose but snug in the wwidth. How do you think I should size them?

@@johnvelas70 Nick’s run a little bit longer than off the rack. But I would call them personally if I was you. I just retired 2 years ago and I remember flight deck boots all too well. It’s why the first thing I did was buy an expensive ass pair of work boots as soon as I could choose my foot wear.

Once they have broken in how do they feel compared to other steel toes you’ve worn ?
@jakesshopandtracktalk1835
@jakesshopandtracktalk1835 Жыл бұрын
They feel outstanding, nothing that I have had before these even holds a candle to them. The level of support on my feet. I think I notice the biggest difference between these and other steel toes when I take them off. I don’t wake up with sore arches, I don’t have any pain in my feet at all. It’s not a soft cushiony kind of comfort. They kinda hug your feet. If that makes sense. It’s almost 6 in the morning and time to put them on and head to work. Thanks for watching and commenting.
