Shipmate, if it is in your contract and put into your record you will get it. I promise. Unfortunately the issue is: you are in a temporary command with an admin department that is dealing with thousands of sailors coming and going at all times and, honestly, your advancement is not a priority to them. My advice would be to bring it up to your instructor and if nothing comes of it when you get to your ultimate duty station with an admin department that is trained to deal with your pay and advancement they can fix it. You will be back paid to the date it should have taken effect.

okay so we have different roles so the benefits for navy are a bigger service with more variety of jobs, and deploying around the world is more common. Coast guard have smaller ships, less variety, but advancement is good and their deployment rotations are to some pretty cool spots.

Robert Morehead if you can run in 12:45 or lower with 62 sit ups and 42 push ups you will pass. Just push push push yourself to make sure you get those push ups. You can also pass with 54 sit ups 46 push ups and 12:15 or lower. There’s a chart you can search up online that can help you calculate it and if you’re older than 19 it will be even easier.

@@Willatimes what I do is I start from 10 in go down to 1 so example-I'll do 10 pushups take a 3 sec break,then I'll do 9 pushups take a 3 sec break, and continue going down to 1. Do this exercise 3 times a day(morning,afternoon,night) in your pushups will increase.

They all have negative sides to them ands good sides. So honestly I would go look at certain rates and see which would fall under those 3.

there are PDFs that explain these 3 fields. from a former merchant mariner, essentially we have: firemen, engine room striker; seaman, deck striker (moving the boat, weapons etc.) airman, anything that flies striker. there are others, like constructionman, a Seabee striker; hospitalman, a corpsman striker. I believe there are others. there are pluses and minuses for all of them. you have to figure out what type of environment you want be in. you like flying things, go air. boats and water, go sea. like being like Mr Scott with the dilithium crystals in a hot engine room, go fire. this is your career, not only you want to rank up fast, you want to enjoy or least don't mind what you do. if you perform well enough, you can go far. perhaps CWO or Officer, Annapolis, Navy prep school, ROTC. even 4 star. some career fields combine in unique ways like Mineman, combining bosun, quartermaster, ship handling skills of deck; Gunners mate weapons; explosives for deactivating mines. SWCC run boats: deck, engine, guns and also medical skills of a corpsman. they're all good fields, all serve the nation with honor. you might after each enlistment can or might be forced to switch due to Manning requirements and enlistment bonuses

You aren’t getting e5 in boot camp not even e4 lol u might be able to get e4 with a degree but you won’t make e5 until u cycle etc

In my division the guy we had was about your age, but that really isn't a determining factor. Maybe your maturity will make you stand out, but I really wouldn't worry about getting as leadership position because you'll see who really wants it.

I dont think they administer the advancment test in boot camp, especially since you wont meet time-in-rate requirements. You need to be a E3 for a minimum of 6 months and then you also have to wait for the next advancement cycle (usually at least two times a year is when petty officer advancement tests are administered).

Not out of book camp. However, you can have contract automatic to E-4 at the completion of an A school, or some type of advance training: nuke school, aircrew/search and rescue and a few others.

I fail at life.... worst job? reading handwriting and making a schedule. Not too bad lol.

Lena Pokol You can refer people AND once you're deped in they give you a START guide. it's a book that contains a bunch of information that help you prepare for bootcamp like Sailors creed and 11 general orders of a sentry. In the back there are PQS's. They're questions about the book that you and your recruiter go over to make sure you know it and they will sign each section. You will need all the sections signed and have it documented at MEPS that you have it signed. Then at bootcamp you need to pass the inital physical test and written test. If you do this and have the PQS signed and documented at MEPS you are promoted to E-2 but you're still treated like everyone else and are still considered a recruit.
