Woof... this one's a doozy! This is my horrible job searching and interview storytime from when I moved from Minnesota to Arizona a few years ago. It's up there as the worst interview I've ever had AND one of the worst experiences I've had in a long time. Oof. If they treat you like that in an INTERVIEW, imagine how they treat their actual employees. Good for you for passing on that. My wife and I are actually moving from MN to AZ in March, so it’s great to get to hear your experiences. Definitely hoping for the best when we have some interviews.

Never do an interview assignment. It’s unpaid work that the employer could keep and use. Sorry this happened.

Omg!!! What a horrible person! Honestly you dodged a bullet and your boyfriend is 💯 correct. I mean if just the interview had that kind of effect imagine how psychologically jarred you would be now. So glad you have a job you really like. Thank you for sharing your story!

WOW. I'm so sorry that happened to you. What a bully! I've worked with people like that; purposely vague, unreasonable, unkind and take delight in publicly shaming and embarrassing people. That woman ticked all the boxes. You dodged a bullet there. Yikes!

That was mental abuse plain and simple. Doesn’t matter if you did the assignment correct or not, the belittlement is a RED FLAG for them TOXIC environment. I’ve had problems with finding good people in the work force all my life. Happy your happier now! Thanks 4 sharing.

PAM is a sucky person! Nobody deserves that! Thank you for sharing your experience even though it was not a pleasant one. I am glad that you are in a place you where you are happy now.

Even in mellow Tucson we got some nasty business people who lack any empathy like that. Glad your doing better now despite the rough landing.

I find that often, mean people are stupid. I bet that gig didn't pay enough anyways. They completely wasted your time, but they're acting like you're wasting their time. I kind of want to know what this company's Glassdoor reviews are like lol

girl this happened to me too! she made fun of my shoes and she also came late to our interview and i was waiting outisde on my phone! and she told me " i noticed you were on ur phone, i think ur not responsible" in the rudest karen voice! like what was i supposed to do???? stare at her face?? lmfao

She was right... It was definitely a giant red flag.... For you. You definitely dodged a bullet.

This is really horrendous and massively unprofessional! Firstly, "Jim" shouldn't have left you hanging so long between responses and should have given you more time and more explanation to put something together. Secondly if "Pam" was that angry, why didn't she just send "Angela" to speak with you?!

I’m from Arizona and I know so many people who moved from Minnesota to here. Haha, I feel like we all want the opposite of what we come from, because I want four seasons now, and want to get the hell out of this hot state 😂

Don't take this wrong but that was so Minnesotan to not ask questions about the project they gave you. Never be hesitant to ask questions. I would have walked on them, F that shit, what a toxic environment that job would have been.

Thank you for your honesty. Hopefully you are still enjoying living there with all the prices going up there now. Pam sounded like she was menopausal. Alot of jobs nowadays are all about power games and manipulation. They seem to enjoy scaring people into submission and instilling fear so the worker does more. Don't take the bait!

So glad you didn’t take that, first job. There are a lot of wonderful companies and people in Phoenix. None of what happened was your fault!!! So happy you found a great job. My daughter and family live there she really likes it and has build a wonderful life. Central California was just to expensive for her.
