@@notquitemytempo1353 True, and most sopranos, whether mezzo or full on, have a few parts of their voice that leans towards other sopranos ( probably why Floor sounds so great with Simone, ) so the underlying quality is there and makes Amy a logical conclusion. Once people start hearing Floor's versatility, it's like 'Whoa, ok large difference', but as a first listen, they won't know that and will compare to someone their ears do know until they start hearing more differences ( like her growls and just unearthly ability to switch styles )

I was 61 years old and checking out KZfaq. I came across one of their songs. Gabriel gave you the background information down below. When I discovered them it was with their 1st singer Tarja. Then they had Anette and then and now is Floor Jansen. I have been in love with them since. I am now 65. They have gotten me through some tough times. The fans are very passionate. But they are the kindest most caring group of people that I have the honor to be a part of. I hope you give them a chance. They have all types of music. Welcome to the best LIVE band playing today and the most versatile lead vocalist, The Dutch dynamo, all 6' 1" Floor Jansen a/k/a the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal. Here at the great Wacken Open Air Festival Floor and the band performed before 80,000+ fans and put on one of the best LIVE concert ever. You never just listen to or hear this band or Floor you experience them. The Evanescence and Amy Lee reference is likely the only real North American band that play some symphonic metal music however, there is no comparison as Nightwish is world class musicians with arguably the best female vocalist singing today. She just finished a TV show where in the first 4 episodes she sang songs fromn4 different genres and in 4 different languages! There is nothing she can't sing and as for the opera training she had 1 year of it but found it too constraining so she move onto metal and has been doing this since her teen years with metal bands. Here she showed off her power, range and stage presence in just one of the 15 songs in this set list (this was near the end of the show and her and the band were still going full tilt). If you were impressed, well you haven't even scratched the surface, metal, ballads, folk metal, jazz, Pop you name it this band can play it and Floor can sing it. BTW she doesn't need to play Wonder Woman she is Wonder Woman and the nicest, sweetest most talented non-diva you will ever meet, everyone loves this woman and she really appreciates her fans. If you want to here more stay with this Wacken concert. If you want to hear her opera voice then try this Phantom of the Opera (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ptJzhsab26qzeoE.html) done with her idol the Dutch Opera singer Henk Poort on LIVE Dutch TV (no reaction needed unless you want to but you need to see this performance). For metal try Romanticide (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sOCParJ0qLfQiKc.html).

She does have a big mouth, which is partly why her voice sounds as good as it does. She's a soprano, but her being very tall and having a large mouth allows for lower harmonics to come through, which gives her voice a sort of warmth and breadth, even at high pitch.

When I first watched Nightwish, I was intrigued. That was with Tarja in 2004. I quickly came to love them for their unusual, romantic metal and Tarja's fantastic voice and opera-style singing. Then Anette joined in 2007, and I lost interest. I rediscovered them in January 2019 with Floor and was completely blown away by her singing and by her performances, and by extension the woman, who combines so much talent and dedication and professionalism and taste and courage and chutzpah and confidence and beauty and elegance in one person. I think you will hear many similar stories from many others. This is one of their mellower songs. I second the suggestions Romanticide, Song of Myself, or Yours Is An Empty Hope as next songs to listen/react to (all live). I would also like to applaud you for your open, intelligent and articulate reactions. A pleasure to watch.

@@oliphant2848 I have to agree with that assessment. I couldn't stand "she who shall not be named", but I got lucky and rediscovered them at the end of last year/first part of this year. For me it wasn't a "Tarja is Nightwish" deal but more along the lines of the 2nd singer's voice just grated on my nerves. I did have my issues with Tarja like her accent was thick at times, but overall I enjoyed listening to her. The other one well....to me she goes in the same folder I put Taylor Swift and her ilk in, the folder of "stuff I just can't listen to".

It really says a lot about Nightwish's professionalism that she's their 3rd vocalist yet the other members, who, lets face it, are absolutely bringing their A-Game (including the Keyboardist, who also wrote the song), yet they all let her be the center of attention. They're all immensely talented yet they all let themselves be part of the backdrop. That's professionalism right there!

The music is called symphonic metal and i very populair in Europe and South America. The band is from Finland and founded 1996. So far the band has had 3 vocalists 1 Tarja Turunen (Finish) pure opera voice also very good live. (until 2005) 2 Anette Olzon (Schwedish) more pop style. fine in the studio but not good live. (until 2012) 3 Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current) . * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she's capable of. Band members Tuomas Holopainen (The keyboard player and creative mind behind the band. He writes about 95% of the music and lyrics) Marco Hietela (the viking with the long beard (Bass and vocals) Jukka "Julius" Nevalainen (The drummer) Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen (the hobbit like guitar player) Troy Donockley ( a person who did not play on this song but is a multi instrumentalist from the UK) The clip was shot a few months after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the worldtour a lot of what happened was recorded. The documentary is called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rM51q86evLGxdYk.html ) As a next song to take a look at i would recommend their masterpiece "The poet and the pendulum" live at Wembley. Before you take a look at it i would recommend to take a look at the backstory of this song. This will make you appreciate it much more. here is the link kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nciebKqU37-mm6s.html BTW that last note she just sang? Nightwish fan created a whole new word for when she does something impressive like that. We call it a Floorgasm. She can growl. But probably you will be most blown away by her recent performance on Dutch TV of a duet with a Dutch Baritone Named Henk Poort of Phantom of the Opera. Uh...she can sing pretty much everything. She took a year of opera conservatory, as part of her 6 years of music theater. She has always been metal from the start.Even before her studies she was part of a Dutch symphonic/goth metal band After Forever. In 2009 she started Revamp, they put out 2 albums, Then Nightwish came out of the sky and scooped her up. She is without a doubt one of or the most versatile trained voices in the world. Also some say she has 4 octaves. She has said that while she recognized that she had operatic qualities, metal was always her first choice. Nightwish has a new album out in the spring, we, the Nightwish Army, can't fucking wait. She has also confirmed that despite her recent adventures in the pop world, Nightwish is her home.

Hello! Yes, you know something about symphonic metal. Since you started this journey, here are some info that may help you navigate (a short history of the band, concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just saw her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. If you enjoy the heavier side of metal I would recommend the song Yours is an Empty Hope by Nightwish - live @ Wembley version. Floor Jansen (the lead singer in this video) does some growls during the chorus of this song. Also, for heavier stuff from Floor check out her older bands After Forever and ReVamp. I prefer After Forever myself. Some fans will also claim that Floor Jansen is an opera singer, but she is not. She has several years of training under her belt though, which does include some classical singing. I believe she focused more on musical theater though (someone can correct me if I'm wrong).

Great Reaction! FYI, there was 82,000+ in the audience at that year's annual W'V'acken open air Metal Festival, in Germany. Ghost Love Score was the 13th of 15 songs that Nightwish performed that night. Like most, I'm sure you will around to reacting some of the other 14. They were that year's (2013) headliners among 50+ bands that performed at the 4-day Event. I would recommend 'Romanticide, which is harder, also 'Ever Dream' or 'Song of Myself' from the same concert, for your next reaction.

This is usually how it works. You react to Ghost Love Score with your mouth open, saying wtf? How was your first 'Floorgasm'? Then comes another one from the same show (Wacken 2013). Then, you find yourself reacting to all the songs from that show. Then one day you upgrade, reacting to The Poet and The Pendulum and you realize that you're seeing the world with different eyes, like you've never seen it before. Welcome.

Saying Nightwish reminds you of Evanescence is like saying the Beatles remind you of the Dave Clark 5. Floor Jansen is perfection, and live Nightwish is as good as music gets.

You said the exact same thing that I thought. Heavenly! When I heard Floor sing, and this was the very first time I heard her or even heard of Nightwish, in this particular video.. I thought this is what heaven will sound like with Floor singing.. her range is incredible on top of just having a beautiful voice.. I’ve watched at least a dozen reaction videos to Ghost Love Score and they are all so similar with reactions almost identical at all the same moments. She blows people away.. I really like her.. my favorite

You've just witnessed the one and only Floor Jansen. There's a reason people are infatuated with this woman (myself included). She's one of the best and most versatile singers on the planet (she can also growl), not to mention her hypnotic stage presence. Check out Romanticide, Yours Is an Empty Hope or Song of Myself if you want to hear the heavy side of Nightwish. I think you'll dig it 😉

This was my introduction to Nightwish about 6 1/2 years ago. I'd been a fan of the vocalist (Floor Jansen) for a while so when this video was released (to promote the upcoming live album), I checked it out simply because of her. At the time of this recording, she was not yet a full-time member of the band. She was literally filling in for the singer at the time (Annette Olzen) who was on maternity leave. The fact that Floor took this song and completely owned it was so impressive to me. (Needless to say, I bought the live release when it came out.)

Her pronunciation and enunciation are remarkable. Others have suggested some ass kickers for you to enjoy, Floor's story really is like the phoenix in that her career was in doubt at one time and as someone said in another posting Floor helped heal Nightwish and Nightwish helped heal Floor. For suggestions I would add 7 days to the wolves (wembley) or ghost river(wacken.)

If you do Poet, its best to know something about the band, its history, especially how they parted with their 1st singer (Tarja Turunen)... if you do few "normal" NW songs, you usually get most of the story along... so its better to wait some. Eventually, doing some research on Google would do the trick too... Poet is wery good to do video with subtitles (the lyrics play more important part in the song than elsewhere...)

She's not an Amazon, she's our Queen Valkyrie Goddess Floor Jansen (Yansen), who looks like an Amazon !!!😂 I'm glad you said "reminds me of Evanescence" at the beginning of the video, because I'm positive you have changed you mind by the end..!!! There is no comparison between Floor and any other singer !!! She's unique and she can sing any genre you can imagine!!! Just check any Nightwish live show after 2012 - up to date and a Dutch TV show Beste Zangers (best singers) 2019 and you'll understand what "perfection at its best" means !!! Next try any song from the same live Wacken Open Air Festival 2012 or Tampere 2015 or Wembley 2015, you won't regret it !!! 🙂🤟🤘

Floor is Amazing... The band is amazing... Tuomas (keys, writer and composer) is amazing... Yes floor was classically trained for a year. Yes floor is over six feet tall and exceptionally built. No you will not get backlash for saying she could play Wonder Woman! Yes she has a exceptionally large mouth witch is a major advantage when it comes to singing. This is not a Heavy NIGHTWISH song so don't put them in a box.

The singer is Floor Jansen. She is the 3rd singer the band has had, she is 6 feet tall and maybe that's why it looks like she has a big mouth. lol Great singer/performer. Range is at a whole new level, diversity is incredible and she can hold those notes for upwards of 8 seconds. May I recommend her performance in the tv show Beste Zangers where she sings a duet with Henk Poort (opera singer) and they do Phantom of the Opera. Enjoy. 😊❤ Beautiful reaction by the way, some of your comments made me laugh. 😂 That was as honest and open of a reaction as I can ask for. I didn't expect anything less. The first time I heard Nightwish was early 2000's with the song Elvenpath. I was immediately sold, as at that time I was also listening to The Gathering, Within Temptation and Epica. When Tarja left, I stopped following them for a few years, until this came out. I knew Floor was the new singer, but I didn't knew she had become so good, as I still remembered her from her After Forever period (where she was still very young) And yes, she has a huge mouth, but hey, where else is she going to store her whole vocal range :P

I cannot really tell you how I felt when I first listended to Nightwish because that was around 15 years ago, so I truthfully don't remember my first reaction. I do however know this was my favorite song of theirs, sung by their original vocalist Tarja Turunen, who is a lyrical soprano. But then they parted ways with Tarja and Anette Olzon, who replaced her just didn't work for me and I ended up stopping listening to Nightwish. But, not that long ago, this version of Ghost Love Score popped up in KZfaq suggestions for me so I decided to give it a shot. I was sure Anette was still with them and I was simply interested how she sings my favorite (and one of the most challenging songs of the band), so I was in for a huge surprise. Needless to say, she blew me away and now I'm back listening to Nightwish and sincerly hoping their visit here during their next tour.

10:00 the Floorgasm brings yet another convert to the family !! 😁 Welcome Sister. You’re one of us now. Just FYI, that’s about 70 minutes into the show and Floor had been killin’ it the whole way already. Also, that’s 82 THOUSAND people hanging on her every word; so, no pressure on her to Bury that (9 second long)high note.... At 6’1 and 170 pounds Floor is a smiling, singing, dancing, enchanting, stage commanding Valkyrie; and to me at least, a gift from above. Seeing the whole video of this concert, Especially the Floorgasm changed my life. It made me start listening to music again. I love watching these reaction videos and my biggest hope is that people follow and enjoy the Symphonic Metal path I was led to. Welcome to it. 💙💙💙All Hail Floor !! 💙💙💙 This is the holy trinity of Nightwish songs live with Floor fronting... Great reaction! Nightwish has a wide spectrum of sounds & styles in their music. While they are certainly not the most brutal metal band around, they do get quite a bit heavier. Harder, more "headbangy" songs from them include: "Song of Myself", "Romanticide", "Ghost River" & "Yours is an Empty Hope (both featuring Floor doing some Death Growls, especially the latter), and "Dark Chest of Wonders". See what you think! :D
