Should you buy the Nikon D750 or Nikon D500, that's the major question. Personally I think the decision is simple, the Nikon D500 is the way to go. froknowsphoto.com/nikon-d750-v...
amzn.to/294HTF9 Nikon D500
amzn.to/290U4jX Nikon D750
The Nikon D500 may be the best choice for any photographer starting out today. I used to recommend the D750 as the best starting camera but not any longer.
If I had to choose between Nikon or Canon for the best starting camera I would still choose the Nikon D500.

+Eddy Brown no, the D610 and 6D are entry level. the D750 was priced and featured to compete with the 5d mkiii. only legitimate feature it lacks is a 1/8000 shutter. they equipped it with their best AF & imaging processor. obviously outdated as of March, a year and half later.
@jaimeduncan6167
@jaimeduncan6167 8 жыл бұрын
I believe that it was not the case and certainly it's not the case today. The D810 is equivalent to the 5d mkiii. In this moment the D750 cost 500$ less than the 5d, and it does not have a pro body like the Canon you reference. Over time price shifted and know the D810 is more expensive (around 200$) than the 5d mk3.

Ya, he's on a different budget I think. Business wise I thought it was always better to get the best bang for your buck. If I can get the job done with a d600, then that makes better business sense than getting a d5, which is overkill for the majority of ppl who own them.

Well he's not wrong. It's much better to get the good gear right off the bat instead of upgrading to that good year later. Photography is expensive in the first place. When you seriously want to get into it, get a good set up right off the bat. I would remmomenf the nikon z5 or sony A7iii right now. Cannon R is alright also. Get a mirrorless and get a full frame. Yes it's going to be initially more expensive, but your gonna get a lot more value out of the products also. Also new gear retains the value more. Don't get a dslr as prices gonna drop fast as fuck.

I do not agree with Jared. I do own both these cameras, and both of these are different, and cannot be compared against each other except for similar price points. A full frame is a full frame. You do not get (1) Wide sensor (2) Commander flash mode (3) Low light performance (4) Remote shutter trigger (5) 24 mp sensor (6) built-in flash with the D500, but you do with a D750. And on the other side of the coin you won't get (1) 1/8000th shutter speed (2) 10 frames /sec (3) 4k videos (4) These many cross auto focus points (5) ergonomic and convenient button placement (6) zoom as any dx would with a D750. If you would have to choose between these two all what matters the most is "What feature is more important to you".

Hi Jared, i love your reviews but i have some questions in mind. Does the Megapixel difference make a difference in terms of sharpness? because D750 have 24.3 and 20.9 for D500. My second question is that doesn't FX camera have a better depth of field and captures more details comparing it with a DX camera? My third question will be, which will you recommend me if i am currently using a DX camera and i already have 2 DX lenses plus have been shooting for 3 years now? Please reply, because i am planning to switch my camera but i am having a hard time deciding which one should i get. Thank you

Just when I thought I was ready to move on to the next step. I'm currently shooting a Canon 7D (original). I do mainly Landscapes and Portraits so I've been looking to move up to the Full Frame level and go from the amateur/hobby shooter to a Semi-Pro that can start to send a small invoice. I've had my eyes on making the jump to Nikon from the Canon based on their advancements in technology etc. and was really set on the D750, now after watching this video and reading some of the posts down below is it best to hold off?? Is there any word of a replacement to the D750 in the very near future? I don't want to go out and buy one only to see the price significantly drop in 30-60 days and something come out that's better for the same price.... I have no interest in staying with a Crop sensor as it's a pain when shooting the landscapes and the portraits. I'd appreciate some input and thoughts on this.....

Anybody calling the D750 a "starter" is a little out of touch with reality. I can't imagine why you'd upgrade from the d750 at the moment, when you call something a "starter" thats assuming you're going to replace it. LOL Jared Polin here has bought into a narrative created by camera companies to sell more products. Remember, the only way to get you to take your wallet out again is to tell you what you're now using is inferior to other products offered by the same company. It's a great selling tactic, but t's intellectually dishonest to actually believe it in practice.

I was thinking the same thing. At almost 2k dollars, its far from a starter camera. New tech becomes old tech. The d750 is capable of professional shooting and I wouldnt be hard pressed to upgrade.

@kingalias
@kingalias 8 жыл бұрын
It depends on what your experience involves. While it might not be a lie (unless someone isn't being upfront about their experience), it can be skewed depending on what someone wants to believe. I believe Jared at one point said the Nikon 24-70E VR was sharper than the older 24-70G, which isn't always the case. www.dpreview.com/forums/post/57679613 D750 vs D500, with the D750 along the top row. It appears the D750 has a better profile, but the D500 holds up pretty well considering it's a DX camera. However, that doesn't seem to account for any tugging on the files.
@kevindiossi
@kevindiossi 8 жыл бұрын
I feel that was a very poor statement from him. Yes, "personal experience" is what he's using for his consideration, but unless this personal experience was side-by-side, it's not an accurate statement. There are plenty of resources out there that show the D750 is still far superior to the D500 in high ISO. He quotes the native ISO rage as a factor in this? Come on...we all know that Nikon's native ISO claims are outlandish in terms of actual usability.

I am a wedding photographer. The D810 - the D850 files are way too big for the event photography I do. I use a D750 - and it is perfect for me for wedding photography. The files are a great size for high work flow. Also I believe the low light capability with the D750 is slightly better than the D850. It just looks better to me. The D500 while a nice camera - is crop. For weddings my 24-70 and 70-200 lenses would look weird on the D500 - depth of field etc would suffer. For what it's worth the D750 is indeed a fine camera and at the end of the day my images are the quality I need from the D750. That is the aspect that matters.

The D500 should be a beast! But the FX sensor is lovely in low light tho. I bought the Canon 6D with 24-105 f4 and 17-40 f4 and soon I'll buy a sigma 35m art! You can see some of my photos/videos on my instagram

The D750 is like £500 cheaper in the UK, which could really affect the decision.
@duckfuckars
@duckfuckars 8 жыл бұрын
If its cheaper and you dont need the speed and extra reach than the 750 is by far the better camera Full Frame will bring noticably better photos with the right photographer if you are shooting portraits, weddings, people in general ect if you are into extreme sports or wildlife d500 is a clear winner and may be worth the extra money but try to invest in full frame lenses either way as in the future generations full frame will always be superior in one way or another EDIT: additionally from what iv seen the d750 outperforms the d500 (which it should) in high iso and is one of the kings of iso so both are incredible for high iso but ignore all of those extended iso at 25600 both become unusable and you shouldn't go over 6400 MAX anyway

to each their own...but a full frame is a full frame..period...u cant change the physics that commands a better performance....I know professionals who shoot with d750 and are very happy...so stop pushing your agenda to promote the d500 over the 750...these are 2 cams for two different audiences.....if u r into sports, wildlife and action then D500 is better...thats not to say that the d750 is not good for wildlife and sports....but if u are into portraits, wedding and lifestyle...you cant beat the bokeh performance of a full frame!!!!

Liked +1 Jared ! thank you for the great videos of the comparison once again. In my honest opinion, technology constantly evolve and will improve hence, one will just need to decide if the price they pay for is worthy. D500 is definitely steps ahead against the 750 and for shooting speed stuff, I don't quite think the DX feature will be a huge setback with the advantage of new tech since its still considered as pro series.

Where do you get the ISO performance is "better" on the D500? DXO Mark shows a different story, where the ISO performance of the D500 is 1324 versus D750 2956 (higher is better). Also the dynamic range and color depth are higher on the D750? I like your videos but this video does not seem impartial.

***** the d750 actually has more video features than any canon. I have started using my Nikon d750 OVER my panasonic GH4 for tv commercials because it gets a better shallow depth of field and is sharp enough for television. The colors look better and its not as flat. just my opinion though
