I still think it’s the best overall console Nintendo ever had. Massive library including DS games and an eshop with the virtual console, customized menus, street pass, some of the best Nintendo exclusives…I could go on and on…

GAMEKEEPER STUDIOS yes... maybe BEFORE the 3DS launched.. but not BEFORE Nintendo was developing it.. which was probably 3-4 years before the 3DS actually launched.

GAMEKEEPER STUDIOS nah bruh. The idea of a 3 camera setup was after the 3ds release. The first company to even implement the 3 camera setup was samsung back in 2007, but it didn’t cause that much traction or attention so they abandoned it. It was later introduced in LG’s G5 phone back in 2016, Apple followed suit in 2017 with the iPhone 7s Plus. If what your saying was true, Apple would have implemented it back in 2015 or 14

I really just miss this era. It was so exciting with the video presentation, 3D concept, and games starting to play more like on a console. Hard to believe I'm nostalgic for 2011/2012 now

Curse Nintendo for replacing this with the switch. 2 screens will ALWAYS indeed be better than 1 and so we REALLY need another next generation ds after the discontinuation of the switch and switch lite. They need to bring back Pictochat for it as well

I love how this ended up on my front page of reccomended content... 10 years after it was ever relevant. I still have my 3DS, purchased in February 2012. My first game on it was Kid Icarus Uprising. Easily the best handheld console I've ever owned. It still beats out the switch, in my opinion.

@@RetroBrando3 until it breaks. Then there is no way to fix it besides calling an expert who may know how to fix it. Or look it up yourself. I’d go with the latter, if you have good hands. Apparently it’s not that hard. Constant replacing then I guess you have it forever.

Agree. They need to come out with a True successor. And I don't want to wait til 2024 via the Switch Successor to get a true successor to the 3DS. Switch Successor will hopefully also be a true successor to the Wii U as well.

@Meme Man no, its a Wii/GBA successor. Its also Home Console successor. Long story short, its only Wii U Successor by technicality at best. But its definitely not True Successor. In order to be True Successor, it would need all the same features, and I don't see detachable dual screens. A general successor, because it's Nintendo's official new home console, yes. I definitely agree with you on that. But I was talking about a "TRUE Successor". That means having all the same features. It would need detachable dual tablets to do that. And for True Successor to 3DS it would need to include Glasses-Free 3D screen and StreetPass and 3D camera (for 3D AR & etc.) on top of that. I hoping no later then Switch Successor for a system that includes all the features of DS and Wii U and 3DS. That's my dream system, with the ability to stream the game from tablet into Dock for T.V. Mode when using one or both Tablets for Wii U like controller with the additional ability to detach physical controls for more variety of interactive gaming (i.e. sword & shield during battles in a Zelda game).

@@kelpusf yeah, a true seperate successor to thbe 3DS would be great, with the addition ofnan XL size and an Lite size model. The Lite size should be able to sport 4.00 or 3.53 inch top screen while being the size of a DS Lite/OG 3DS. I could see the Switch Successor have an XL size as well as an Lite size with Circle Pads instead of joysticks for the Lite size Joy-Con controllers that have the bottom shaved off making them smaller then current joy-con controllers so to match the smaller size tablet(s) and so you can fit tge entire system in one pocket with joy-cons attached. I could imagine the Switch Successor having detachable dual screens and using the entire front of the tablet as a screen (no surrounding black bars) via an LED display so as to have up to 6.2 inch display (the entire fro t of tablet, so also the tablet itself is up to 6.2 inches diagonally) with clamshell form with the dual tablets to put away in your pocket without the screens being exposed. If they release a Switch Successor, it should also include an XL and a Lite size models, with the LITE size model being a true pocket size gaming device you can also play on the TV with. (Though I would imagine the detach Joy-Con Lite controllers to only be comfortable to kids as individual controllers when not attached to the tablet)

Thank you, Nintendo, for making this wonderful family of handheld systems and publishing an epic library of games! I had a great time with the vanilla and the 3DS XL for years to continue my Pokemon and Mario Sports adventures. If it weren't for Animal Crossing: New Leaf on this system, I wouldn't be able to appreciate the franchise as much as in the present. It was a great run. Rest in Power, 3DS. 2011-2020

Crazy that I’ve owned every single model of the 3DS & 2DS. The system looked like it might’ve bombed early on with a terrible library of launch games, but that quickly changed. It became one of the best handhelds ever made. Rest easy, Sweet Prince.

Whenever I open my 3DS it's such a great feeling. It feels so cozy. Why must tech become so boring? The Switch is literally a tablet with a plain white/gray background.

Because consoles nowadays are part of an infotainment system, so having exceedingly childish and colorful motives make them stand out like a sore thumb, Nintendo still has some of its identity, unlike the other two brands.

Same! I got Aqua Blue in it's release! But it is useless today... The L and R buttons glitched, microphone is DEAD, the date keeps changing to 01/01/2011, and it's laggy. So I'm taking the new Nintendo 3DS XL.
