Hi, on 6:06 how can you tell "this Guy is shorted " ? does it look any difference if it's shorted? Please let me know, as I am trying to fix my switch too, it was on the dock overnight and this morning it just doesn't turn on ....Nintendo 's quality is very bad.

If you do a continuity check and both sides are shorted to ground, you have an issue. But yes, the switch has terrible build quality.

Gonna try to replace my video chip tomorrow........I wanted to ask what temperature should I use for my hot air solder? It goes all the way up to 527 degrees.
@garrett_turbod4 жыл бұрын
So, how did it go? I usually run my temp at 400C

What is the white colored device that you have attached to the charge cable to test battery voltage?
@garrett_turbod3 жыл бұрын
It's an amp meter. Used to see what the charging rate is when plugged in.

what's the Mouser part number?

Chips cannot be found on mouser or digikey. I only found it on aliexpress.

when you say shorted, do you mean grounded???a shorted cap is basically the plates being bonded together, also some of the pins on the motherboard will need to be grounded for the ICs which is why you are getting continuity (beeping) on some of them when you probe against the ground plate.
@garrett_turbod4 жыл бұрын
There is a direct short - to ground. Yes, one side of the cap should be grounded, thus the beeping from the continuity check. However, when both sides beep (the side which is connected to the chip) there is a short to ground within the circuit itself.

Hello friend, Do you still repair these types of Nintendo switch cases? I have a similar problem as in the video, I would be very grateful if you would answer me

Just joined your channel.. Have a question for you i have a switch that shows charging but it does not charge. Amp reader shows 0.00 amps. There are no shorts in the charging chips and the video chip.. I also tried two difderent working batteries.. What could it be? Thank you..
@garrett_turbod4 жыл бұрын
Interesting issue. Is this a liquid damaged console? Check voltages coming into the board - check voltage through fuse and at some different points around the M92T36 chip.
@aoronqui14 жыл бұрын
@@garrett_turbod thank you very much for the answer! The unit shows no water damage. With a charged battery the unit works fine with no issues and shows the charging symbol but shows 0.00 amps. Also what should the fuse voltage be?
@garrett_turbod4 жыл бұрын
@@aoronqui1 you should see above 5v.

@@garrett_turbod tha nk you! Is there such a thing as the fuse having continuity and not putting out the required volts? Thank again for ur help
@garrett_turbod4 жыл бұрын
@@aoronqui1 I have seen the fuses blow before. That could certainly be the case here.

Can you please help me. I am trying to help fix my son 's switch. I have tried everything. It will not turn on. I have held it down for 15 seconds, it will come on for 1 second and show the "nintendo" logo and then it goes off, nothing else. My son is becoming so upset (he has Autism). I do not know what else to do?
@garrett_turbod4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a hardware issue within the console. The console will likely need to be repaired.

Wow this is actually hard to watch. You came up on my recommended but honestly that was a bit painful. The way you rigorously scrub that board is so bad. It's the fastest way to knock components off. Also you need to tin the pads before you solder otherwise it'll just fly around all over the place causing you to have to use heat for longer, risking more damage to the board. Also you're using all the wrong tools, your probes are too thick and tweezers are too wide. I do however wish you the best on your repair endeavour and will sub to see how you progress. Thanks for the video :)

Please talk louder some times it's very hard to hear you. When you test chips for short unplug battery, you can short something or usually if battery in than IC's will show sorts. One more trick with this microscope, turn built in light down, that will reduce latency.
@garrett_turbod5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, that's one of those things you only do once. After having to replace the charging fuse, I won't be forgetting to unplug the battery again..
