Bleeding the cooling system in a 350Z or G35 can be a difficult procedure. When performing the procedure you have to undo the dreaded plastic bleeder and at this age they tend to break.
Z1 Motorsports has addressed the issue with a brand new machined piece made out of aluminium.

I had this issue happen to me this weekend, was driving putting miles on my car to get ready for smog (cel ) , when all of the sudden, an explosion came from under my hood, it was the friken bleeder valve that snapped inside the hose on the front side of the heater hose. scared the shit out of me, thought I blew the engine. I ordered the z1 part along with some hoses, and will see if that was all it was. keeping my fingers crossed. I wonder how long its been overheating. I got a new radiator, stat, rad hoses, if this is not it, I hope its not something more serious. Great advise, change those connectors!

This blew my engine on my 2007 G35S Sedan 6MT V36. I eliminated them with a copper pipe, to bleed the system I never used these to begin with. I just jacked up the front end and left the radiator cap open with a funnel so it can bleed itself. 15-20-30 mins of idling and no more bubbles its ready to go. On the V36 G’s theres 2 of them, I forgot to eliminate the second one with a copper piping like I did the first one. Didnt know they had metal ones.

I have this and its amazing. My issue with my car is that the coolant goes into expansion tank and does't go back to engine after cooldown.... so, since the coolant expands and goes into the reservoir after the psi reaches 20, the current cap is 20PSI, i am going to use a higher PSI cap from Mishimoto or Z1 slated at 28PSI and see if that helps... I was planning on taking it to a dealer, and trading the car in and buying another car all out. but man, this has left me with a really bad taste in my mouth with Nissan and Infiniti.

I figured you don't even have to open a coolant bleeder. The type of funnel you have at 5:15 looks like the type that can burp the system. Just leave the car idling and turn on the heat at max. Then just fill up that funnel and you should see air escaping. I may be wrong.

@@AnthonyJ350 Mine is located right up over the engine on the metal shelf where the wiper motor is. I find the trick is to loosen it when it COLD , then warm up the car, then you can crack it to bleed air. DO NOT over tighten while hot. Its best just to snug it closed, then after the car is cooled, tighten it a bit more. What destroys them is over tightening them. You CANNOT use a Phillips screw driver without destroying them. Its best to use a flat bladed screw driver. That design is not for a Phillips. Its a plus pattern, no screwdriver is designed to fit that.
