installing a shim in a h233 nissan patrol rear center. probably the best bang for buck modification you can do.

Good work mate it’s nice to have it really clearly demonstrated so full credit to you there. Only thing is I’m trying to remember when I set my backlash in my front diff if I tightened by carrier preload enough... hopefully I shouldn’t have to second guess myself but a tight preload in a part time 105 cruiser is definitely something you need to have. Cheers mate

Good video. If you don't have bearing blue or a contact paste get a cheap tub of yellow oxide (used to colour concrete) from a hardware store (bunnings) and mix it with a bit of oil to make the paste. A bit better to see than the bearing blue when checking contact patterns. Regards Mick #patroltraction

Just wondering how you would clean little rust spots off any of the parts I bought some that have been sitting outside the housing for a bit out of the weather but doing other stuff around it has left some little surface rust spot on the big gear you put bearing blue on. Even though this is an H233, the 3rd member is completely different than the USDM H233B found in R50, D21, WD21, Xterra, etc. The one you say is scrap are the ones we have in the USA. They work fine.

Hey mate love your videos just curious as to why some tracks you don’t say the name of ??
@DanielKistler
@DanielKistler 3 жыл бұрын
Brandon Surace a few reason which I’ll quickly point out but there is more. - the tracks on the video look easy, in reality they aren’t. If someone tries the attempt them and they are unprepared or don’t have the skills there is a high chance something could go wrong and then they close off the tracks and it ruins it for people who enjoy it. - increased traffic also means increased rubbish, that is annoying -instead of giving away the secrets of some of the funnest tracks in that area, I’d rather encourage people to go out and explore for themselves and see what they come across. There’s plenty that I Havnt seen so I try and do the same. Grab the map and go for a drive. Long list of other reasons but they are a couple thanks for watching. Cheers

@DanielKistler

@DanielKistler
@DanielKistler 3 жыл бұрын
You can buy the shim from roadrunner OffRoad. They sell it in 2 sizes, .55mm or .7mm
@DanielKistler
@DanielKistler 2 жыл бұрын
@DreadRenegade20 you need to check if it’s the small lsd or the large. But it’s all dependent on the kms of the lsd and what work it’s done. .55 is usually the go though
@DanielKistler
@DanielKistler 2 жыл бұрын
@DreadRenegade20 front and rear axle splines are different and different size so unless you can change the side gears you won’t get one in the front! If arb lockers are installed correctly you won’t have an issue, they are by far the best lockers on the market. Put one in the front and keep the lsd in the rear

Don't you have to preload the bearings after setting the backlash??
@DanielKistler

Yes, didn’t really mention it as it has bearing preload whilst setting backlash and once it’s to spec the preload nuts are tight so it’s just a quick check before putting the keepers on.
