So I got on to Dayz pretty late. I like to play on a low volume official server. I have a small base with a tent, an oven, and an improvised shelter. One day i was creeping up on a zombie and to my surprise i see a car coming in my direction !! My heart started racing I had 2 thoughts come to mind “YO YOU CAN GET CARS!!!!!” And “whoever this guy is, he must be stacked”. So i proceed to pull out my Sporter and I take my shot. And in true Dayz fashion I missed and the guy pulls over, I see him go behind some rocks and i give chase. Mind yall i was at a distance.. this man proceeds to pull out a sniper rifle and i could feel the bullets coming close. I executed the most flawless zig zag retreat ever only to fall off a cliff and break a leg. Thankfully he didnt give chase otherwise I would have been done !!! But yeah having a car is helpful however zombies get attracted to the sound i believe.

@@Nitno Not a problem :) I just wanted to know as well, I came across a lot of cars in Dayz that looked like they could be fixed, and with good parts on them, but I've never been able to get the Tab menu where you can place all of the parts. Will this only work on cars with a pristine chassis? Sorry for the noob question!

Yep the pipe wrench will fix an engine, but as far as I tested, it will not fix a ruined engine (red state).

@@Nitno We had a green one, the prefacelift version. The number indicates the engine version, so 120 was 1.2L and 105 was 1.0L. The prefacelift looks more luxurious to me because of all the chrome and glossy interior gauges and panels, the facelifted version called M had everything in rubber and/or in rubber textured matte plastic. I would like to buy the car after I finish school since it’s still too expensive for me right now (those cars are getting pricier every year and to get a cheap one, you have to do a rebuild)

How to open the UI for the car? I keep running around cars tapping Tab (inventory), but I can't get any to open the UI. Also, if I build a car, how long will it last if I die or log out?

I suspect you may be going to wrecked vehicles and trying to check them for the UI. So Drive-able Vehicles and Wrecked Vehicles are different, Wrecked are basically static objects in the world, that you cannot fix up, they are just to find random items inside, and you can pillage them for parts like tires and doors. Drive-able vehicles are different and actually pretty rare, you'll see the UI of a drive-able vehicle. I beleive vehicles last 7-14 days before despawning, but you can touch it/interact with it and it will reset/extend that timer. Also if the engine of the car is ruined it will despawn quicker as engines cannot be fixed, and you cannot extend the timer.

Sarka is the best car hands down it has the engine, radiator and stuff in the back so when you accidentally crash into the tree 1 shotting your car when a lag spike happens the sarka will be fine in that scenario because you don’t usually crash high speed in reverse

OK, new question, and I think I know the answer. Do you have to use Olga tires on an Olga, and so on? or can you use Sarka tires on an Olga, etc? Is there any trick to getting tires? I checked 12 Olgas and found no tires, but lots of sarka tires and gunter tires

The vehicle should save where you left it... unless someone finds it and drives it away. It will only despawn if the engine is ruined or it is not moved and interacted with for many days I believe.

You should be able to target them and pull them off. If not they may be locked, tires can be unlocked / locked with a tire-iron.

You can fit a car tire in some of the biggest backpacks. Otherwise you'd need to carry it by hand.

@@Nitno Oh, so I've figured it out. You can actually do it, but it's pretty silly. You have to stand on your front windshield, and look straight down towards your front hood. There's a very *small* sweet spot, so wave your view around until you find it. It's all the way in the back towards the center, iirc. This is on Xbox btw

I've only just gotten the game a few days ago and got a car up and going but as I was driving the game lagged and the car crashed I fixed up almost all the parts but the radiator is damaged and I'm not sure how to repair it. I'm in the process of trying to find a replacement but I'd like to know if you can fix a damaged one.

Hello lleyton, it depends on how damages it is. Try taking it out and placing it in your inventory. If it is red then it is ruined and you need a new one.

If the engine is ruined it can't be fixed, then how would I get the car going again? Is it a new raidator/spark plug/battery? Or has the whole thing died and i need to find a new car?

If the engine has a RED dot, it is dead and broken without being repairable. Any other color it can be repaired with a pipe wrench. If just the radiator, spark plug, or battery is RED, then it can be repaired with spare parts.

How do you know what cars struture are good? For me cars are all destroyed

Good question, so most cars in the open world are just props and can't be interacted with. Cars that can be repaired will have an inventory system when you inspect them. If the car engine has a red dot next to it, this means it is broken beyond repair. Any other color such as orange or green can be repaired.

WTF! How do I keep my vehicle on the ground? I keep either flying into the air or sinking into the ground... sometimes it corrects itself but a lot of the times it gets stuck or shoots the car into the sky. Is there a fix for this?

Yikes! I've seen videos like this. From my understanding it's an issue with servers not able to handle the player count (server load) and lagging then things start going crazy with cars. Maybe a lower pop server or one hosted on better hardware. I can't say for sure.

No tools needed. Just place them in. You can LOCK car parts with screw drivers and wrenches.

Anyone having trouble getting the epoxy to work on certain parts of the Chassis of an Ada 4x4? Ive driven around and checked every angle and for some reason the front and rear (of course typically the two most necessary parts to be repaired) wont prompt me to fix the car when the epoxy is in my hands.

Good question. I do know there are vidoes out there of organized races on private servers. There also used to be a legit bridge jump, not sure if that still exists. I like where you are going with this though.

If parts (tires/battery) are removed from a truck while storing it, will it despawn when the server restarts?

They car should remain there, a ruined engine is what will cause a car to despawn. I'd make sure to interact with it regularly though just for peace of mind.

Is there to repair the actual vehicle, for example my Olga has everything pristine however when looking at the seats for example it shows it as damaged. No tool I currently uses fixes that.

Im new to dayz, I had an incident with my car and managed to brake all my front like the bonnet, doors and tires. I can still drive it with broken tires, will something happen eventually to where i wont be able to drive it with the broken tires or can i just keep using the car with broken tires without anything happening?

I do believe your tires will eventually go ruined, especially if you have any more bumps. Try to find a Tire Repair Kit and fix them up!

Good question, unfortunately you'll have to find them in the open world. Not all cars are repairable, they will have a UI if they are repairable. They can be quite rare depending on what server you are playing on. Some cars will need to be repaired more than others. It's even possible a car is ready to go when you find it.

I have a question, I noticed that you can open the hood on the wrecked cars but is it actually worth it ? Can I find something under the hood except the ruined engine ?

I could be mistaken, but I believe opening the hood only is helpful if you are looking to take the hood in your hands and place the hood on a real car you are fixing.

I found a car with everything in the hood that is required to drive. Fill up the radiator with water and suddenly it started smoking with a yellow check engine. Any idea what went wrong?

Hmm, strange... I mean that does sound like an issue with the radiator. Any change the radiator was damaged? Also if you fill the radiator with water, BUT then remove the radiator it empties the water, so placing it back in would place it empty. Also maybe the actual engine was damaged?

Good question, no I don't believe they can be fixed. I just went and double checked with a number of tools and nothing was able to fix the a radiator. (as of 1.10)

I don't, it could be a server side thing. Usually when I get that, turning the car off and getting out fixes it. Sometimes it doesn't though.

I found the 4x4 one and i finished fix it but it was long way from home and was like 6am when i finish it so i put some water but forget to check engine when i got home i exit the car and it was red :c

Hi, I have an Ada and when I look at the seat it shows it being badly damaged. What exactly is damaged and how do I repair this? I'm worried it will despawn if it turns to ruined even though my engine is pristine.

Hrmm it is hard to say without a screenshot. Have you opened the hood and inspected each part? (even the spare tire if there is one)

Yeh I have the same problem with the gunter, everything is pristine apart from the chassis which is also badly damaged. Tried a load of items to try and repair it but dont get any prompts

so it actually has to be more than 3/4th full radiator, so even if you feel like youve added a lot, try to fill it completely till it doesn't let you anymore.

Is there a way on PC to drop whats in your hand fast so I can switch to a weapon? its too slow to tab and then drag the item out of my hands and then load the weapon from my hot bar.

Was wondering .. how do you fix bumpers and roofs tho? I tried epoxy for the roof doesn't work and I'm still pretty new to maintain cars in dayz. I've had the weirdest glitch where my Olga just flipped on the roof and back on its wheel while driving on a straight road. So only my roof got damaged 😂😂

I do not believe you can fix the roof and bumper at this time. If anything, it would epoxy.

You can't unfortunately. Best bet is to use your car to drive around and find a replacement and swap parts.

Do car engines wear out or why engine of my car started to get damaged without any reason? Radiator full of water, didn't crash or rev too high. After driving around the block a couple of times check engine light popped up and engine went from pristine to damaged. Same every time after I repaired engine with pipe wrench. Only reason I could came up is that there's limit how much car can be driven before engine wears out and starts to self destruct and I had that car for a long time.

That is very strange. Maybe the radiator needed more water? I believe it needs at least 75% of the water gauge to avoid damage.

if the car is red? can you repair it? i was just driving a gunter and it started smoking and now the car is red instead of green. Its not letting me add any of the parts onto it anymore

Red engine cannot be repaired. If it was just any other part that went red, you can replace the part. You can maintain the engine health if you repair it with a pipe wrench, but once it hits red it's permanently busted.

I was just playing on runningmanz Livonia server and was hyped about finding a car and I had all the parts, but didn’t realize the radiator would lose water so quick and make the engine unrepairable. Thanks for the vid though! I’ll definitely go back again to make sure I got everything I need for a car.

@@BrickPB If you fill the radiator till it no longer needs water, it will stay full. if you only fill it partially it will steam and run out of water. You can drive a car very short distances without water or a radiator and then let it cool off.
