I love Champloo, but a huge mistake a lot of people seem to gloss over when addressing the soundtrack is ignoring the influences of Force of Nature, and Fat Jon, both huge parts of the soundtrack alongside Nujabes. We owe credit to them for also creating some of the best tracks in the soundtrack.

Samurai champloo couldn't have come at a better time in the mid 2000s,it combined two things i loved samurai lore and hiphop Personally i was starting college, meeting new people, gaining new experiences, learning more about myself The anime paralleled my life, its not about the destination but the journey and yeah i've met people Some good, some bad, others weird, others wise ,even fell in love But when graduation arrived,we did what the 3 protags did and went our separate ways, heck i had san francisco playing in my head the moment i left the gymnasium on grad night Everything about this anime was dope, the ambience, the soundtracks, fight scenes, characters etc, I loved cowboy bebop but sam champloo will always be slightly better

The ending of Champloo always makes me tear up. When I first saw it I was glad they didn't go the normal "lets stay together" route. And that decision elevated the story for me. Yeah there are some dumb episodes in Champloo but those couple of gem episodes (Sara, Mugen's backstory, Jin's lover) are the ones I love going back to. Great video man and you're video did have a purpose because it reminded me how much I love this story.

I loved the song played at the final moments of Samurai Champloo. San Fransico was its name if I remember correctly. That hit hard. Really hard. And, I always hated those feelings. I never liked walking home after hanging out with a group of friends for an entire day with the setting sun encircling me, but San Fransico captures that and keeps a high note. It's the end, but that just means another chapter will open up tomorrow, and something new awaits me.

many people like Mugen or Jin but my favourite has always been Fuu. for no particular reason. also each time i go watch i understand something new about the trio. For example, the first time I missed that the reason Jin and Mugen tried to protect Fuu is because they consider her a little sister, that Jin was actually the most sensitive compassionate one of the trio, that the only reason fuu gets into so much trouble is because she actually likes an adventure (don't get fooled by her words girl just wanna have fun lol), also Mugen isn't emotionless he has just seen so much of the ugly side of the world that it's became funny.

This was one of the first anime that I watched over and over again and it was also the anime that got me into lo-fi hip-hop as a whole. Listening to Nujabes is just an amazing experience and not just that but Nujabes is still my favorite producer to this day and I think that he will be my favorite till the day I die. As you said, the music really makes the story. It teaches you so much like how life is about the journey itself and not the destination, no matter who tells you so, the importance of moving on ahead and hell, the more I think about it, this anime lowkey saved me in some regard.

Just finished the series today. Watched some other videos about how other people perceived the show but it felt like I just wasn't able to see the show that way. Now it's 4 in the morning and this video got suddenly recommended and I thought I could definitely do with a fresh take on the series and so I clicked it. Very well edited video with perfect placement of the soundtrack. This alone speaks the truth about your love for the show. Apart from that, I think this video clicked with me the most. Every previous video I watched focused a lot on the "plot" and how it's just barely there for 4 episodes and suddenly decides to rush in near the end and such. But everything honestly felt natural to me, which is why I'm glad you didn't even go there. Great video, definitely subscribed.

If you haven't seen this entire show in Japanese, I would strongly recommend you do so. Not only does it make the show feel more authentic to its setting, but you will miss out on some of the greatest voice acting of all time if you skip the original version. Mugen's original Japanese voice actor is incredible. As great as Bloom is (I love him as Wolverine), there are certain Japanese linguistic and cultural cues that cannot be replicated in other languages, that make the characters - especially Mugen - more funny and badass. So if you've seen the show in English already (as I have), a re-watch in the original soundtrack is worth it.

I hardly ever watch anime anymore, as I simply grew disinterested, but Samurai Champloo is one of the only ones that I regularly go back to. Nothing has ever really hit the same spot for me as this series.

in all the various times i've heard people talk about that mindset that "you shouldn't be sad that it's over, be glad it happened!" i've never heard anyone think about it your way; "even though they've gone their separate ways, they'll always be connected through their memories together," until just now. and honestly it's really beautiful. i love that.

I'm glad to hear people talking like that about Samurai Champloo. This anime will accompany me for the rest of my life, with a couple of other. The show is a perfect definition of how important the journey is. And how everything, even if it was great must come to an end. I have the ending scene, when they all three face signs, tattooed on my calf. And I hope I will be able to talk about it with my grandkids if I have some.

This and cowboy bebop were my first animes I’ve ever experienced and that was all thanks to late night adult swim back in 2007, coming home from middle school to just sit in awe at these 2 shows and me falling asleep to the soundtrack every night. I will forever be thankful for experiencing watanabes shows because they shaped who I am today and we’re the reasons I started to watch anime, unfortunately there’s practically almost no other shows that are like samurai champloo at all but that’s ok because it truly is one of a kind. Mugen and Spike are literally the templates of my 6th grade self lmao

Fuu is sitting the way she does because women during the edo period typically sat in a way to make themselves appear more submissive and smaller. Considering the jobs she’s worked especially serving men it makes sense. The way they sit is actually extremely interesting to me bc it really poses how they were brought up. Mugen is indigenous Japanese he has tan skin meaning he worked outside therefore considered of lower class (mannerisms, the wild style of the way fights), meanwhile Jin was raised in a well to due upbringing and properly trained (or what’s to be considered respectable as a samurai) in the traditional style of fighting. It’s a very compelling and complex way of showing the difference in class and the status they held. It also gives way as to why they approach solutions to problems or their way of approach when they’re in a jam. This show is such a goddamn testament to character study it’s insane.
