9 күн бұрынFor months now I have talked about how Brady Tkachuk of the Ottawa Senators would be an amazing addition to the New Jersey Devils roster. I have talked about how magical I think he would be for the franchise.
There have been countless rumors and speculations about where he may end up, while Ottawa Senators General Manager Steve Staios adamantly denied it all.
I have been thinking the past day or so...
How did NJ Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald fail to bring in a Top 6 forward during the NHL Draft or NHL Free Agency?
I have started to analyze everything and I have come up with a verrrryyyyy interesting theory.
I may be delusional, but I may not be!

If something like that does get worked I highly doubt that Palat waives to go to Ottowa and chooses to go to a team in a complete rebuild.

@@runninwiththedevils ABSOLUTELY!!! no less than 9 mil locked up for 8 years....cap is only projected to go up about 4 mil...we will have a serious cap crunch. Do you hope he takes a family discount and takes the Jack contract at 8x8? Yes. But Slafkovsky just got 7.6x8. I would think that puts Luke at 9 per.

@@martinpurliet7438 Canes lost a ton. Going from Pecse and Skeij to Walker and Ghost is a bigtime downgrade for their D. Getting Slavin under contract was nice but he's not a #1 Dman like he has to be now. Also lost Guentzel and Noesen. They'll be good again probably but I dont think they are Cup contenders anymore.

One thing to factor in about missing a Top 6 Forward, 3 of our D are offensively gifted. We have a Dougie bomb again! Luke & Nemec can both SKATE and since they'll be playing less minutes this season they should both be FLYING. I'm sure their offensive game will grow under Keefe too. You can look at each line like there's an Offensive D and a Defensive D pairing. That's a luxury most teams don't have! They are still young and either one could go through a sophomore slump this season... But if they only get better we will be more than fine without making a blockbuster trade. Ottawa won't be trading their captain until they absolutely have to. By all means if they aren't in the playoff race, Ullmark refuses to sign an extension and they are forced to flip him at the trade deadline... That'll hurt. But Matthew didn't get out of Calgary until he was due for an extension and I believe it'll be the same for Brady. Plus Palat has a full no move clause. We have to hope we can trade him July 2025 to one of 10 teams he picks. Hopefully Keefe gets him going too!

@Dracast13 We will certainly enjoy getting plenty of offensive production from the back end! I do love our potential D pairings. I haven't liked them THIS much in YEARS! Brady will be asking/demanding out soon enough. I can't see Brady rotting there for 4 more seasons. He will become suicidal. Especially after watching his brother JUST win the Cup. We may be stuck with Palat for some time. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!

Ok , guys . Here’s a master plan . Mercer and Hamilton for Brady , add Casey or pick(s) if needed . After that ship Palat to Neshville to reunite with Stamkos (retain some salary if needed ) for Askarov . We’ll be complete in every department for years ! OMG ! I am a genius !

Nemec, is a hard NO. I’m not for giving up a potential defensive beast, one who may end up being the finest defenseman to ever emerge from Europe. There are other deals that are jus5 as appealing. Nemec is an absolute pillar of New Jersey’s future.

Reunite Tatar-Hischier-Mercer (a proven line from 2 seasons ago) and then have Bratt-Jack-Meier as our 2nd line. I'd say Jack has some serious support and firepower on that line, especially Meier who can play a heavy game. While I don't think we need Brady, he would be an objectively great addition, but your proposed trade still leaves us needing a top 6 winger - maybe this proposal can be tabled for another year to see if 1) Brady asks out from an underachieving Ottawa and 2) if Hämeenaho or Gritsyuk come over, but I personally don't think we need Brady with the defensive and bottom 6 beefed up now. If OTT were to trade Brady this summer, it would only be for a drastic overpay and I don't want to see this team blown up for that. With just a hair under $5M left for Mercer, I'm comfortable taking this team to Prague in October. EDIT: Appreciate you taking the time to respond to so many comments. Tatar is ok but honestly he doesn’t move the needle at all . Is a serviceable player but remember he’s two years older . Personally I think they should have taken a flyer for a younger player for a bit cheaper like Yamamoto or zadina

@@runninwiththedevilsI dont see a way to sign Mercer and get Tkachuk with the salary cap NJ has. Lets say we put in trade the best option from NJ’s point of view: Palat + sth. In that case, NJ will have +2,2M from Tkachuk contract compared to Palat. So that leaves only 2,775M in salary cap for Mercer and Foote. I dont think Ottawa will keep about 2M from his contract for 4 years. Main problem in this deal is that Ottawa will not want a veteran such as Palat and we dont have any chance to fit under the salary with his contract. NJ would have to sacrifice Mercer, which is not the way we want. One trade proposal: NJ: Brady Tkachuk (10% retained) Ott: Ondrej Palat, Nick DeSimone, Stillman Chase, 1st round pick 2026, 2nd round in 2025 Note: Nick DeSimone will give us extra 775M, 10% of retained salary will give us ~820M, in total almost 1,6M Note 2: Bad price of Palat’s contract is compensated with 2nd round pick.

Ace, you got the best channel man. Thanks for giving us unfiltered opinions, and people definitely should appreciate the sincerity. I hope your theory pans out, as it would be great to see Brady in NJ. (I am excited Tatar is back, and think/hope he picks up some of the slack when we need some goals when top guys may have an off night.) I don’t believe Fitz is done either, as I think he would announce that more clearly. (Unless I missed it.) We don’t know conversations behind closed doors that may have happened, or may be happening. Just wish he at least landed Henrique for a Forward addition or even Zadorov on the Blue Line. I’m happy though. We got some tough mofo’s now and it’s going to be funny watching the complete reversal of last years mess. We will probably get the rinse and repeat “hopes and dreams” answers. Salesman type answers. But it’s expected. Someone should also ask him about the stockpile of goaltenders in the minors and what is the plan for all these guys. Plus, what is the expected timeline for Anton the Giant. We know he has 2 years, but is there a chance at seeing him earlier? He should come clean on Holtz and Schmid too.

I like your thinking but I doubt it happens now . Perhaps around trade deadline or next summer if Ottawa bottoms out . I don’t doubt that tkachuk would like to be here . He has ties to Fitz and supposedly loves Hoboken and the shore . The best part would be hearing the ranger fans wine and be all be dumbfounded as to why Brady wouldn’t wanna play for them 😂

That's what it is. I kind of feel it's happening. It's been quiet on Tkachuk. A lot of noise before and Fitz being family and Brady's wife being from Jersey and just having a kido..it would make magical perfect sense 😊

Tatar might not be a star pickup individually but he was amazing with the line he had so much chemistry with in the past. For that I'm definitely excited about it, but the lack of Mercer details does have me wondering what's going on behind the scenes... Also finally a Dillon interview has been released.

I’d be celebrating to the moon if this does happen. I think it’s a pipe dream at the moment but life has taught me things can change very very quickly. And I’d basically be ok with giving them anyone they want in a deal that doesn’t have the name Hughes on the back of their sweater. Brady is worth it.

If Fitz manages to pull off a deal for Brady, that truly is him sliding all the chip in on this team for the next couple years. The top six would be locked in beyond then, but he has built an improved team top to bottom, net out. And that gives them at least two shots at it before needing to reevaluate the goaltending. It would be tough to see pieces like Mercer and Nemec who have so many years ahead of them gone, but it’s about win now. Since 2003, it’s been 20 years of varying levels of dumpster fire. Only bright spots being 2012 run to finals and two seasons ago beating Rags. Time to go all in for the hopes of achieving the ultimate goal of winning a fourth Stanley Cup.

I think we could keep Nemec and still get the trade done. I see siges as the D going back to give Ottawa an affordable left shot D. I’d love for this to happen. But I think Staios wants to try to convince Brady to stay. Otherwise he wouldn’t have made the Ullmark move and brought in multiple veterans. It won’t work, of course, and Brady will ask to be traded next Summer.

We got our top6 winger with Tatar back! Like this comment if you think Joe should get on his hands and knees, kiss fitzy’s feet and call him daddy. Our team is set! Fitz has done almost everything right since he took over, you can count on one hand the mistakes he’s made. Don’t judge fitz solely on a lost season last year where we had more money on IR than on the active roster, vitek and shmid fell off drastically and no goalie wanted to move their no trade clause. Fitz has completely rebuilt this team this offseason and we arguably have the best team we’ve had under fitz or shero and he deserves credit when it’s due! LGD!

The Tatar Nico Mercer line 2 years ago was one of the best lines in all of hockey. They were all like a +40 Everyone and their sister wanted Tatar back last year. He’s a perfect fit for what this team needs and already has chemistry. We don’t need another 45 goal scorer, it’s about having the right players and Tatar is definitely one of them.

As much as I'd like to see it, I don't see it. Ottawa looks like they're trying to make the playoffs this year. They're not going to trade Brady if that's their goal. If they wanted to rebuild, I think they might be ok with Mercer and Nemec for Brady but I don't see why they'd want Palat. If Ottawa stinks and drops out of contention this season ... and that part is entirely likely because they're Ottawa ... MAYBE something could happen before the trade deadline or next off-season but it would still take some serious cap maneuvering.

At that point the Senators would be somewhat handcuffed in terms of moving Brady. Why wait until you inevitably miss the playoffs this year, and then have to deal with moving him at that point?!? They will never get a bigger return for him than they would NOW. They wouldn't "want" Palat but would likely take him on to make the deal work, as long as they feel they are compensated. This is definitely not happening this year, if at all, and Fitz would really have to pay to get Palat off the books in this trade. It would probably take a high pick, a blue chip prospect, Mercer, and Nemec at a minimum. I enjoy the discussion, it is fun to talk about, but just think this is pure hopium. Unless Brady demands a trade and forces NJ to the top of the list this won't happen at all via trade and I don't think Brady is there yet with Ottawa. It's more likely when Brady makes it to UFA if Fitz is still here, the ties to NJ are still strong, Palat is gone, and the cap has gone up.

@@runninwiththedevils well no, but for the money currently left and re-signing Mercer this wasn't bad. Hopefully something bigger happens like you outlined in the video - but I truly don't think Ottawa entertains this until the TDL or summer of '25.

@jeffa.7618 Brady has a NMC that kicks in on 7/1/25. At that point they would be somewhat handcuffed in trying to move him. His value will never be higher than it is right NOW #BringBradyToNJ

i cant even lie, when i saw the title of this i was like huh?? 😂 but honestly the further i got into the video the more sense it started to make. my dream trade for brady would be palat and nemec (i like mercer too much but i see what you're saying with him). with the recent signing of kovacevic i was definitely confused, but this makes a lot of sense. even if its not exactly for brady but for another big name, i think this is a very solid idea. cmon fitz pull through!!

Why don't we do this but trade Casey and Palat and Mercer instead? Mercer adds some value and they can't afford to pay Nemo in a couple years anyway. They already have Sanderson and Chabot on expensive deals, but Casey would be a cheaper option that is more nimble than what they already have. Plus Brady isn't going just anywhere. He's the team captain and not that cheap with 3 years of NMC coming up so if he's not happy then nobody will want that. So why trade Nemo if we don't have to?

@GoodMenstruationAttitude I would love to pull this move off and keep Nemec. However, Nemec and Luke are both going to be coming off their ELC's soon, and they will be getting massive raises. It may be difficult to fit them. I would LOVE to keep Brady AND keep Nemec! That would be ideal in my book. #BringBradyToNJ
