0:00 Hello Everyone
World Chess Champion Ding Liren returns for the 86th edition of the Tata Steel Masters, a 14-player single round-robin taking place from 13-28 January in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands.
The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 50 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment per move from move 1. A tie for first place will be decided by two blitz (3+2) games. If still tied, the players keep playing single "sudden death" games where White gets 2.5 minutes and Black 3 minutes until one side wins. The monetary prizes will be shared evenly. a few reasons, the most glaring reason being covid, and many Chinese gms’s careers took a dive due to covid and the travel restrictions that it created. you might realise that you didn’t see much of ding liren either until mid 2022, but the truth is that before Covid, ding was and has been one of the strongest players and he simply just didn’t have any physical tournaments to impress in, and if you told a chess fan in 2018 that ding liren became world champion, they would have been less surprised than chess fans last year when it happened, as most of said fans gained interest in chess when a wave of popularity hit during Covid, so they would have never witnessed these strong Chinese players play. btw, Wei yi is actually the youngest ever person to reach 2700 rating, breaking Magnus carlsens record which was thought to be unbeatable. a few years ago, the hype for Wei yi was immense, he was praised then as much as firouzja and praggnananda now
@rosehit3886

@@upisntdownsillyI agree 100% about Wei yi, but Ding is not playing top level as a world champ should (magnus) or even fabiano. Yes, in this tournament a lot of players played their worst tournament but Ding should have made a difference from others. Just imagine magnus playing here...

@@rosehit3886 but ding is playing top level, i understand people are blind cavemans and expect 13/13 from hum, but just look wider and notice ding is after psychical disease and long break, he will be going to rock in next tournaments
@xx765
@xx765 5 ай бұрын
@@rosehit3886 the point he was making about Ding is his performance pre Covid. Ding was fire in 2019 who definitely looked like he is as good as anyone who isn't named Magnus. At the moment Ding is going through his post-championship whatever trouble, but this has nothing to do with the original topic.

Hi Antonio.. Your analysis of the game is incredible.. In the Wei yi vs vidit game the point when black queen is on g6 you said vidit can sacrifice queen and later he can grab his queen.. I think it works only if later Knight discover check king by Ne8 rather than Nd5 and vidit could have win this game anyway bad luck.

Very nice game! This tournament really had many interesting games to watch. The only thing suspicious to me is how the organizers scheduled Anish Giri's last two games against his countryman, it is not very professional to my eyes even if there was probably no foul play. I almost wanted to bet money that he'd win them. Also I'd need to verify but it seems Indian players drew all their games between each other , maybe it was a coincidence but it caught my attention.

Bravo Wei Yi to play the unfashionable colle system, just like Alireza who played 1.Nc3. At last some change in chess , it is needed. Also, am I the only one to find that the pairings are rather strange. Each year Giri plays a duchman the last round. The players of the same nation ought to play in the first rounds.

3rd: Why isn't Vidit the biggest reason India would want classical 9LX? --- They should have tata steel 9LX, tata steel india 9LX, AICF 9LX, etc In fact tata steel 9LX makes more sense than tata steel chess because single round robins in chess randomly assign colours when white has a clear human advantage. In 9LX, the advantage (so far?) is only in computers. --- 0 2023Nov Update - Vidit won the 2023 Grand Swiss! 2024Jan Update - India No1 ! 1 Vidit beat Sergey Karjakin to get in the 2019 WFRCC quarter-finals. But then... Wesley So & Fabi expectedly do better in classical than in rapid for both 9LX & chess. Now, I'm not familiar with Vidit but - Wesley So does 30% better. - Fabi does 40% better. - VIDIT DOES 300% BETTER. LIKE 50% CLASSICAL SCORE BUT 12.5% RAPID SCORE. 2 Vidit in 9LX - is the top Indian classical player - is the worst rapid player among the top 9 of the 2019 WFRCC. - in classical ties for 2nd place w/ Fabi & Nepo behind Wesley So. 3 When is Tata Steel Classical Chess960 ? It should be a knockout where Vidit is seeded into the quarter-finals. It can be 60min, not 120min. 4 In the 2019 WFRCC, wesley so beat magnus in 3x classical in a row! Question : When was the last time this happened in chess that someone lost 3x classical in a row in the finals of a FIDE or PCA WCC (or finals of knockouts candidates or semi-finals of a knockout WCC) ? Answer : Vishy Anand beat Alexei Shirov in 2000. 2 whole decades Vishy's record stood - broken only in a variant! Sources: p1w4Rr-bC JxIdCEj6_E8 P.S. Wesley So on Lex Fridman xcdhgq P.P.S. Interview while imprisoned p1w4Rr-1Uk Pablo Mercado: So what is your advice to the Filipino chess players? Uncle Bobby Fischer: My advice is to give up chess and take up Fischer Random. - 2004Oct11, 15 years before nephew Wesley So became the inaugural WFRCC in CLASSICAL time controls.
