Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.

Donyboy, I believe that all Honda’s with these dipsticks are not supposed to be screwed in to check the oil. Just inserted. All of my Honda engines say this information.

On these you fill it up all the way to the top until oil leaks out of the hole. No dipstick needed.

From the eu2000i User Manual. *Loosen the maintenance cover screw and remove the maintenance cover. Remove the oil filler cap, and wipe with a clean rag. Check the oil level by inserting the dipstick in the oil filler hole without screwing in.*

You are so right about these being better. They do look like the knock offs but they last and last. I would even rather have a used Honda than a new knock off. Good video Don.

On those you’re actually not supposed to screw the dipstick in the dipstick is just supposed to be layed in to check the same as their mowers,dipstick thread depth is probably 5/8” or so and even though dipstick is on an angle you’re not getting a full 5/8” of depth extra but the difference that can make when screwed in can make a big difference if you’re just checking oil routinely and it’s already a bit low. The oil on those models should just drip out or be close to top of the threads,according to Honda.

Pretty nice little trick! I have a Simplicity lawn tractor with a B+S Vanguard V-Twin, and its oil drain has a similar little hose attached from the factory. (Still possible to make a mess if you try to use too big of an oil pan that can't get in there...) On the other hand, my older Snapper snow blower has an almost-uselessly-short little extension pipe on its oil drain. That one is almost guaranteed to be a mess, even if I drag it back to the workshop with the hoist.

fluid evacuators are ideal for removing fluids from small tanks and reservoirs. These units are lightweight and portable, and include integrated reservoirs. I use mine for all my engines car and trucks and change the filter from above if possible. Oil is cheap so change it often

I have a new Honda 2200i. Do you recommend any kind of break in procedure? I have the Honda 10w-30, but read I could use synthetic after about 10 hours. I’m in a colder climate (20 F)..... should I use 5w-30? Thanks for any specific information you can provide.

Great Video. How about a video on preparing for storage. Seems to me there is no fuel shut off if I remember, of course either way I empty the tank. But a little more difficult to do cause if I remember right you can’t tip it to drain gas out or oil will fill up air cleaner. Maybe do it in conjunction with the oil change.

Great little basic PM oil change video ! I own and agree this model is well worth the extra dollars. I would like to add it would make another good video on this generator showing the other features as shown in the owners manual such as the lights and how they indicate running hours for maintenance, the on,off valve on the gas cap,and how a replacement cap and hose can connect to a 5 gallon or larger tank to allow it to run for days without shutting it down for refueling. It along with the companion model can also run parallel cords for a combined 4000 watts of power with 2 generators if you need more power to run the A.C. and other appliances at the same time. Maybe show proper long term storage prep or as I do, run it at least once a month for 10 minutes with load every month year round to avoid plugging the carb jet from gas with ethanol and it will all ways be ready within a couple of pulls when needed. Thanks for the informative videos.

I'm surprised you don't use an oil sucker for your small engines. I started using one for my mowers, generators, etc. a few years ago and it has made oil changes mess free. The bonus is not having to deal with those silly crush washers on the Honda drain plugs.
@RussellBooth1977
@RussellBooth1977 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah ! The Honda push mowers don't have a drain plug so the oil has to be drained out of the oil dipstick filler tube. The oil level is checked without screwing the dipstick in on them.

Hi db73. My mother had a same kind of Honda generator, but for some reason it blew up. It had oil in it and it didn,t run that many hours, so it's very strange. I know that Honda is the ultimate manufactor in gasoline powered generators, so it's difficult understand. Do you think we could sell it for parts, because the generator might still be allright?
