He's right on the cusp of breaking 10.1, which I think he will do. And if he continues with the 200 he can definitely break 20. I'd love to see him as a 100/200, 4x1 and 4x4 guy rather than a 400, 4x4 guy.

For a college team, 2:58 is an unbelievable time. It was also an incredibly impressive run by Knighton and Holloway for their part in a 2:57 relay with Adidas. For two short sprinters, that shows some incredible talent and versatility.

@@dennisrobinson8008 Actually, it was pretty obvious. I think you just see things on the surface level and don't dive deep into them. Knighton split 44 high in a 4x4 race last year, and has a 47 second open PB from 2019. He was 15 when he ran 47 seconds. He always had the potential to go 45 in the open, and as you can see here he half jogged a 45 in a relay.

I think you’ve got a really good opportunity to be one of the only/first people to make a video about Favour Ofili, who just ran a national and collegiate record of 21.96 at only 19 years of age. She’s a phenomenal talent.

Can't really make a video about Favor when she gets demolished by Steiner everytime they race
@Elliottklassen
@Elliottklassen 2 жыл бұрын
@@jonsheldon9005 Sure you can. Then you can just also make a video on Steiner. Downplaying Favour doesn’t make Steiner seem any more impressive. It’s exactly the opposite. If everybody is already aware that Favour is the collegiate record holder and incredibly talented in her own right, they’ll be even more interested and impressed when Steiner beats her. Not to mention that while Steiner is phenomenally impressive, part of what makes Favour so impressive is her age. Steiner is 3 years older, so she doesn’t have the appeal in that regard as Ofili.
@timmytheinventor4746
@timmytheinventor4746 2 жыл бұрын
@@Elliottklassen I don't know why Steiner is so much more appealing than Ofili. Like Ofili is literally the collegiate record holder right now and although Steiner has beaten her every time they race, you can still make a video about her.

@@jonsheldon9005 Ah, an American. It's Favour, not Favor. And yes, he can make a video about Favour because he's the collegiate record holder. Boling being beaten multiple times this year didn't stop TRP from continuing to make videos about him. I think that you just have an underlying (maybe national) bias.
@tkk3852
@tkk3852 2 жыл бұрын
True. Plus Ofili is 3 years younger than Steiner so it is not even a fair comparison anyway. Steiner has more experience under her belt. The more experience an athlete has the better they become. Look at Mathew Boling who had a terrible 2021 and now is having an amazing 2022

Its confusing because you would think he would be better at the 100 and 400 hurdles than he is at the 60 but no. I disagree that the Addidas team winning the race was a "formality". The collegiate athletes have way more races under their belts, including indoors. That 2:57 was extremely impressive for this time of the year. More than likely, the pros are just training through this meet. On the other hand, now is probably the only opportunity the collegians can produce quick times. NC A&T went under early last year, but did not do it again.

Florida was very impressive. But keep in mind the USC time was on the final day of NCAA’s. Meaning they didn’t just run a relay or a short sprint, but multiple races. 400m/400h prelims. Prelims of the 4x4, 400m/400h finals (both collegiate records btw) Then the 4x4 final. Also they weren’t being pulled along by a pro team running 2:57. Being relatively fresh and chasing I can’t see them running slower than Florida did here. But we will never know. And Florida could be running 2:57 by the end of the year

@@SilencedButNotForgotten Lol a couple of the top performances being run like this does not overshadow the vast majority of the best 400m's being run with large positives splits. Something has changed. Either the track, shoes, outfits, or steroids. There is no way there is this much improvement across the field year over year and it's due to a natural phenomenon. I realize Usain Bolt probably helped propel 100m sprinters to learn there is faster out there, but this is insane how many athletes are smashing records and entering top 20 times in history. This reminds me of when swimming switched to shark skin suits and suddenly records from decades back were getting obliterated. It's absolutely a blast, but I wouldn't be shocked if they found athletes were using some new substance or equipment.

You may have a point. Also training has changed a bit too with the advancements in technology. Some have said the earth is peaking. I don't if it's weather, atmosphere or something along those lines but this is definitely a new age or era.

Super spikes have come in which have made a 1/10th per 100m difference roughly i belive (not accurately tested). The super spikes are banned after Paris olympics so sif times drop back then we'll know for sure.

Are the records really being smashed? Or are the times just a little bit better

I call it the Covid break! So many athletes got to rest for the first time in years because of the mandated lock downs. They emerged from the lockdowns fresher and stronger than ever! You are witnessing the results!
