New Customer called in asking me to change the timing belt for a noise complaint but after a removing the drive belt we found the ac compressor seized and broken ...
Speaking to a friend ‪@Automotive_Solutions‬ the procedure to fill the system with PAG 46 oil was incorrect so please take this video as a noise complaint and removal of the ac compressor . I will be taking an AC course this month to get qualified and get Fgas registration better videos on AC in the future...cheers
I will be uploading videos here regularly sharing my experiences working around cars on my driveway, exposing issues, auto repair, auto electric, oil changes, services, projects and more...
Cheers 👍

Hi Igor as you likely know…Some compressor drive pulleys/clutches are designed to shear in the event of compressor seizure to maintain accessory drive. The seizure in all likelihood has resulted as a consequence of a loss of refrigerant. The circulation of which provides critical lubrication and compressor cooling. Via suction line cool refrigerant return. Don’t just replace the compressor…System cleanliness & tightness must be confirmed or your destined to repeat the failure. Clean, tight & dry or it’s gonna end in tears. Proper servicing with respect to pressure testing the system for tightness, vacuuming down to remove moisture and correct measure of refrigerant gas and oil quantity confirmation are equally important. Don’t ask how I know this 🤣 Cheers Pal. Great to see you taking an interest in AC 👍

Oh yeah man 😊 I came to realise how important is to carry the right procedure testing the system and how difficult it can be having an analog gauge watching your videos mate . Looking forward to get involved with AC system and complete the course and be able to offer that service to my customers , I bought a fieldpiece gauge like Ian’s , vacuum pump and hose , now I need a to get a recovery machine A2L safe probably at the end of the month when I finish the course 👍🍻

How's she goin'? It was a trick to give so such open access to the pump, since removing it was what looked like a terrible job. I don't know what's harder for you, removing the parts or setting the camera up to get good shots of the work being done!!! LOL Nice repair and too bad about not getting the oil in correctly. The AC course will sure be helpful down the road eh!!! Thanks for sharing and take care!!!

You right there Mike a bit tricky to get some good clips where the viewers can see what you are doing these engines are so compact they have just enough room for you to get one in to get the job done , looking forward to the course better videos in the future cheers mate 👍

I can hear that tensioner pulley... You should have replaced that too.

do you can guess that what stage of that pulley? if you can recognize the pulley 's "friction" noise is it full dead or capable for some more km or mile? i mean around 200-500 mile, not thousands or is that absolutely random? from 50 mile to 5000?

Nice work mate....the vac pump and gauges are cheap enough...what sucks is the r134a and the r1234yf are different so during this "transition" you end up having to buy both....ugh... hopefully the rest of the system in clean and no vac leaks for the customer...👍👍

Yeah man it sucks indeed I’ve started buying the tools needed to do both systems so far I bought a fieldpiece manifold , vacuum pump and hose, next will be a recovery machine A2L safe but most importantly will the course I don’t feel like I’ve got the knowledge to do a good job yet … cheers mate 👍👍🍻

Cambelt replacement interval on that engine is 50,000 miles or 5 years whichever comes first.

INA are good for bearings ect but hows the cambelt compare to Gates? also a gear extractor would help allot there , its well seized, this is why people need too use there AC now and again as it costs in the long run.

done similar on my brothers car. 2012 sharan 2.0 dsg Read instruction millions times, and didt get clear understanding with oil. Didt put any, just the guy who was doing refill did it via mashine. I bought same 2011 sharan 2.0,and timing belt interval in the book said 140k miles,no mention about age🤔 AC jobs probably the most come back ones, intresting to know why the system where empty, must be leaking somewhere.🤔

Seized compressor replacement needs a new condenser radiator and system must complettely clean by machine then insert the new compressor, else new compressor will seize after a few miles usage.and one more important thing i see there the aftermarket compressor has no magnetic contactor to relase rotor from belt turn that means it's working allways even ac is off that occours high fuel constumption and loss of hotsepower

Hi, this car dont have a magnetic clutch. Theres a electro-magnetic valce inside that handles the needed power. Its better than a magnetic clutch in my opinion. Cheers

One thing.. never remove protective caps from compressor until 2 seconds when you are ready to connect back pipes. As smallest debree can affect ac operation. PAG oil that you poured in will be recycled as soon as ac filling machine pulls the vacuum. On your place i will pay some other shop to vacuum and fill the ac system and then call the customer when car is ready.. customers don't need to know that you don't have the equipment for ac service.

@@CarsExposed the vacuum procedure doesn't remove oil. If it did then on every regas you would have to add the entire system oil capacity back in.
