Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer is just going to release on July 21st, and there are a ton of formats to enjoy it, but what if you do not have an IMAX 70mm theatre, or a IMAX GT Laser theatre. Does India have an IMAX 70mm Theatre? Get all the information in this video!

I’m so happy I only live 45 minutes away from the closest 70mm IMAX theater and I’m even happier I was able to secure a seat relatively in the middle of the theater on the night of the 20th. Nolan has been my absolute favorite director since The Dark Knight and I’m so freaking excited.

Interstellar in Hyderabad's Prasads 70MM IMAX was my greatest cinema viewing experience ever! It's so unfortunate it was shut down.

I go to Prasads all the time. Flash was a blast. But cinemascope is a disappointment But I wish too!

@@KDCloudy I missed Flash in Prasads large screen, thanks to Adipurush being played in PCX. I guess they played Flash only on release date. But yeah CinemaScope is not that great in PCX, they’re not utilising the entire screen.

This is the best guide to watch Oppenheimer on the internet. Educational, insightful and crisp editing all at the same time. Got my ticket to see it on IMAX 70mm in LA and I’m extra grateful after watching this. Didn’t realize there’s only 30+ IMAX theaters left. Amazing video! Definitely shows your love for the cinema

There’s more than 30 imax theaters just only 30 that still display 70mm imax film. Most of them are converted to digital whereas the 30 are still analog.

I was heartbroken when I found out that Adlabs IMAX In Wadala got closed down, it was by far the best theater I had ever been in and used to watch all my movies there. I'd love to see you make a video on how and why these theaters got closed down

Less profit, expensive projectors and screens which get used very less for only certain movies meant for imax, while they could sell the tickets for the similar price with lesser expensive equipments

It's a dead format, but a few filmmakers are still desperately trying to prop up its corpse and these ridiculously huge cameras make so much damned noise that people on set can barely hear one another. I'd love to see Nolan get over his fetish with 600lb rolls of plastic and focus on technologies that actually significantly impact the theatrical experience more than just resolution (which we can't even see) like HDR and Dolby Atmos. Properly shot and authored 3D is far more immersive than just making the screen bigger.

Was fortunate enough to watch the last show ever of interstellar at IMAX 70mm at Hyderabad before they closed that screen, timed my visit from Bangalore to Hyderabad to be there for it. and the experience was surreal, those 1.43 scenes where the projected image enlarged that experience was next to none. ever since i have watched dozens of movies at various imax screens in Bangalore but nothing like the 70mm experience.

Watching Oppenheimer as Nolan intended in 70mm IMAX. Couldn't have done this up until last year when I was still in India. One of the major pros of being in the west would be this for me. Absolutely exceptional options to watch cinema. So yeah, July is looking pretty crazy for me as I catch MI:DR Part 1 tomorrow in IMAX followed by Oppenheimer on opening day in 70mm IMAX, ending with a double feature of Barbie on the same day. Kudos to the great video guide of yours.

Had been searching online for these lists and formats and they were quite confusing. This made it all so simple and easy to digest. Thank you for the suggestions, the lists, the map and even for sharing your video equipment details! Please make that video on IMAX history in India, why they shut down and what these 'Science Cities' are - I noticed many of them had impressive screens, but mostly shut or converted now.

Just watched Oppenheimer in PVR Vegas mall in New Delhi. I chose to skip PVR select citywalk with imax laser because it's screen is much much smaller than the Vegas mall and I was quite sure that these laser projections at PVR select city won't even show the 4k resolution as in your case with avatar. all in all it was a super good decision. its been a 3 days and i am still in awe of the film and that huge theater!! Thanks, you helped me get to know about these theaters! PS: i got the middle most seat in the theater! someone cancelled there ticket and i got em!

You’ll have a better experience in Malad Lower Parel has a cropped screen so it might’ve appeared to you the entire film is imax Malad will show the aspect ratio switches better

@@KDCloudy man that is exactly what me and my friend were talking after the film. We didn't notice any aspect ratio switches like we thought. I prolly attributed it to the fact that I was sitting dead smack in the middle in row G and the sheer immersiveness of the screen and film yada yada, that I missed the ratio switches. So do you mean to say that due to the screen in Parel they enlarge the 2.20:1 scenes so that there are no black bars throughout? Because my friend was arguing with me in the interval that some scenes don't appear 4k and I told him stop nitpicking lmao

Just a small addition for the PLFs graph as there is a new EPIQ screen opening in Broadway Megaaplex in Coimbatore. It’s also in limbo, similar to the IMAX screen. Very well made video, btw!

70mm is a projection format. Everything is shot on 65mm film. Which is the same for regular 65mm and IMAX. The film is then printed to 70mm film. Definitely regular 70mm and 35mm would be the best way to see Oppenheimer in non 70mm IMAX. After that it’s dual laser IMAX with the 1.43:1 screen.

Nice breakdown. Here in MN we don’t have an IMAX 70mm location, so instead I found that we have 2 theaters here showing it in standard 70mm. Snagged my tickets for Sunday of the debut weekend. The Friday and Saturday were sold out.
