@@annother3350 ewww yucky but same thing kinda happened to me when I was a teenager and would be cleaning stuff out of the kitchen sink drain, my brain would vividly imagine what it might taste like. didn't matter if it was rotting veggies, meat, noodles, or some mysterious substance. I'm still haunted by the fact that I ever had those thoughts but at least they don't occur anymore.

I once bit into a piece of soap in the shape of a turd because I thought it was chocolate lol. the story gets even more stupid when you realize I ordered the turd-shaped soaps to give to my gf's daughter as a gag gift, and then when they were left around the house I picked one up and thought it was chocolate.

I googled it after I read your comment and apparently they're due to start human trials in a few months at most O_O I wouldn't mind trying something like it once it's a temporary thing like one of those headgear things you see in Sci-fi. Same here. My friends and family misconstrue my though process as being quick wit, but it's really just because my mind is wandering and jumping from one thing to the next while vaguely listening to the conversation at hand. A prime example of this was a few years back at a family get-together my aunt was on her 3rd piece of Rhubarb pie and talking about how they don't have Rhubarb in Texas, so she only gets it when she comes back to North Dakota, and how much she really likes Rhubarb pie. My mind wandered and went something like this: she's on her third piece, isn't that a lot of sugar? It must be a lot of sugar, because it's too sweet for me to eat. Isn't a high sugar intake a risk factor for Type 2 Diabetes? and at that moment she got all giddy, and said "You guys will never guess what I'm getting when we get back to Texas." To which my immediate response was, "Type 2 Diabetes?" Immediately took all the wind out of her sails, her husband started laughing hysterically, my parents were mortified, then started laughing as well, other family members wandered over to see what was so funny, and her husband tells them while gasping for breath, and they start laughing too, while my aunt is pouting saying it wasn't THAT funny.

Its both a blessing and a curse! In serious situation where you are expected to have a serious response yet you are in lala land then just play it of as usual to everyone's disapproval or horror! @@SammyNineFingers I can relate. I had an ADHD evaluation done on me, but I did not tick enough boxes to qualify for an ADHD diagnosis. I'm bipolar though, so on any given day my mind is going 1000mph on its default setting. My "problem" as well as my strength is that I can be part of a conversation and during it, I sometimes make associative leaps in my thoughts regarding the current topic and once I've jumped 2 or 3 steps onto some (in my head) vaguely related topic I'll end up shoe-horning it into the conversation. I say shoehorn, but I think the transition is kind of alright most of the time. Problem or not the consequence is that, and I'll engage in a rare example of complimenting myself here, a conversion with me is rarely boring at least. Well you know - unless I think of something to talk about that no one else present gives a shit about. Which happens sometimes :) Mentally at the moment, I have the problem that I'm aware that I tend to over-explain and use way too many words to get to the point, but at the same time I also want to be precise and clear in what I'm saying so sometimes I attempt to explain "how I got there". Which only makes me even more long-winded ^^ You know - Like this comment is getting long-winded. I'll just shut up now :)

@@Zabiru- No worries as you can see both replays here are long and winding. Bipolar and ADHD and other neuro-divergent have overlapping issues. As long as you get the right diagnosis the rest will be fine. And once you are aware you thought process is just different then it's easy to live with yourself knowing you not as crazy and adjust as needed. Easier said than done though lol
