NordicTrack’s 6.5 Si is one of our Best Buy Treadmills of 2019. This folding treadmill is a great buy and fits in most homes for convenience.
Some of our favorite features:
10” Smart HD Touchscreen
The 6.5 Si includes a 10” HD touchscreen. Crisp graphics and high resolution on the screen bring life to your run. Whether you are using the engaging iFit programs, or just running in manual mode, the screen is large, directly in your line of vision, and easy to navigate.
Touchscreen capabilities make it easy to select both your workouts and stats. You can adjust volume, incline and speed via the touchscreen.
Includes 30 Day NordicTrack iFit® membership
iFit is NordicTrack’s proprietary database of online classes and outdoor routes filmed all over the world. iFit requires WiFi so you will need internet access to run this program. The onboard programs do not require WiFi.
iFit features studio-based classes led by personal trainers who both engage and encourage you during your workout. As you run, the treadmill will automatically adjust incline and speed for you to match the direction of the trainer.
It also features outdoor routes filmed everywhere imaginable. These too are led by personal trainers who run just ahead of you, providing input and direction as you run.
10% Incline
The 6.5 Si will incline to a 10% grade, which is plenty steep for the average user. Working at an incline engages glutes and hamstrings for balanced leg conditioning. It also provides an added challenge for walkers looking for a hearty calorie burn.
300lb Weight capacity
The 300lb weight capacity is surprising for such a compact treadmill. The 6.5 is designed to be durable and sturdy. It will fit in your home and support most users.
One Touch® Controls
Flanking the screen on either side you find OneTouch controls for Speed (right) and Incline (left). Buttons are numbered 1-10 to match each speed or incline, and they provide a quick way to navigate directly from the console.
20 On-Board Workout Programs
For those not desiring iFit training, there are 20 onboard workouts on the treadmill. These include basic routines such as HIIT, Hill Climb, and Calorie Burn. You can also run any number of uploaded Google routes and the treadmill will adjust for you to match the actual terrain.
2.6 CHP DurX™ Commercial Plus Motor
2.6 CHP is “continuous horsepower” which means the motor can maintain and hold any preset speed. The motor is self-cooling so it won’t overheat and should accommodate the needs of most users. If you plan to do heavy training with long distances and multiple runs - or if you have multiple family members who plan to use the treadmill daily - you may want to look at a treadmill with a slightly more powerful motor. For average runners, walkers, and single users, the 6.5 Si is a great option.
20” x 55” Commercial Tread Belt
The tread belt on the 6.5 is commercial grade and you can feel the difference. Reduced vibration in the deck helps stabilize the belt so it doesn’t make that “slapping” sound while running.
The 4” side rails alongside the deck are textured and anti-slip. These are angled ever so slightly towards the deck so you don’t accidentally slip off the machine.
FlexSelect™ Cushioning
Four orange dampeners under the deck allow users to turn the cushioning feature on or off. To turn on, just twist the dampener until it reads: “Cushion.” To mimic outdoor surfaces, turn the dampener until it reads: “Off.” Cushioning helps protect joints from overuse and impact injuries and is one of the main benefits of indoor training.
Auxiliary Music Port and Digitally Amplified Speakers
You can plug in headphones via the music port or listen to iFit trainers through the console speakers. Sound is crisp and there are multiple volume settings.
SpaceSaver® Design with EasyLift™ Assist
The 6.5 S folds up simply and easily. Simply grab the bar at the base of the deck and lift -- EasyLift assist will help you fold up the machine. Since the footprint is compact, the 6.5 Si is only 73” tall when folded in a vertical position. This makes it so you can keep your treadmill in a common room or even a bedroom and it won’t take up space when not in use. To release, press your foot against the foot bar under the deck and a hydraulic release system lowers it slowly back to the floor.

Thank you so much for the review! This review influenced my decision to buy the Si. As for the bluetooth, I guess they upgraded it. I can connect my heart rate monitor (Polar H10) as well as an external speaker (JBL Flip 4) to it with no issues. For the record, I just bought my Si on 12/22/21. The only thing that I do not like is that you have to go into a workout to access bluetooth settings as opposed to getting everything setup beforehand. Not a deal breaker by any means. You have a few minutes of warmup time before the workout to get everything situated. One other small catch is it does not seem to remember your devices. You have to go in each time to connect your bluetooth accessories. Im getting used to it but it could easily be eliminated via a software upgrade which Im sure will come in the future. Thanks again!

That's a lot of use -- we'd probably recommend looking at an incline trainer. Either the NordicTrack x22i or x32i are good options. Also, Sole treadmills are well built and have a lifetime warranty -- but they don't have a touchscreen with subscription video workouts, so it kind of depends on what you are looking for.

Hi, 3 quick questions: 1. How does it compare to the new Elite 900 model Costco is selling, that has 12% incline and 12mph, but smaller 7" screen? 2. Also does it have the option to cast the iFit to your TV, or send the image via Apple Air play? 3. Does it have any bluetooth capability so that in the future I can connect it to my Apple TV and possibly use Apple fitness +?

Great review, thank you! I plan to average out at ~40 miles per week of running on this treadmill at a pace of 6-7 mph. Only other person using would be my wife she would mostly walk and little bit of run. I know that 1750 is better but comes at almost double the price and is out of my budget. Do you think I can go with this one or should I drop the idea and continue with my road running as I have been doing all these years? I don't want to get a machine and see it die within a few months. I am so confused.

@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 3 жыл бұрын
Runners who plan to run faster than 6mph for longer than an hour should consider a treadmill that has at least a 3.0HP motor. Walking or jogging at slower speeds will be fine. The 6.5si is a good walking treadmill, but we don't recommend it for long-distance or high-speed running bc it doesn't have as much cushioning in the deck and features a smaller 2.6HP motor.

I found these reviews very well made and organized. A question I could not find an answer to anywhere I searched so for is: "How loud is this model when compared to the commercial 1750, when you run on it say at 6 to 8 MPH?" Also, I've found a lot of contrasting arguments on whether you can or cannot connect Bluetooth headphones on this device. Can you please clarify?
@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 2 жыл бұрын
This is roughly comparable to the 1750 for noise. Most of the noise output on any treadmill is related directly to the weight and gait of the runner. The motor and belt are very quiet. Per your Bluetooth question: older models (pre 2019) were not equipped with Bluetooth. I believe the newer models are ... but Nordictrack no longer sells the 6.5Si on their website, so it must be purchased through a 3rd party retailer. I'd recommend you verify the model and Bluetooth capability with the specific retailer to confirm.

@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 3 жыл бұрын
No you don't have to have an iFit account for this treadmill to work but it does come free for a year when your purchase, if it is something you or someone else would like to use. The treadmill still works without an iFit subscription, everything on the touchscreen just runs through iFit so you'll be prompted to login to iFit, etc. In manual mode you'll get to see all of those display metrics, speed, minute/mile, estimated calories burn, or if you use a heart rate monitor you'll see actual calories burned, heart rate, etc. If you have any questions about that just let us know. You are only give about 5 metrics at the top of the screen, but if you tap on those metrics they toggle between other metrics, if that makes sense.

@@joshdyment Hey! yea so I've been running on it daily for 30-45 mins with no problem. I do a lot of interval programs. I do incline as well. I like this treadmill a lot. It turned out to be perfect for me and my small space but its not right for everyone. Here's why i say that: Its not as powerful as some of the commercial style treadmills, I can see a heavier person having some issues with it. It doesn't have the giant screen, however, the screen is about the size of a normal iPad which is fine by me. It only inclines to a 10. Most of the commercial ones incline a lot more then that and have decline. I only know this because i follow the built in iFit program, this month is a studio challenge, the trainer is on a commercial treadmill from Nordic Track and she has inclined the class to 20 or something. My stopped at 10. So if incline is very important and you want the highest possible, this isn't the one for you. I personally didn't need that super high incline or decline at all. It was easy enough to set up. There is a official iFit FB group where people talk about their equipment and get recommendations as well. Check it out.

The 6.5Si is best for walking or light jogging which we define as less that 3 miles per day at under an 8mph pace. If you plan to run more than this, we recommend an upgrade to the Nordictrack 8.5 S, it has a 3.5 horsepower motor while the 6.5 Si only has a 2.6 horsepower motor. The 8.5 treadmill has significantly more power so it won't overheat on long runs or at higher speeds.

You can run on it, but the 6.5Si only has a 2.6 HP motor. For extensive running, we recommend a machine that has a 3.0HP motor or larger. If you are the only one using the machine, it shouldn't overheat -- although you do run some impressive miles at a quick pace. Our recommendation would probably be to upgrade to the 1750 if you can afford it. The 1750 is better than both the 8.5 or 9.5 treadmills -- it has a bigger motor, more cushioning, just a slightly smaller screen. We don't want to discourage you from the 6.5Si -- it is a great treadmill in many ways. But you may find the motor has a hard time keeping up with you.

Thank you for a review. Does it work without iFit?
@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the 6.5 Si will work without iFit -- you just don't get as many video workouts. But you do need an internet connection even if you don't use iFit -- to upload your user data and provide free workouts of the day, the 6.5Si requires internet.

Great for jogging, but it goes up to 10 MPH? ..Bottom line what happens when I do a slower run?
@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 3 жыл бұрын
10mph is the fastest speed, but that's not the pace in the classes. Usually the videos will use a brisk walking pace around 3mph and for running it's usually between 6-7mph. You can adjust the speed at any time to your desired pace. The class doesn't go any faster or slower depending on your speed, so if you are watching a 30minute class it will end in 30min regardless of how fast you run.

@@michaelpennington5111 The new Peloton Tread links with ANT devices. Also treadmills by Star Trac, Nautilus, and Woodway should link with ANT+ as well.

I just purchased the treadmill for the go walk with google maps feature and it’s not even working. I personally hate all the ifit subscription. I just want to work out without all the paid trainers. Im really disappointed

Is this machine good for jogging?

Thank you for your reply. Also, if 4 people want to jog everyday, let's say 4 kms each one, will this machine good enough for the family? And, when you say 10 mph refers to the speed limit, but is not referring to the quality of the machine, right? One last question, please, what is considered running when using this treadmill?

@@MsFrancoesmeralda For longevity with that amount of use and multiple people regularly using the treadmill, I would check out the NordicTrack 1750 or 2450 instead. I don't think this model will hold up well over a long period of time with that level of use. Yes, 10 mph is the maximum speed. Your last question is hard to answer because it really depends on the person. People of different heights, fitness levels, and stride lengths tend to have different speeds that they use on a treadmill for running. For instance, some users might find 6 mph to be a faster running pace, while others might keep a jogging pace at that same speed.

This is a sorry treadmill no way to connect a chest strap for HR. I had a 20+ year old proform that could use a chest strap. Buy a different brand or model. The tablet could of had Bluetooth at almost no cost to NordicTrack and then it would have been easy to connect a HR monitor.

The 6.5 Si is one of the few Nordictrack treadmills that isn't Bluetooth compatible with a chest strap. Most of the higher models do have this functionality.

NOTE: This product works exactly as described. kzfaq.infoUgkxguEIMc_Qwab-3QMTpF6jaRL80hiOOsIN It originally earned a four-star review due to a minor defect (see below). However, the manufacturer's customer service rep (Lita) went above and beyond the call of duty and deserves five stars now. I wish I could give even more!I purchased this item which arrived quickly. Assembly instructions were easy to follow. There was only one problem: One bolt did not screw into the hole properly. I called the company. Their customer service rep (Lita) was terrific! She took all my information and submitted a request to replace the defective part. I'm hoping to finish assembly and start using this treadmill soon. (Fingers crossed...)FOLLOW UP: Lita called back to inform me that the company will send a replacement part AND a technician(canyoutalk)  to install it properly. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Thank you!!
