Norfolk Broads Experience - May 2023 - Day 4

We start off our day with a cracking breakfast at Ranworth and soak up the beautiful weather. We then have a relaxing cruise towards Potter Heigham before cruising up the River Thurne towards our destination for the evening at the beautiful Thurne Mill. So come join us!

We passed you last Saturday somewhere near Runham on our way down to Great Yarmouth to catch the slack tide, as we only need 8’. You had obviously come through at low tide. We are on Moonlight Shadow this week.

Ahh! Yes we did come across Breydon at low tide on Saturday to get a head start. I hope we gave you a wave as you passed? Next time, do give us a shout if we pass again! You guy's should check out South Walsham Broad at some point it's lovely. Just don't do what we did and use drop weight, we awoke in the morning to find we had drifted with the wind and tide right across the board 😮😂

Hi Robert, many thanks for your comment and also, thanks for your suggestion! We actually took you up on your recommendation and visited South Walsham on our July Broads visit (we've not long returned). We had a relaxing cruise around the Broad, which was beautiful, and we can see why it's such a great spot to mud-weight. We ended up mooring at Fleet Dyke, which was also a great little spot. @@twomenandaboat8681 I'm glad you managed to check it out, a lovely spot for sure. Myself and my partner Martin have since moved to Norfolk and so the broads are almost in our back garden. We feel very lucky to have found such a lovely place to call home. We hope to get back out on the broads again before too long, there is something magical about time spent on them. I cannot believe how quiet it is, there's moorings everywhere. we go in August and it's packed, going again this year can't wait. 🛥️

Hi Gordy! Many thanks for your comment. You're right, it was very quiet on our May trip, we also have never seen it like that before. We have just returned from a July visit to The Boards, where the Northern Broads seemed to be back to its usual self! We certainly could not believe how quiet Thurne Mill was, as that's normally a really popular spot. We hope you have a very enjoyable visit to The Broads this August - do let us know how you found it! Take care
