Right? You can't even find a single female comedian without men 1) humbling her and the everlasting "Not funny, where's the joke" OR 2) talking a gddmn comedy skit seriously and sensitively. Which proves men can't take a joke when it's directed at them 🤷

I have a hypothesis about why Instagram comments are so terrible: So like I’ll get recommended a gay couple and the comments are all just horrific homophobia right. I think the algorithm prioritizes showing you content you comment on more than content you “like”. So since people comment usually only when commenting hate, gay couples are shown to homophobes, trans people are shown to transphobes, etc. transphobes always comment ( even though the comment is hate) on trans content, so the algorithm on instagram shows them that thinking thats what they want to see. Tik tok strongly prioritizes "likes", so you see content you like.

your hypothesis is 100% correct, if you’re interested in the research look up the (free access) paper “Angry by design: toxic communication and technical architectures” by Luke Munn. facebook and youtube make lots of money by encouraging hate speech via their algorithm design, and it’s basically an open secret?? absolutely horrifying
@maloryj71657 ай бұрын
You'd have to look into it for exact info but it came out several years ago that Facebook prioritizes showing users content that makes them angry because that gets the most engagement. The goal of any social media is to keep you on the app as long as possible.

Yeah I don’t make comments on there bc the one time I made one it was awful. It was a body builder kid who in the previous reel had talked abt struggling w an ED, he wasn’t sure if he was physically healthy anymore, and had body dysmorphia. He looked barely 13, and posted that and other body checks. I told him to keep his head up, that continuing to post body builder content isn’t good for him, and recommended seeing professionals for his health. The amount of gym bros that were pressed was INSANE. Comments shaming ME, saying I’m crazy or blind, one called me a pedo for being on the kids page when I was literally a minor too (and they weren’t). Many just kept talking abt how the kid is ripped, looked amazing, and encouraged ED behavior. They were recommending supplements for performance enhancement. Like this CHILD made a call for help, and grown men sat there and encouraged ED behavior in a 13 yr old.

For real, one time in a feminist video I said that something about women being able to choose to have kids or not (which is normal hello?) and a man or boy or idk said he was gonna r@p3 me. And that’s the new normality on Instagram…

Im so happy someones talking about this, bc instagram is not moderating shit. my friend went on instagram reels just for 2 minutes and there where people posting literal p0rn and just overall disgusting things on there. its pretty weird, and i have seen even gore on there, with tags that are kidfriendly.

I actually know about the guy from the last reel! He does alot of commission work as a voice actor in small animation projects, both NSFW and regular. As far as im aware, that reel is probably from or is used to promote his only fans. While a little cringe, it is meant for a specific audience.

As a professional Instagram commenter, you can post anything on reels and you will see the most insane things known to man. I comment crazy things, sure, but nothing that's homophobic, racist, or misogynic. You can be spontaneously funny without any of those things. Though, for the fifth time this year, I am banned from commenting for a month.
@rolypoly14047 ай бұрын
They'll ban you from commenting for saying the dumbest things too. I had that happen because I made a "your mom" joke meanwhile people are getting away with commenting things far worse than something that's obviously not that serious
@Snapdragonangel7 ай бұрын
I love how they ban people for the simple harmless stuff but when there is actual hate speech in the comments they don’t care. Prob bc the hate gets the videos attention and keeps users in the app longer arguing.

From 3:13 on its basically how instagram algorithm seems to operate. I once liked a german meme and next time I refreshed my whole page was german. LITERALLY ALL OF IT. It also happened before with a videogame I've never played, a laguage I couldnt even understand, random photos of random buildings and people in suits of medieval armor with medieval weapons. To be fair, I was not mad about the last one.
