"Content Creation" is easier than ever but how does that affect us and how can we capture the best stuff?

I always resonate with your videos, and this topic is salient in the modern era. The notion of 'content' has always bothered me, since the channels I grew up watching featured 'Programs' with presenters, talents and phenomena, and I've struggled with what I could produce on 'my channel'. Your channel and programs have always felt so real, so genuine, and I've honestly been inspired by it and your continued efforts, so much so that I am encouraged to make my own programs. Thank you, my friend. I believe in you.

I'm glad that one video popped off for you because discovering you helped get me to try KZfaq. Before that I had so much anxiety about putting myself out there because so many of my friends had basically put me down that some of my confidence had been destroyed. It was already destroyed from teachers in grade school, high school and college. But Twitch and KZfaq has greatly improved my confidence. So I really appreciate your content because it really has made my life more enjoyable not just because of these discussions but also because it has allowed me to find my voice again after basically three decades of having it knocked out of me.

The pressure about making content is real. We are more focused in creating content for the machine rather than making a content for ourselves that's why burnout is inevitable for most people. Thanks for this video I really appreciate it.

I really appreciated this video :) At one time, I had an exciting little YT channel. It was centered around one of my favorite MOBAs at the time, and my initial intent with it was to make new friends to play with. Yet, as time passed and my viewers wanted more, I noticed that the videos I was producing became more for my audience; and not so much for myself. Once I had a formula for my style and what people liked, I began scrutinizing my own edits and in general just became very anxious about releasing the next video. Where putting out a video had originally given me a great burst of energy, simply putting together a video began to feel like an insurmountable wall. I quit shortly after and went to casual streaming, as I didn't feel the same sort of pressure there. I've come to realize that the content I appreciate the most online is from those who kick worries of quality and trends to the curb, and simply turn on a camera and express themselves. It's an inspiration to me. These coffee videos are a sincere treat! This video's topic in particular gives me the urge to just start making stuff for myself again. Thanks ❤

Coffee time! Been a while since I watched your channel, love the new setup! I haven't got into making short form content at all, I do like scrolling through them occasionally, but for some reason it feels like more effort than making a long form video for me... In terms of creativity and avoiding burnout, I watch a lot of podcasts on creativity and KZfaq, something stuck with me from an interview with DR K on Jay Clouse's channel, basically he said that any iteration of a successful video will never out perform the original. Think about how you got to that viral video in the first place? What was my process to making the standout video? Set yourself up for success - tap into that version of yourself. Thinking like that has made me excited for the future of the channel and made me feel free to experiment a lot more, knowing that the best will happen if you follow your passion and interest at the time rather than continue to do what worked in the past. I wish KZfaq encouraged creative content more, but when you think about it from a broader perspective, people in general don't really prefer creative content and rather consume something they already know they'll like, / or something that is easy to digest, so I understand why KZfaq prioritises that. It's a challenge to approach content creation with that idea in mind while also trying to be creative for your own sanity! As for your last question, I wish I was more in control! I have so many projects I want to make but like you were saying about being rewarded for constantly making things, I feel like I have to keep making videos to feed what I've been building and it's hard to change from that. I have some big ideas and hope I'll get into them one day! It's a lot better than I used to be though, I've been turning down a lot of requests for reviews and sponsored stuff in order to focus on my own projects more, so i'm heading in the right direction at least! Sorry for the long comment! 😅

Always nice to see u in the comments. Love me a good long comment! About YT, I agree that their focus on engagement is understandable. The important thing then becomes, well, does this/that platform really provide the correct environment for what I want to create? Lots of short form content is consumed by by viewers who can’t recall who even made it (myself included).

Amazing video. Over and over on my feed has been videos about how it's completely unsustainable for creators to burn themselves out feeding an algorithmic machine that literally benefits platforms at the expense of both artists and audience. I've increasingly been thinking about how we need a return to the earlier models of the internet like you mention: a closer connection between making things and watching them. More traditional discovery models like personal recommendations like "my friend said this was good" or "a creator I enjoy also enjoys this other thing."

I’m fairly confident it’ll trend back in that direction and even if not on YT, platforms where such content is nurtured will flourish!

I enjoyed your perspective! I've never identified with the term 'content creator' and you've highlighted some of the reason why. I love writing, but writing isn't easy. It's something I've spent years getting better at. It just doesn't feel right lumping it in with other kinds of content - whether that's interviewers, filmographers, animators, etc. We all do different good work. 'Content' as an umbrella term doesn't feel right to represent that.

I have recently gotten back into making videos, and whilst they aren't the best imho. I've just been doing what comes to mind with what footage i get. Creativity is a hard task to be spontaneous with, but any form of creativity should suffice to most. Others would seek specific forms. Like drawing, music composition, etc. Seeing you return to your coffee making videos re-invigorated my interest with coffee and creation. The buzz word; "Content Creator" just seems cliché and fake to me. It feels unnatural to consider ourselves 'content creators' when the term just feels so malleable and synthetic nowadays. Just do what you enjoy, and do it because you enjoy it.

I’ve tried creating shorts, new stuff and I still failed to the point I gave up on my channel altogether. Unless you’re playing the popular games, no one cares.
Time. Why you feel like you never have enough of it.
