turn as soon as you see the ball coming, make sure you turn A LOT so that your shoulders have rotated a bit more than your hips. Get the racquet back all the way with your right arm straight. Make sure to keep your grip very loose and arms relaxed. Step into the ball and really use your legs and hips (think like a batter would do to generate power). Extend fully. Do this every day for a few hundred times a day. Stand in the mirror for a couple hours every day doing this. Then you could probably have a backhand that looks pretty damn close to it.

chris couple more things ..use your left hand much more than your right throughout the stroke (70/30). Make sure you really get the racquet head under the ball. Swing like you would swing a left handed forehand. Practice hitting the ball with your left hand. Make contact with the racquet close to vertical and slightly out in front of your right foot. Finally bring the left leg around a bit after contact. Power from strokes is the result of technique and using the force created from your body pushing off the ground. It's like throwing a discus. That's the energy transfer , up and rotate into it. Technically you have create the racquet head speed which will come from how fast you can drive the butt cap of the racquet towards the ball before impact. Watch some video's of the pros from the 'back perspective' and pause the screen right before impact and you'll see their racquet head pointing towards the back fence, and this is happening very close to impact. At the last second the racquet head comes around into contact. It's physics

+chris The key is turning the hip BEFORE the shoulder when hitting. This creates lag and effortlessly stroke.

Its easy cause the tennis ball is being placed under his chin everytime , the really really hard part about tennis is when you have to chase the ball down . Against Rafa the ball will be placed as far away from you as the court allows, then try hitting it running at full speed to your left or right forward and backward.
@mother7007
@mother7007 10 жыл бұрын
Yes i know this is just a pre match warm up, and its the correct way to prepare, Novak is concentrating on timing placement and rhythm and feel and basically just to warm up his body and his technique.

Novak is probably the GOAT. It's a shame, as Fed is more fun to watch and the more "skilled" tennis player, but in the end you've gotta be mentally tough to win championships against players of equal strength, and Fed simply isn't. Imagine if Novak had gotten to play without the other two best tennis players of all time in his era... oh boy. Still, unless he gets hurt he'll pass Fed before it's all said and done. As a Fed fan since I was 12, it's hard to admit... But please Novak learn to volley and come forward like Rafa did. Then you'll really be unbeatable (and you'll get the adoration that Fed has that you crave so much!!)

I dont get it.... his racket's head speed is not even going that fast and yet the ball comes off the racket at 100mph (i know i know it's not 100). What more is there ? I know there's angle and putting your weight behind it but that still doesnt explain the difference between him and your good tennis player !
@infinitepossibilities337
@infinitepossibilities337 7 жыл бұрын
The difference is racquet swingweight. Djokovic uses a racquet customized to a swingweight of around 370. Most other top singles professionals play with similar 350+ swingweights. Your average '"good recreational tennis player" uses a swingweight of 325-335 if they are using a racquet right off the shelf with no customization. Simple physics of way more potential energy coming through the ball. Its more power with less effort, assuming you have the technique to use a high swingweight effectively ;)
@DRAGON-qv4zx
@DRAGON-qv4zx 7 жыл бұрын
High swingweight + the right techniquet (more straight swinghpath) to be able to use such a heavy racket :)
@YuzukiEba
@YuzukiEba 7 жыл бұрын
Infinite Possibilities I see, thank for the explanation. Maybe i'll just get myself a nicely heavier racket then !

if you want to play with a havier racket with a high swingweight first you should check out The modern forehand explained by Rick Macci ,there is a video on youtube that is the way to hit a forehand with a havy racket

He doesn't. At the court level view, you can see apparently the balls bounced back really highly on his serves. That kind of serves is more effectively for his next groundstrokes.
