Always moving, always balanced, keeping his center of gravity along his spine, neck, head while his hips and shoulders rotate and create momentum. The technique ... impeccable. His strokes always consistently the same. No wonder he is the GOAT!

This is THE best Federer practice video (along with the 2 double perspective vids you put up last year ) that exist on KZfaq. Thanks

It is awesome indeed. I still think the famous "Cincy Practice" video is the best. That is the one I always go to when I need a little extra motivation to practice

His head stay very steady throughout all the shots, which makes everyone of his shots so consistent. I really need to get consistent like him.

I notice on volleys before federer goes to contact he gets the racket in an upright position (racket head above grip) then goes forward to make contact in front. Does this help get the racket in the proper angle for contact?

Roger hardly seems to be breathing in and out for each stroke. Whereas Any Roddick is usually seen breathing in and out clearly during each stroke.

I’ve long thought this too. I saw him in person at Indian Wells. Never thought I would go to such trouble to watch a pro practice. The experience was surreal, Cecchinato just shaking his head at some of Roger’s shots.

Is that true that he is hitting with double-bend arm now ?
@m3toz4
@m3toz4 8 жыл бұрын
+Andy Le He does it sometimes nowadays as his foot speed not fast enough, but he still like to do straight arm FH where he can rip it. As mortals like us, it is better to be flexible to do it all depend on the situations.
@mgxzazfbyjuchrisclarkvpz236
@mgxzazfbyjuchrisclarkvpz236 8 жыл бұрын
+Hung Phan his arm closer to straight on most forehands and his foot speed is still fast enough to hit that type of forehand. Yes he's lost a step but you gotta realize he's still an incredible mover
@anhboa2
@anhboa2 8 жыл бұрын
+Hung Phan as you used to hit with straight fore-arm i feel that it is almost impossible to mix with bent-arm, the contact point and extension is clearly very different. I thought he was doing bent-arm but with slow motion replay, it seems he just hitting a bit more relax.
@m3toz4
@m3toz4 8 жыл бұрын
+Andy Le his arm is bend sometimes, but it is not standard double bend FH like Djokovic. It is just physic that you have to bend your elbow if the ball is about chest level and you stand at the same position like the ball at your knee. If you hit with straight arm all the time you have to adjust your body position to different ball height. Pay attention that when he hit with bend arm he can't rip the ball.
@m3toz4
@m3toz4 8 жыл бұрын
+mg xzazfby j*u Chris Clarkv pz Agreed, but he still sometimes got jammed and has to bend arm to compensate.

Federer FH has more flexibility, but less leverage comparing to Djokovic FH.
@mgxzazfbyjuchrisclarkvpz236
@mgxzazfbyjuchrisclarkvpz236 8 жыл бұрын
leverage comes from extension and technique and roger typically gets more extension than djok who has a more bent arm and contact point not as far in front as roger. So he has more leverage although I will admit he's lost penetration compared to djok in a typical baseline rally but that has to do with djok being faster and stronger at this stage of his career. Its not due to leverage but being in a stronger hitting position, on average, than roger on a given rally between the two
