Shopping was our family trip when we grew up. My husband and I have 6 children, all but 1 are adopted. We live to share regional foods here in South Carolina, such as peaches. We only have 2 left at home, 2 in college, and 2 that have graduated college and married. I so enjoy your videos. It is a time for me to to reminisce about days gone by. We found also that food is a great common comfort for the kids as they transitioned into our home

I start with Fresh produce then meats. Then the isles. When we were very small we got to have a box of Animal Crackers all our own. Usually my Mum would take the Baby ( we had seven) the oldest would watch over. There was always a Neighbor that knew She was going . We didn't have a car so She would pick two kids to meet Her and push the Carts Home for Her 😘. JO JO IN VT 💕😄

I went with my parents. I was not allowed to touch anything. All I wanted in this world was a pair of Cinderella slippers. Clear plastic filled with glitter, high heels, 2 elastics topped with daisies to hold them on. I never managed to get them.. I guess times were hard. Montréal late 50's.

Peter addressed this once. Right now, it's not open because of private issues - laws, etc. So Kai has to be available for adoption before it can take place and it looks like maybe that is not possible now. But Peter said YEAH, he would love to do that if he had the opportunity.

My daughter lived in an orphanage before we found each other. Food insecurity and hunger is a very real and very, very traumatizing thing for kids. You handle it so well. We let my daughter have a biscuit in her hand all day if she wanted it (age2) and once she learned to communicate we gave her a drawer she could reach with snacks always filled. The fear lasted for years...

Love how kai and anthony act like older brothers to each other and the little ones. But when with their dad they turned babies. Kai with his stuff doll and anthony and his drumsticks are my fav moments. All 4 are lovely. We need more kai n anthony and the little ones interaction, they are so adorable. Btw sunnyD is just as sugary🤣

A tip for shopping with teens and children who are at the age of understanding money is to discuss spending ahead of time: Set and keep to a limit of how much you’re willing to spend on items. This helps keep shopping with kids/teenagers, who aren’t finished growing, from overspending on the basics.

I understand how the kids feel about worrying about what will they eat. My childhood was like that, and my mom's worry and anxiety transferred to me. I still worry about food. I sometimes feel like I have to ration it because I'm not always sure if we will make it until next pay day. Thank you Peter for always making your kids comfortable. You're a great guy.

I didn't realize that I had an issue with food until I got together with my boyfriend and I'd get unnecessarily upset whenever he would take food off my plate without asking. I know my mom would sometimes not let me eat because she didn't want me to get fat, but I didn't realize that it was something that still affected me as an adult

I find myself 'stocking up' food when I have a bit extra just to ensure I will always have something in the house to eat. Dad always made sure we had enough to keep us healthy, but as a young adult on my own I went without food one too many times and now I'm unnecessarily paranoid.

I take my kids with me to Costco as well every 2 weeks. If they want something new, I have them look at the sodium and sugar content per serving size as well as the price of the item. This helps them also make healthy choices. Peter, you are doing a great job as a foster parent and have so much patience.

Hi Peter, as a Foster Parent of 43 years I have a little tip for you concerning milk. Whole milk is best for children and teens, you may be thinking why and isn’t that too much fat? Well the more you lower the fat content the higher the natural sugar rises and effects the optic nerve. The worst is skim milk, the fat actually protects the optic nerve. You can look this up if you want. I love your kind heart and attitude with the kids, keep it up and God bless you!

I am sorry to hear you experienced so much food insecurity in your childhood, I can imagine it has a lasting effect on your relationship with food. Your boys don’t eat like hogs, they eat like teen boys 🙂 For them to reach their full potential physically and mentally they need a lot of fuel. You are investing in those bodies and they are very blessed by you. Good job dad. I love to shop with the family at Costco, great times. But one trick that you might consider is getting the meal (or a snack) when you first get there and then shopping. It will cut down on their desire to buy as many things when they aren’t so hungry and might make the experience more fun for you 😁

I am one if eight kids. When my mom went shopping, she had to take allow us with her. The older ones pushed the carts and put the food in. We always stopped and got something to eat. Shopping is hard work especially with a bunch of kids. My mom didn't have a baby sitter either. Kudos, Peter. You're doing an awesome job 👏🏾

I remember years ago I took in four foster children. The first morning I was making pancakes and they all asked why I was using eggs,milk butter,etc. I said this is how you make them. They said no only flour and water is how our mom made them. Broke my heart.😪😪❤🙏🙌

Grocery shopping is very therapeutic for me. I love going after a hard day at work. I am in ICU nurse. And that is the way I’d love to D stress. Unfortunately I’m like Peters kids I start grabbing a lot of junk food. Then like Peter, I have a moment of sanity and put some of the stuff back.

Peter, 😵🤪 how you keep an organized brain with them in Costco is beyond me! 😲 Bravo! I had only one child, so there was much less "can I have?" and arguing. But, I have two grandchildren and when they were little they wore me out in stores. Grabbing and begging for things. Sometimes there was non-stop arguing between them, and I found that really difficult! I wasn't used to so much public commotion. Once, I just left the cart and walked out of the store with them. They were so shocked - it helped!

Peter does a wonderful, loving job as a single parent❤️💞 Can anyone or Peter tell me if these are the same small children Peter took back home. It was like a three hour drive. Peter had said if they ever needed to come back they could. I think I remember Peter having a little girl named Sky before? Peter, Anthony is a good young man. Kai is really fitting in nicely. I think Kai thinks very highly of Peter😊 Please stay safe❤️

Anthony's curls looking good after the cut! Teens are so nice to the littles. Can't shop the perimeter of Costco like a grocery store to avoid all the temptations...sigh. I watch Now I Am Known and Holden It Down is single Foster mum who adopted her 2 children. It would be good to see them visit each other (Now I Am Known and Holden It Down) they got a big heart and full of love and fun.
