Yes, this is a good product. I have one and although I have a gas stove, I prefer this PIC 2 for many things. I made garlic shrimp, fried some chicken, boiled water for pasta. It is faster than my gas stove. I am very happy with this product.

Larry is right. Other brands like Max Burton or Nesco have much higher ratings and less 1 star reviews on Amazon

I have the NuWave Pic2, and for some purposes it is invaluable. I make my own beef and chicken broth from pasture fed bones. Both need to be simmered for a number of hours at much less than a boil. On my gas stove at the lowest heat, my broth still boils. On the NuWave Pic2, I can use a 22 quart stainless steel stock pot, and can maintain a simmer for 72 hours for beef broth on 200 degrees. I also feel much safer leaving the cooktop on for this time than I would leaving a pot on my stove for so long. I really like the temperature control that I can't do on my stove. I can also use the Pic2 for slow cooker recipes using pots that I have. I also have slow cookers, but the temperature on the Pic2 is much more controllable.

If you read reviews, Amazon is a good place to start, the biggest complaint is the temperature control doesn't work or the unit doesn't work. Examples are set to 225 deg then when checked the pan was at 500 deg. One person received a letter saying that they are not made to use in the place of a stove, they are to be used to keep stuff warm or cook small amounts of stuff. Amazon ratings just for this product was 87 5 star (many of which had comments that after using awhile, they now give it 0-1 star) and 59 1 star ratings that would be 0 if you had that option. I also considered buying this product until I checked for reviews, never buy until you check reviews from more than one place. Below is the url for the BBB report for NuWave/Hearthware, the bottom of the page shows that this is NuWave. Not only do they have an F rating and they have 1289 closed complaints and 47 that have never been resolved, that is just those who have complained to them. Many are because the product doesn't work, exorbitant shipping costs on items that are free, with supposed standard shipping, which most thought would be at cost, other is never receiving product. This is for all of their products, not just this one. Their tabletop oven, the plastic cracks after a couple of months and have to be replaced and are not free, they charge $49 each time. BBB contacted them about their misleading advertising and after the first discussion, ignored all further contacted. Then there is the addition at the bottom about the 254 complaints they have had just since Jan 3, 2013. www.bbb.org/chicago/business-reviews/cooking-utensils/hearthware-in-libertyville-il-33004359

When frying, use a Splatter Guard --> less cleaning. Have you tested how long to hard boil an egg?
@madthumbs1564
@madthumbs1564 10 жыл бұрын
Splatter guards aren't used for videos, kinda like cut resistant gloves, gloves, cut guards on mandolins, etc. Hard boiling eggs is old school now as it's inferior. They're now called hard cooked eggs for that reason. Best method is steaming, but bringing to a simmer then cover and remove heat is good also. There are some that will cook them in the oven (Alton Brown's demonstration of this method is flawed though).

I am needing to find a cook top burner that will be my only source for cooking other than a toaster oven and some other counter top appliances. We sold our mobile home and will be living in our "garage" for at least 2-3 years to save money. I need a way to cook. I bought one brand that had good reviews from what I saw and it doesn't keep a pot of water boiling, only if I have the lid on it. Will the Nuwave KEEP a LARGE pot of water boiling? I couldn't even cook pasta on the one I have, we had to hook up our camp stove. Also, does it maintain a CONSTANT temperature? Or does it cut off and on to maintain temperature. The one I have cuts off and on such that it's difficult to cook some things.

Have you checked the accuracy of the temperature?
@randylouisxiv2481
@randylouisxiv2481 8 жыл бұрын
i have seen reviews that say they are not that accurate, I have not checked my, but I do feel they are very near the temp. But reflect on people with conventional gas and electric stoves, they look at the flame to see if it is about right or set it at high, med or low. I feel this is far superior to the conventional stove, but like many people say with the ovens, "my oven is a little hot or cold and after using it for a while they learn how to use their oven. A friend of mine who has one had a hard time adjusting to setting at an actual temperature after using a gas stove all her life, but now she thinks it is the only way to cook. You have to use it to appreciate what a great concept it is.

Yes it will. If a magnet will stick to the pan it will work. I hear the some very high quality stainless steel pans will not. Take a magnet with you when looking for pans. I have found that TJMax has some really high quality pans that will work and many of the newer pans have have the induction logo on the bottom of the pan. Aluminium WILL NOT work.
