This is my stove...or two of these. I am not fond of my big stove and rarely use it. The PIC 2 works great and can go anywhere. I love this induction cooktop.

Just so you know, I found a silver-covered 12' plate at a local thrift store after I brought a small magnet with me to test. It grabbed the magnet very well, and the amount of magnetic material in a given plate will determine its ability to allow you to use anything on the cooktop, including Pyrex, etc. effectively. This was a fantastic demo/review! I immediately noticed your bamboo stove-top covers and went to Amazon and bought a couple for my stove-top. P.S. - Same thrift store I found this NewWave2 for $25! - I tossed the old burner element out of my stove top and this fit right into the hole!

I turned my stove off, too. Got a nice piece of wood, sanded it, painted it and it is a great counter for putting my gadgets on it and great place to store pans. Nice to know someone else did this. I bought the Cusimax to use all my pans on it but I like this PIC for determining temperature. Great video. ShotGunRed cooking show always uses their NuWave. Great demonstration--learned so much. I want one now!

As usual, a big thumbs up on your review. Love the silicone addition...... I just bought a 24" x 72" roll of silicone sheet from QVC for $20. Cut it to size, even has a 1" x 1" grid pattern on it....maybe not circular easy.... but a sharpie will solve that.

The rubber mat helps to protect the ceramic top surface of the induction stove from knocks and bumps caused by dropping the metallic containers on the surface.

I was hoping she would speak about the rubber mat. Does anyone know where to get one like in this video? Thanks.

The disk that let's you use non-magnetic cookware isn't aluminum, as you say it is. Aluminum doesn't work on induction. The disk is either iron or steel.

BTW putting a paper towel under the cookware will preserve the cooktop from spider scratches.

I do the same thing for my two "NuWave PIC 2" units (direct from NuWave in 2013) and the "nuWave PIC Gold" (from HomeDepot.com) I recently got: I built a single-piece wood platform ( a piece of 23/32" -- almost 3/4" thick OSB, but plywood woudl also work), spray-painted it a matte silver (to look more like a "kitchen color" and blend in better), then cut a piece of clear Lexan (a polycarbonate thermoplastic) to fit it (for easy cleaning) and finally the PICs on top of that...I leave them sitting there usually vs. using the platform as counter space/prepping. I probably won't ever be using a standard eclectic stove again...maybe not even a gas one (as good as gas cooking is) since for me, induction works fine: I like its energy-efficiency and not heating up the kitchen unnecessarily, especially in Summer months! -- BR

Hi, Informative vid but, it would be helpful to see you. And if your going to put a vid like this, Why would you not cook something using the unit?

Where did you get the silicone mats? Do you use the mats while cooking sounds like a dumb question? I have two that I bought years ago one I gave to my wife and the other I gave to my daughter and they were never used so I’m going to start using both of them.

I got them on amazon. You can use while cooking. I have and have not.

I also heard if you add a strong, small magnet to the bottom of a pot or pan without a magnet should work with the induction stove. Is that true?
@ThirdStreetKitchen6 жыл бұрын
thundersnowstorm Oh interesting. I've never tried or heard that. Let us know.

You weren't actually Cooking with your magnetic Induction Pans but I wonder how often this 2nd Generation version runs the Air Circulation fan? My Original First NewWave runs the fan Loudly all the time it's on. That's regardless of the temperature setting and there's only one Speed. No Increase for higher settings.

do you still have this cook top and could you put a paper towel on the stove with a pot on top and cook to catch spill over... great video thankyou, also is there a noisy fan to cool it down?
@ThirdStreetKitchen5 жыл бұрын
Dave Fyffe yes, I still have this one. As for a paper towel it seems to me that it would get too hot directly under the pan for that but I’ve never tried it. There is a fan to cool it down, not too noisy to me but each person has their own idea of noisy I think. I do love this cooktop and still use it daily. I have two more as well now.
