LIU Brooklyn (my school) has a lot of Greek life activity. We recently just had a huge meet the Greeks event. You have to travel and download hop stop and figure out the subway system. New York is a beautiful place and you need to step outside of your comfort zone and see what my city has to offer. NY is a big place. Filled with lots of fun. Ask your roommates to take you to Webster Hall on a Thursday. You'll meet a lot of college kids there (well, all kinds of people actually lol). You have to be open minded enough to explore this city is a melting pot and you just have to be open minded enough to explore the city and take a chance.

I will never understand why people say NYC is "unfriendly". I'm from Staten Island, but I go to Baruch and I've met some of the nicest people coming to school in Manhattan. It's very competitive, yes, but it helps you grow as an individual.

So very proud of you Jayla!!!!New york is rough I too attended an HBCU as well then went to Fashion School in Cali.After that experience I decided to move to New York and the transition was very difficult.When you were saying that it is very dirty and etc I was like yep shaking my head. You will figure it out just take it one step at a time and continue to ask the Lord for direction.Your brave and you are such an inspiration for so many others that follow you and are rooting for you.Im praying for you my young Sista!!!!Be Blessed and Keep Shining✨✨✨✨

I love your current season of vlogs because it is so interesting to see what its like living in a section of New York.. but low key I miss when you were at your old school, snowed in, chilling with Dominique, i always feel you when you basically say you miss your old school. But there are different seasons of life, God has a plan for you and there is a reason why you are there currently, which you won't find out till later. Make the best of it now (which you are doing already)

I admire that you came to New York to pursue you're dreams because it is not an easy thing to pick up from a life you've grown comfortable to. You're having such a great on campus experience, my roommates were wild (after my 1st year - I got my own apartment)! When I lived on campus at FIT 2Bros $1 Pizza, 7/11, & Taco Bell was LIFE! And GIRL just wait until them temps drop to 50's & 40's and then the snow - bless yo lil' heart 😂! I'm from the dirty, dirty, south (New Orleans) I've been here 4 years and STILL adjusting! If you haven't already you should go to Lot-4-Less (it's like what we call Big Lots) or Jacks 99c Store it's walking distance from you (33rd & 7th). You can get organization stuff from there or just anything for your dorm for cheap in Manhattan at least. I can't wait to see your vlogs when it's start snowing, I plan to introduce vlogging to my beauty channel before the drastic weather change too.

You know I wanted to tell you FIT wouldn't be the same experience, but I wanted you to experience it for yourself. There is absolutely no college life. In Fashion Design I barely had time to sleep, let alone GO OUT anywhere. NYC is such a rush and you work extremely hard to pay this expensive rent girl. That's basically how it is for the most part. I am sure you'll find fun soon! Praying that God will guide you and give you encouragement when you need it.

Jayla these vlogs have helped me so much, especially the message at the end of this video. I've endured quite a struggle with my academic career and will return once accepted to FIT fall 2016. Who you are and what you want to do in life will be different at 18, different at 21, and different at 30. It's called growth baby. Nothing wrong with it. Almost everyone goes through tho little confusing/stressful stages. Just relax and go with the flow for now. All things fall into place.

Im from New York and I love it but it gets annoying sometimes lol I wanna move eventually thou lol. and gurl grocery shopping in manhattan cost an arm and a leg there and since FIT is in manhattan you really have no choice but the other boroughs are cheaper especially bronx cuz we have those little asian markets that have it for wayy cheaper and even supermarkets are wayy cheaper than manhattan.

Hey Jayla, I have been watching you for quite some time now on the YT and it is really great to see how you have evolved as a person. I know you are still having issues adjusting but continue to give it more time. Me being someone who lives right by NYC, I could def see you living there., you are very creative, innovative and impressionable. Being in NYC it would def jump start your career if you decided to continue with makeup ,fashion, or anything in that area. But again it is who you know... and being that you have this YT platform I am sure you will come across the right people to point you in the direction that you need, even if staying in NY is not what u desire at the end. Yes NY is hella expensive what many ppl do is live on the outskirts where it is a bit cheaper, with that said keep doing what you are doing, and I am sure God will show you the best steps to get what ever it is you desire. OMG I know exactly what you are going through! I am 20 and about to turn 21 in December. After 3 years of college I still don't know what I want to do, and I transferred to a new college this year in a big city so I know about the constant sirens and horns. Hopefully things will get better for both of us. Stay strong and keep praying! God will give you direction!

So glad I found your channel. Don't stress yourself out about changing your mind about what you want to do, because even in 10 years you'll still have that struggle, we all do! You are so successful already, so give yourself some credit, and continue relying on your faith in God.

Omg my birthday is November & I'll be turning 21 too! Not much to do where I'm from, but I'm going to make the most of it. Kept pushing & striving Jayla.... You're bound to do great things.

JAYLA, That sit down talk at the end was THE REALEST advive you could EVER give about college!!!!! I lived it. and I know people who did not live that because they came to college absolutely SURE about what they wanted to do. College is WAYYYYY TOOO expensive period (no matter where you go) to be wasting your TIME and MONEY at a premiere (its all in the name) university tying to figure yourself out! I went to UMASS _ Amherst as an Out of State Student struggling through the same thing you were explaining. After one semester, I returned home to maryland and went to my local community college. I now have earned a scholarship there and wil be transferring to UMD - CP in the fall of 2016 ( and I know you know what that is becaise you went to UMD college too!) Anyway, that isnt exactly the full story but Jayla... YESSS... Amazing advice! And for anyone else who reads this... IF YOU ARE UNSURE AS TO WHETHER OR NOT YOU CAN AFFORD UNIVERSITY PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I BEG OF YOU CONSIDER YOUR LOCAL CC! I promise you wont regret it. ANy questions feel free to ask!

@25 minutes when you talk about knowing what you want to do one day and then a few days later feeling a little shaky is exactly what I go through.. For me it's more so fear of the responsibility and the work load that I will have working as a nurse& the many leadership positions that I put myself in today (that I somehow can't escape from but has chosen me).. But being passionate about something is the first step and I just continue to pray that Christ keeps me and leads me (as you've mentioned you do too!). Know that you are not alone, I am a college student that will be 21 next month (oct.) and am thinking about the same thing! Keep God first and you will always be okay ❤️❤️ You can do this!
