From 2008 to 2013 Zac Brown couldn’t miss. “Highway 20 Ride”, “Sweet Annie” but “Toes” by far is his best and most enjoyable song.

The song tells the tale of a traveling musician who heads back on the road chasing his dreams. In doing so he leaves behind the woman who loves him. Later on, he starts having second thoughts and returns to her but it isn't long before the urge to roam overtakes him again. ZBB fiddle player Jimmy De Martini told The Orange County Register: "It's more of a ballad, but it gets really big towards the end. It's about the life that we live now - leaving loved ones to be gone on the road, and (how) some people have trouble holding on to relationships and some people miss being home. It kind of goes through what a musician and traveling person goes through.

My uncle was an interstate truck driver, and this song fits him to a T. He passed about 25 years ago, and this song always makes me think of him

The man was coming home to her but was lost in the blizzard. He fired off a shot with his gun, she heard it and went searching for him. When she realized she could not see well enough to find him, she went back to the house and started the barn on fire. He was then able, because of the fire, to see his way home and she met him as he came out of the woods. I think that he was a drifter who always felt like there was more to see and do out beyond where she lived. He would go off and he always had excuses for not coming back, hence the term colder weather. This one time he was at a truck stop drinking coffee and the waitress reminded him of his lady and he realized what he was missing. That was when he tried to get back to her. Some parts of the video really do not fit the words but that is how it goes sometimes. Thanks for being honest. It is a rare trait these days but one in which I admire beyond words.

I alway think of a guy that is either playing emotions or fear of commitment. Many others see it as trucker or traveling worker. A few interpreted as holding on after death, when the deceased would have wanted you to move on. ZBB has another song that hits hard, "Highway 20 ride". Wrote after Zac and his wife split.

Aww... this is a nice song. Reminiscent of 90's Garth Brooks when he was country =) I think the song is about him traveling for work (singer); the line "I'm a rambling man" touches back to the song "Please Come to Boston" (Dave Loggins) where there is a line in the bridge of that song that goes "rambling boy why don't you settle down...". So, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be about his traveling for music. I hope you too continue to look at each other that way even when you're both old an' grey 🤗 (p.s... I think pronunciation of pecan is regional--southerners say 'pe-Caan'--and I think people from North Carolina and Louisiana are the most annoyed with mispronunciations of the word--or do they call them pralines 🤔)

You gotta do ZBB on Austin City Limits with a medley of Free and Into the Mystic. Amazing! ♥️ I read about the meaning/ the writing of this a while back and I’m sure I can’t remember it all. I think it was written over a period of time, maybe a number of years. I think one of the band started it about a new relationship he was in and the difficulties in making a long distance relationship work. The video is pretty abstract although I just love Liam Hemsworth in it! And if you liked Chicken Fried you’d love Toes. They also have another I think you’d like with Alan Jackson, While She’s Walking Away. And in Mississippi we say ‘pe-con and you have to have pecan pie for the holidays down here. I make a delicious one! Pecan pralines too!

A "rambling man" and a "Gypsy" is a person who stays on the move and doesn't settle down. He loves the woman but just can't commit to staying with her even though he thinks of her when they're apart. The video and messed up lyrics makes the whole thing confusing.

Pretty sure this song is about a promiscuous man who doesn't want to be tied down to one woman even though he cares about this one particular woman. Hes not gonna stay around but wants to keep her hanging on waiting for him to come back around her way again so he can continue the cycle of using her. Being "Stuck in colder weather" is just an excuse hes using when he's in other towns with other women.

I think Lysi didn't like it because of the lyrics. Kinda like Sugarlands "Stay".

I believe the woman died. He's dreaming. That's why it appears weird in the video. I Love this song. Just my take.
