Man, I want to get involved and help with this but I’m swamped with work right now. I used to work for Bose doing software for their headphones. A lot of it was stabbing in the dark because it was difficult to get the engineers to ever explain how anything was actually supposed to work. This is great progress!!!

Very nice app. I also am interested to see your results with ABS and SRS modules. The European vehicles are difficult to interface with, due to differing pinouts on the OBD2 connector. I am subscribing and I will keep checking back for updates.

Great stuff Sir. Going to try the app on my Caterpillar. Have any insights into Cat’s data? Techs have said they routinely use OBT2 scanners to read live data when they don’t have a Cat ET laptop with them.

Im wanting to be able to design a scan tool that I can program modules with... if that isn't possible because of proprietary software, atleast make a basic scan tool with all function tests. Look foward to what you bring to the table. I am following a few peeps doing the same. Be nice to get a community focused on just this subject.

gmtd scan tool, is software i use for obd 1 1995 chevy k3500 6.5 diesel. can shut off cylinders and change trans gears. only uses a obd1 cable to usb. why even need a dongle? seems like the elm 327 chip is the bottle neck so just use a laptop instead

Can i use this app to find pids? Like the trans temp and could give me the whole equation? Having trouble finding custom pids for my car

have you seen this thread? what you're trying to write an app to do, I believe the app side has already been done. torque app will send all the commands and tons of pids have been found. the extended ones. like I can read hybrid battery voltage. the bi part is in the header that you send. mode 1, 2 and so on. the hard part is sniffing out the pid location to add to the app. that seems to be done by using a splitter on the obd2 port, running a terminal app and watching the data steam while you do stuff either things in the car like gear shift, or on the other scanner. like a tech 2 hooked up. I already have a tech 2. none of this about spending the money for me. I'm just dying to find the pids so I can add them to the phone app for easy viewing and daily use. not really repairing stuff. like say you want the air bag psi of your self leveling suspension when you're towing. to make sure your tongue weight isn't blowing out the bags. it's all there in the tech 2. just can't get the data out of it yet. need to record the commands. gmtnation.com/forums/threads/more-pids-for-torque-app.20176/
