While attempting to repair a downed drone in the underground ruins of a building, Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is attacked by Scavs.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A solitary drone repairman working on a war-ravaged planet Earth becomes humanity's last hope for survival in this ambitious sci-fi epic from Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes producer Peter Chernin. In the distant future, planet Earth has been decimated by an intergalactic battle against an alien race known as the Scavs. The majority of the mankind has been evacuated, leaving just a few solitary drone repairmen remaining on the planet's surface. Their job is simple - stand guard over the ruins of a once-great empire by patrolling the skies, and ensuring the drones continue to function. Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is nearing the end of his mission to extract resources essential to the survival of the human race when he witnesses a spacecraft fall from the sky. Upon investigating, Jack discovers the capsule contains a mysterious woman. I like how each sound the drones make communicates something specific about its current activity state: the bellowhorn announces their presence, then if they detect something hostile they make that loud, abrasive sound right before they go on the attack, and then when they've finished their attack, they play those two loud, low tones. They also play a quick, two-toned chime that's meant to prompt one of the Jack Harper techs to identify himself - as they're the only humans that have any business on the planet, as far as the drones are concerned, if the response that follows their demand for identity is followed by anything BUT some variation of "Jack Harper, tech #", then kill it immediately. If it is, a tech, then they play a tone to indicate they're running a self-diagnostic to ensure the tech is completed with whatever needs fixing. If yes, then the drone leaves. If no, then the drone lowers to the tech's reachable height level and plays tone to indicate to the tech that they've entered a mode that allows the tech to work on them without taking it as a hostile act.

It's funny that the designers did such an amazing job on those drones that they are easily more disturbing and scarier than anything Terminator and other sci-fi franchises managed to present. I'd rather face 100 Terminators than that thing.

Its also because of the specs, terminators are restricted to human speed and on the ground, these drones can fly and even break the sound barrier, they are about the size of an adolescent human, and they have built-in one-hit plasma guns This thing can kill you faster than any terminator

I really wish they were aliens too. The whole story plot of them actually being humans fighting against the real enemy, who are the actual aliens just pretending to be human, is really cliche. After finding out that they were human I got pretty bored. The only thing that kept me interested after that was the amazing visuals, sound design, and the attractive women. I know THAT sounds cliche but it's true.

I think the reason they move weird was to try and confuse the drone, but as we can see it doesn’t work very well. I think it’s would’ve made more sense if it affected the drone’s accuracy or targeting time, cause the drone still aimbots them.

The first drones would chew up dozens of xenomorphs. Eventually the Aliens would learn, retreat and then adapt to the drones tactics. They would draw them in and collapse a floor on them, or use a human as shield so the drones couldn't target properly.

These machines have SimCity technological hacks, antigravity, laser weapons. Simple straight forward beamed down executions clean kills with bullets and bullet spraying. Guns also tracked, including biometrically.

@@jamesmnguyen Agreed, I have only ever seen this movie once as a kid with my dad. So I never caught onto the little details like that. Adult me just kinda came back to revisit this film, and experiencing it as an adult was an entirely different mindset.

Там дальше по фильму было сказано что люди для шифровки переговоров использовали скремблеры, отсюда и такие странные звуки. А сразу подойти не могли потому как его боялись, поскольку он не знали тот это механик за которым они наблюдали или другой. Потому что первыми кого высадил ТЕТ в качестве "пушечного мяса" для завоевания Земли, и это были многочисленные клоны того же Джека.

Never understood why they couldn’t/didn’t put a lift handle for jack to hold onto at the very bottom of that flying machine, to lift him out of there. Seems like a common sense thing to do.

The 'scavs' were probably normal people who was simply running from a regular enemy clone soldier/technician (Jack 49). Then they curiously stare him because is rare to watch a lonely clone.. Amazing plotwist
