After many months of work, I've finally been able to take Lost Pearl out for a sail on the ocean. This is a rather short episode with some scenes from that sail and a brief introduction. Enjoy!

I am enjoying your videos of Lost Pearl. The Hardin design is one of the best for live-aboard and cruising. My wife and I lived aboard a 1977 Hardin 44 (hull #7) for 12 years. We cruised all of the Southern California Channel Islands and spent 6 months in the Sea of Cortez. I "kick myself" for selling the boat, but that was back in 1990. I look forward to sharing your adventures on KZfaq.

Yay! Another Hardin owner, even if former… lol. I hope to meet up with a few more Hardins in the Sea of Cortez over the next several months. Thanks for watching!

Great camera work, I really liked the drone footage between the head sails.

Wave Rover?!? Cool! Thank you so much. Not a drone though. A 360°camera on a 3m long pole. The pole is in the camera’s blind spot. Have had some great ideas from your channel.

@@OnnoKok I will be trying the camera on a long pole idea. Thanks
@OnnoKok2 жыл бұрын
@@RoversAdventure I’m using the Insta 360, One R. It automatically removes the pole. If you watch the beginning of my tour video you can see a good use there too.

Very nice. I think you might sheet in the main a little and the mizzen a little more. I can see them backwinding a bit.

Where are you? She’s just beautiful under sail! Bro, you should be soooo proud! I’m an old dude, and a veteran of the Great Lakes, and as that veteran, if your new to sailing, practice your hove to, it’ll save you a lot of grief as a short handed sailor Peace

Thank you so much! I’m currently in San Diego and heading south next week. I love heaving to. I used to do it on my little Enterprise in the middle of the Okanagan and have a bevy. I’ve done it a couple of times on Lost Pearl, but need to do it in heavier weather. Thanks for the input!

Sorry, I meant to say "Island Trader 45".

I see what you mean though. The Island Trader certainly has the same deck configuration as mine.

Just another quick comment: your boat was originally sold under the name of "Marine Trader 45". The Hardin 44 and 45 have a different deck and house configuration. Still the same hull design.
@OnnoKok2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! There was also the Voyager 44. I think it depended more on who sold it than who built it. Lol The boat still has the original purchase order onboard. Including what options were ordered etc. Definitely a Hardin. There is both the small and large window versions.

I’ve been enjoying your videos. Thanks for all the effort you put into making them. How do you get those shots without a drone?
@OnnoKok2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! For those “no drone, no problem” shots I use a 360°camera. It has a blind spot just at the base and that’s where there is a 3m long pole that I’m holding onto. Sometimes you can see the shadow of the pole in the shot.
