Deeply and truly, OMaM sings to the emotions in my torn spirit, bringing back the deep melancholy of my wandered soul. It breaks my heart, but mends it all at the same time. I love it, the pain that mends back my heart again. The songs, the videos are so deep in expression that it makes me soul scream both with delight and horror. Truly makes me feel like I'm home again, away from this reality that I'm so familiar of... Truly an alien indeed.

I am still so in love with this. I found it when I was homeless and my soul was truely broken, I just thought "if I die, just disappear.. no one would even know or care." I listened to this to make me remember that I DO matter, my feelings DO matter and I am a human being that deserves love and care. I still return to this song and particularly this video now- I am not homeless but I still struggle every day not to be. And still, no one else cares.... BUT I CARE ABOUT ME. I MATTER.

I just cried. As a 33 year old man, I felt pain from so many people engulf me and I am appalled that I am just this week learning these work of art videos exist. Black Water and the grandma made me tear up by beauty, but this... This made me weep in solidarity for my LGBTQ families and our different sufferings. Never have I before felt like I still had so much understanding I needed to give, and comfort I should be providing. Like my soul was caught doing what it knew it it shouldn't and now is overwhelming with gentle guilt and a calling, no, a purpose to exist harder than ever. I wept, and sobbed in my bed because the haunting lyrics and emotion that this person expressed to me was like a soft and divine punishment I couldn't deny, and needed. I feel better for feeling so much.

Of Monsters and Men is one of the most stylish bands out there. The words, the rhythm, the color, the actors, the singers, the directors: they all contribute so much to this. And it really shows in this video. This actor is so beautiful. He is magnificent and talented. You can feel the emotion of the song just being portrayed by him. And the band themselves, they manage to make music so stylish and remind us that it is still an art form, and that it should make us feel.

Whether or not he "plagiarized" it or not (strong use of words there DX) it was still deep and it isn't wrong for me to tell him that. I wasn't saying he was deep, I was saying that the line was deep, whether or not he made it up. It really doesn't matter so please chill out and try to be nicer.

This song. This video. This was the last video my friend, and mentor, liked on youtube. Around this time 4 months ago he committed suicide. He wasn't some "depressed" teenager, no, he was 23 years old and suffering from mental illness. He was a gamer and was a member of the national guard. He always gave me insights to philosophy and talked with me for hours about everything, from the meaning of life, to how man discovered fire. I miss you man. "Embrace fear, for a man who can look death in the eye, and accept him with a greeting and go with him, has achieved mental greatness." - Tyler Cooper. EDIT: Hello, I am writing this on July 25th, 2021. I want to address some things in this comment I made. The first being that if you are a teenager and, you are experiencing depression, please do not give up hope. I apologize to anyone I may have harmed with my words by saying “‘Depressed’ teenager.” Your life is worth living and I promise you, it does get better. I’ve been through quite a bit in the past 5, almost 6, years and I want people to know that it does get better. I still miss him to this day and I still think about him every day. He still motivates me to think for myself and challenge my previous beliefs. Cooper truly was one of the best people I have had the honor of knowing in my life, and my GOD do I wish he was still around to say hi and have philosophical conversations with me, especially because I am now actually reading philosophy on my own and thinking on my own. I would like to imagine that he would be proud of me and the person I’ve become, but the sad sad fact is that I will never know. I miss him and I miss his smile. I miss him so much. Please, if you are considering taking your own life, do not do it. There are so many people who love you and care for you. Please PM me or reply to this comment if you need someone to talk to. I am always here for anyone. If you would rather talk to someone else then please do not be afraid to reach out. If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts or self harm please call 1-800-273-8255. Help is available and things do get better, I promise. P.S. thank you for everyone’s kind words, they truly do mean a lot

+So Hysterical I am deeply sorry for your loss. These words may prove to mean little, and are handed out all too often. However, these words, to some, may prove to mean quite a lot. I don't know you, and I don't know your friend. But, I truly do mean these words. And even if you don't appreciate my words, and even if my words serve only to infuriate you against all the hard and cold things in life, especially something, so often too cruel, such is death, I will still say them anyway. What more can any of us hope to offer in the face of such a rigid, and too commonly merciless tragedy, such as death? Even so, so long as there is even the tiniest chance that my words had even the slightest chance in doing you the slightest amount of good, then I would gladly say them a thousand times, in the hopes that they get through to you even one time. And one other thing, that just came to me as I was pondering these words. There is one other thing that I can offer you. That thing, is a wish. A wish that one day two friends, that were as close as you two were, so close that I myself could only dream of such a strong friendship, will meet again. I truly wish that you two meet again someday. So, hang in there, okay?

in most of the videos for this album the performer tends to direct their performance around or away from the camera, then at the end making direct eye contact, which is very powerful, for example in Crystals where at the very end, after the music is all but gone, he looks directly down the lens and for the first time in the video fully opens his eyes, then smiles gently. like, chills every time. here, however, most of the performance is directed at the camera throughout the video, until as the song ends he looks away. this parallels what I think the story of this video is. it's someone who has been cast out/told they're a freak by society finally demanding to be treated as a human. but, as the anger of the moment passes and they begin to reflect on what they said, the shame that they've been conditioned into comes back through and they can't bring themselves to make the eye contact they were so confident in before. also, I'd just like to point out to any that missed it the little head shake and raised shoulders at "I am a stranger, I am an alien," because it's an incredible bit of performance

This music made me cry without me paying atenttion to the lyric, so I came back and start paying atenttion and I saw why it made me cry... It represents exactly how I was when I had depression and almost tried to find answers in suicide. The drag queen singing was so strong, so emotional, so passional, it made me tear up all again. This music is strong for a lot of reasons, and the best lyric video of all Of Monster and Men

This song just encourages me to keep loving who i'm becoming. Knowing that my identity is found in something way bigger than anything we can fathom. Perfect love casts out all fear. 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment..

I don't care what anyone says, this video is so full of emotion and heartache. It made my eye water and the message that you get from it is true. As you can tell from some of the horrid comments. Not everyone is accepted in this stupid society but those who try to be true to themselves get laughed at even though they are trying to be true to themselves. I think he was so brave to do that and I think he was amazing. The emotion he showed was so beautiful. I can't express into words how mesmerising and beautiful it was. Some people may think I'm being dramatic but the lyrics and the video was absolutely perfect. No hate please just stating my own opinion if you don't like it move on thank you

I’m so sorry, Cora. I’ve been pretty isolated for about ten years (I moved and have been sick since age 11), but I have my parents and brother, and they’re really what have kept me here. I can’t imagine the strength it would take to not have them. I know you don’t know me, may not even see this comment, so it can’t count for much in the grand scheme of things, but I hope things get better for you. I hope you find some kindred spirits to walk through life with, even if it’s just for a while, and it helps all of your walks be easier. Keep fighting and advocating for yourself; you’re worthy of all the love and respect in the world. Hang in there. 🌷

You are loved, Cora, deeply loved. The real you who perhaps you have not shown to anyone in years, and perhaps are afraid to show (as many of us are) - you are loved. I know it sounds cliche but I promise it's not - Jesus loves you deeply. He knows you better than anyone else and wants you to know Him too - I pray that you will find Him and His healing, connecting love. He is not far from any one of us, if we only ask Him to open our eyes to see Him I write this not in any way to "preach", only because I know what it means to experience Jesus' love and I wish that wonder for you and everyone else too

I really love this song. And I love the music video too. It's so relative to me revealing my queerness to my mom and my stepdad. They both are Christians and so it was really awkward. This song explains it perfectly. They constantly bug me on how I should be straight, but being queer isn't a choice. The only choice there is the choice to be happy. I'm happy the way I am, but it also hurts knowing that I can't make my family proud because of who I am. I'm proud that I told them, but hurt because they don't support me with this. I really hope it gets better soon, but for now, I'll go on strike by singing this song as loud as I can. ;)

I just finished crying several minutes ago with my brother, because I'm also queer. I was asking him how could I deal with that self-hate I feel for not feeling identified with the body I was born with and how am I expected to act. After listening some other songs, I remembered this one. I am happy I found it. I wish you the best, because my parents are also strictly religious, and I got tired of playing the heteronormative girl they expect, when I've never been one, and it has been an act I put oftenly, when I feel I should, when society and family expects it.

I had a cardiac arrest for 27 minutes twice, during which I had a stroke . I then fell into a coma for 6 weeks on life support and they didn’t think I was going to survive. They called my mom and told her that they were keeping me alive long enough for her to get there. But I didn’t die. I survived and I went to rehab to learn how to walk and talk and eat. I listened to this song on repeat every day and once again, I survived. This song got me through it.

I don't know if someone will relate to it, but I've been reflecting a lot about several random things during quarentine. I listen to OMAM since they released My Head is an Animal, but somehow it became kinda "invisible" to me how good they are. I mean, I never stopped listening to them at all, but it became something quite automatic or whatever. But now I've got time to go back to some older habits. This, fortunetely, is one of them. This band is awesome in all senses. Lyrically, I've never felt something so deeply, and their melody takes me to some place where I'm away from all chaos and bad things in the world. I literally feel like I'm in icelandic lands, but yet I can see the suffering from others, especially in songs like this. Things that only OMAM can offer. Thank you for existing and for having some of the best fans out there in the music industry, guys. Real people with real hearts, real souls and real humanity. You never cease to amaze me.

i love this-- i personally think it's about being transgender, and in general feeling like you don't belong in your own body, or like your body doesn't represent who you are inside. my opinion of course derives from the appearance of the actor in the video, but this is not the sole factor. if you listen carefully to the vocals, you will obviously be able to tell it's a female voice singing-- however, some parts have a small male voice in the background. in my opinion, this whole song is coming from inside, and the female voice is the loudest, rather than the male voice. "if i could face them" ; sort of has a dual meaning to me, like "if i could face my family and those around me about this issue" or "if i could face my feelings about myself and the fears i'm holding inside" "i am a stranger, i am an alien inside a structure" ; is like them saying their thoughts and the way they feel do not belong in that body. they're a stranger to their own body because they feel like it is not their own, or the two don't belong. the rest of the chorus (to me) represents sort of the fragility, self-doubt, and in general the fear that comes with these feelings. this is just my interpretation-- and i know some may get offended that i'm talking about being transgender when i am not trans myself, but i have friends who are, and who have so courageously told me about their experiences. with that, i know that not all trans individuals have the same feelings or general experience, but i feel like "feeling like you don't belong in your own body" is something that many of them do feel. i love and support all individuals, and i can only hope that if you are transgender that you are able to one day find the courage to come out and tell everyone about who you really are inside and how you'd like to supported and referred to as. . . never be afraid to be who are, or to ask people to respect that !!!

Please don’t hate on me but I don’t approve of transgenderism (although I love the person in the shell). I translate this song as facing self doubt from a point along your experience with it. I see it as “I’m not good enough, but if I could I would apologize to everyone for being me.” The struggle the person is going through is a reminder of how unnatural it is to hate yourself. Remind yourself that you are beautiful. You are a person and are so full of worth.

I think what I love most about OMAM and other bands like it (Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, Milo Greene, etc.) is that they can take something as simple as a song and turn it into this complex and beautiful art form that tells a deep and multifaceted story of what it means to be human. Stories that speak of love and loss and pain and wonder, stories that are dark and melancholy and that are beautiful and joyful. To me, this is what being an artist is really about, not just seeing how many different ways you can say you sex.

This is already such a powerful song, but the way that actor portrayed the feelings......man, just....breathless

What a supreme performance by this drag queen. Using only her hands, arms, and body from the shoulders up. I'm for a loss of words to describe how expressive she is.

This person is so beautiful, so emotive, and so permanently burned into my mind that I see them every time I hear this song even if I'm looking at something completely different.

I cry every time I listen to this song. For 4 whole minutes I don't feel alone, I feel like there are others who understand what I feel on the daily, and for those 4 minutes I can let go and forgive myself for being human.
