This song describes perfectly that "beastly" emotional side of you that can get out of control when someone hurts you and make you feel devastated and torn apart. And agony of trying to control it and trying to let go. Well, I say, don`t control it. If something hurts you and you feel the need suffer, then do it, you have the right to it. Don`t cage that animal, that will only make it more dangerous. You don`t need to tame the beast, and it will calm down on its own when you realize you have something else, something more within you that the ones who hurt you cannot take away from you.

I don't think it's its intended meaning, but I always listen to this song when I'm feeling anxious. The rhythm (not too slow, but not too fast either), the images it paints: the caged beast, "breathe in breathe out, let the human in", are exactly the things I need to hear to calm down. But I think one of the beautiful sides of music and art in general is that everyone gives it their own interpretation. Thank you, this song has really helped me a lot ❤

Mark my words... Of Monsters and Men will be remembered as one of the greatest bands ever existed. Those kids have too much passion for what they do and you notice it right away. It seems that their debut album was made from a band that already had a 10-year-experience sense. And this new album just started to make their sound more mature and focus on what they want to achieve. Quoting Noel Gallagher when referring to The Smiths (as now I refer to OMAM), "they are a really great band...I mean, they are really, really, really, really great"

I come back to this video once in a while, and I'm astonished by the actor every single time. The way he portrays not only emotion, but, in a sense, a whole story only through his facial expressions is nothing short of bewitching. My favourite part is at 1:30. His expression starts by conveying worry, then is smoothly followed up by hope, some sort of expectation, into a sudden and momentary ectasy of the thought of "letting the human in", just to be overshadowed immediately by self-loathing for even having such a fantasy. Such a wide spectre of emotion is covered in mere 7 seconds. Pair that with the song and you have yourself a pretty darn interesting story. Of course, the way I interpreted the scene, as well as the whole video, could be way off the mark, but nonetheless, big kudos to Björn Stefánsson for making a great song into a darn mesmerizing performance.

I know I am about 8 years behind in finding this song and then video, but it has become very meaningful in the past four months since I first discovered it. Of Monsters of Men are truly magical songwriters and performers and their lyrics know how to mean something to so many. Thank you! I'm also blown away every time I watch it for the soul and character expressed in both the lyrics, and performance of the actor. Having looked into some of his other pieces now, too he's clearly an extremely talented actor, musician, and entertainer, and hats off to him in the range and commitment he clearly puts into every performance! Bjorn, it's clear you are singing your heart out in this video behind Of Monsters and Men's incredible song - if ever you release a version of this song sung in your own voice, we'd be honored to hear it!

I don't know what the original intent for this song is...but for me, it paints the perfect picture of what my life has been like living with depression and anxiety since I can remember. I really don't know how to explain it, but that's what the song's message is to me.

Ever since I discovered this group in 2015, I can't stop listening to them; their music speaks to my soul. As a 45 year old, I've been saying for quite a few years that there really just isn't much good new music anymore these days. Then these folks come along and restore a little hope for me. And I love them for that. I hope they never lose their soul or change what makes them special.

I'm thankful to have music in my life. It is one of the only things that provides me solace. Been listening to this on loops for a few days now because I had my heart ripped out. The woman I wanted to spent my entire life with was using me as entertainment and never cared for me. She saw me as an "adorable puppy" in her own words. I haven't felt so violated in so many years. Why can't I find love? Someone to understand me and share the same feelings? Hell...I just want a friend. That's all I've ever wanted. I've always been upfront about myself to others so having this happen is...not surprising but still painful. Each time I breathe with this song filling my ears I feel a bit better. Thank you.

His movements...angry, stiff, almost saddened but so full of something trying to be more than it ever could...it's like he's translating what it feels like to live with depression. I have symptoms of SOSAD and combined with being on the soectrum it makes me feel angry all the time, and with all the stress happening this past year I often feel like I have to hold it in. My dad's been struggling with depression his whole life and I feel like this is how he feels. Like someone trying to be more human bur he can't be because he's trapped in that feeling of constant smallness and anger. So stiff and effortful and sad and tired...struggling to remember what it feels like to be truly awake. Absolutely wonderful portrayal. These actors always speak to me. The twins, the woman in Black Water and the girl in Empire. But this dude...this dude's on a whole other level and I love it.

I'm in love with this style of music video, it just feels very raw and personal, yet still professional, and the songs themselves feel just the same. It's a perfect recipe with a beautiful result. Nothing short of true art.

When the words Weigh heavy on the heart I am lost And led only by the stars [Pre-Chorus] Cage me like an animal A crown with gems and gold Eat me like a cannibal Chase the neon throne [Chorus] Breathe in, breathe out Let the human in Breathe in, breathe out And let it in Plants awoke And they slowly grow Beneath the skin So breathe in, breathe out Let the human in The air is silk Shadows form a grin If I lose control I feed the beast within [Pre-Chorus] Cage me like an animal A crown with gems and gold Eat me like a cannibal Chase the neon throne [Chorus] Breathe in, breathe out Let the human in Breathe in, breathe out And let it in Plants awoke And they slowly grow Beneath the skin So breathe in, breathe out Let the human in [Pre-Chorus] Cage me like an animal A crown with gems and gold Eat me like a cannibal Chase the neon throne If I could only let go
