I'm taking YOU into the stores shopping for vinyl records WITH ME. You'll be there AS I FIND COOL RECORDS. I'll show you how I do it. How to find places to find vintage vinyl records. I'll show you what to look for. How to thrift for records like a pro. How to find cool used vinyl records for a fraction of the price. Much cheaper than Discogs. You'll be there as i find a bunch of great vinyl records at an Antique Mall. Secondhand stores can be a great place to find records for much cheaper than online.

That Manfred Mann album at the antique store brings back good memories. I was about 11-years-old, and a favorite aunt from the UP was staying with us for vacation. We went shopping at the local Kmart, and she said to pick out something for an early Christmas gift. Do Wah Diddy Diddy was a big hit at the time, so I picked that album. It became my third rock 'n' roll LP after "Meet the Beatles" and "Little Deuce Coupe" by the Beach Boys.

@@VinylHunter Wow, how 'bout that! Small world. Both my parents were born in the Copper Country, but never meet 'till they moved to Detroit while in their '20s. Other than a few distant cousins, my close relatives that still lived up there have passed on. But, I still visit the area every couple of years, usually during color season.

10:38 Wow, lots of lucky jazz finds, Tuco, and that Gene Krupa 'Drum Boogie' album for only a dollar is a real steal. I have that 'Drum Boogie' song on a 78 rpm record as part of a 4-record album set with a cool cover designed by Jim Flora who also designed lots of other great jazz album covers with his uniquely wild, wonky cartoony style (like 'Mambo for Cats' as well as albums by Andre Previn, Shorty Rogers, Louis Armstrong, Kid Ory, Sauter-Finegan, etc.) and one could even buy three volumes of books on Amazon featuring all of his album covers.

I love his album covers! I've got After The Riot At Newport and i think one or two more. I've told myself in the past that i need to keep an eye out for his covers...but I've got such a bad memory that i forget to do it!

Wow, some really great jazz titles at the first store in David City and a few others I would have grabbed to fill the glaring holes in my own collection. Woohooo! "There's a dead skunk in the middle of the road and he's stinkin' to high heaven." Some decent titles there, but the prices might have been a little steep on a few if they weren't in great condition, of course. I did see the binder for that classical series one time and it had all of the booklets inside of it. If they had Pavlov's Dog for a quarter before, it's always worth re-checking. That Gene Krupa album is great! Cool finds with Jerry Jeff Walker and The Hollies.

David City...the home of Rene Records. You'll want to keep an eye on the one I'll be showing in my next video! I've been to that St. Paul thrift store years ago & came out disappointed. I'm pretty sure that "antique" store in Utica just fixes/repairs antique furniture & sells it. And my ex is from Utica, so long story short stay away from Utica!!😂 They actually have a two lane bowling alley there if you can believe it. We're still in March?? Can't wait for my dad's cameo.🤣

Isn't it great when they have the best records cheap and the common LPs over-priced! I know what they did there - they overpriced the artists they knew and/or liked!... At the 2nd place those records also looked familiar to me but of course I was never there - typical thrift store crapola - the same selections are at my local Goodwill. Really nice jazz LPs you picked up!
@VinylHunter
@VinylHunter 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the thrift store selection looks the same everywhere you go, doesn't it!!! I see that so often (fortunately) where people price the familiar records high...but lots of better, unknown records get priced cheap!

Yeah, i usually do better out in the sticks where no one else is digging. It's harder to find records at thrift stores in the city because there's a lot more people dogging through them...BUT, they can be found in the city too...you just have to be very lucky and bee at the right place at the right time. You pretty much have to be at the store soon after they put them out. It's hard though because there are dealers that hang out at the stores just waiting for stuff to be put out!
