Some of the amazing records that I found at my local antiques mall are: •A 2009 German reissue of the 1969 Amon Düül II album “Phallus Dei”. •A Taiwanese pressing of ELO’s “Time” •An obscure Asian pressing of the Cars’ “Candy-O”.

Neligh is pronounced "Nee-Lee". 😉I have scored a few good ones at the Antique shop outside the downtown area. They used to have another one, which is now a fitness center. I found some clean ECM records, Zeppelin, Grand Funk, Beatles there once. I went to college in Norfolk so this is all familiar territory for me. Boardman's rarely carried records when I lived there, so kind of cool to see some. Looks like you found at least one Rene Records there with Pat & Barb. I would've grabbed that Irish Brigade, looked interesting. Sad to hear the old man passed away from that next stop. Had some cool conversations with him when I would stop in. Really excited to see what 45 promos you picked up!
@VinylHunter
@VinylHunter 2 жыл бұрын
I'd actually heard someone say NeeLee awhile back, so i should have known better. I always wondered about the other "R" in "Norfolk"! 😂 Don't get me started on how people pronounce Louisville! 😂🤣😂 I don't remember ever finding anything of interest in Norfolk, but i don't get there often. But, yeah, Burwell treated me very well!!! I'm sure there's a couple in there you're familiar with.

Awesome video...great stuff to be looking over your shoulder flipping. OMG...dude...you passed up Myron Floren Disco Polka??!! I would die. Also, I don't know if you have it, as you passed on it, but if you DON'T, you really need to pick up "Music Of The Islands" by The Mauna Loa Islanders. aside from a gorgeous cover, if you like Space Age Bachelor Pad music, you'll love it..three streel guitars, crazy zylophone action, an insane go-go rendition of On The Beach At Waikiki. It's iconic. I think you were supposed to pick up "Music To Be Styled By" or whatever...it just wouldn't stop appearing!

I missed a disco polka album!!! That's got to be a hoot!!! Didn't know about "Music Of The Islands"! It's tough sometimes discerning between Hawaiian and Exotica...I've only got a couple dozen Hawaiian albums, but If I'm not careful i could turn into the next Kaiwaza! 😮😂 Top Secret! Don't tell anyone!...but I'm seriously thinking about doing some live Thrift With Me videos! Then you could save me from making such big mistakes! I could be having a Disco Polka party right now!!!

38:02 Nice tease for the next video of awesome 45's. It takes a lot of extra patience to sift through 45's because they don't have the alluring covers of LP's, but when you find a lot of gems, it's worth it. I once sifted through 400 45's that had all been donated at once at my local Value Village and I put the whole lot into my cart right away, so I could take my time editing them down and in the end, I bought about 25 or 30 records for 99 cents each, but they were all in fantastic scratch-free shape and featured a lot of great tunes from the 60's to the 80's. :)

@@VinylHunter Exactly! That's totally my method too. Grab anything that could possibly be interesting (depending on one's individual tastes, of course) and keep them in your your cart to deter other thrift-hunters and then edit the lot down while keeping the albums that are in the best condition and/or the ones that are most intriguing. :)

40:41 Yeah, that's a great point about the old shrink wrap, Tuco, and like you, I'll keep the old shrink if it's in reasonable shape and if there are hype stickers attached, but otherwise if the shrink has really yellowed and doesn't enhance the appearance of an album cover when a brand new outer sleeve will do just that, it's worth chucking the old shrink wrap. Sometimes, I'll even cut out an interesting hype sticker and just keep it inside the album cover. :)
@VinylHunter
@VinylHunter 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've kept hypes like that too!...like with CDs, I'll cut out the hype and put it under the tray. I ALWAYS keep the hype! Once, i loaned my RSD Shocking Blue record to a friend...he returned it without the bag with hype sticker on it.......no more loaning out records!!!

Dang! I should have looked it up. I'm not really a fan so i never gave it a second thought. 90s records jump out at me because i was working at a music store at the time. It triggers a 'Homers Music' flashback to all the CDs we were selling at the time. I spotted a Garth Brooks record at a garage sale once because of that...I was like "hey, you never see that on vinyl"... That record was how i learned that 90s records were valuable!

38:35 That 'One Step Beyond' album by Harry Lubin was a lucky score indeed and I'm always on the lookout too for great space age exotica albums. Thanks, Tuco, for the tip regarding Ferrante and Teicher albums because the obvious ones with space age imagery are easy to spot and to assume they feature cool, spacey music, but one can overlook the less obvious albums, so I must make a point of looking at their albums more closely.

Too bad those sirens were just a false alarm. But it still pays to look. I went to an antique store yesterday, but the guy had no records. However, he did tell me about a cool record store on one of the side streets (that I never would have found without his help). Unfortuantely, it was closed (I just missed the store hours), but at least I know where to look the next time I'm through there, so it always pays to stop. That must be a prog song you are working on with all of the tricky meters. Caution, this video may cause seizures. That swirly cover is pretty trippy. That Pat Dixon cover must be one of the most tackiest covers ever. Great find digging through the records to come across Big Country. Just seemed so out of place among everything else that was there. Can't wait to see what you got in that stack of 45's.

Always good to find a new record store! There's 5 record stores in the Omaha area...3 in Lincoln....but i rarely go to them because after digging for records all week, I've had enough....plus most of my time when I'm not at work is spent working on my videos! I kinda miss the days when i could record and upload a video on the same night! But I'm really enjoying how I'm doing it now, so I'm not complaining!

@@VinylHunter Editing and working on videos is very time consuming, so I only do it on certain ones, or if there are artists that not many people have heard about. The last one I did was on Progressive Artists You Probably Haven't Heard Part 4 and it took a lot of time to do it and also wait for the program to convert it since it was somewhat long.
