The Sony fanboys can only think about hardware, they want Xbox consoles to go away. Shame it's not, we already know they're making a new one. Hell, I fully expect they're going to make a handheld to. The boss move to make would be to sell the Xbox OS to hardware makers like Asus/Dell etc, and let them make their own "Xbox" hardware.

And PlayStation is contributing to Xbox making billions. You know with that 70% cut from every Xbox game sold on the PlayStation? Yet Sony refuses to port any of their games to Xbox. PlayStation has nothing from 1st party until 2025 while Xbox has Hellblade 2, Indiana Jones and Avowed in 2024 and definitely will have stuff ready to go in 2025. It is pretty obvious which company is having a rough 2024.

These earnings are from the 3rd quarter which is before the xbox games that got ported to Playstation lol these earnings are from when xbox bought abk. Which means when the 4th quarter report comes out it will have the revenue from abk and from the xbox games Playstation gamers have bought so the earnings will be even more.

Money and time are finite resources. So every time a PS user buys an MS game, that means less money and time that the user has to play another game, reducing the chance that the PS user will buy a Sony game.

Also... they forget Starfield launched last quarter for MS, that boosted hardware sales massively. Of course without a huge game releasing in Q3 it wouldn't sell as many consoles. PlayStation sees this exact thing happen. This is what real analyst look at, cause and effect. Cause: Microsoft didn't ship a big 1st party game. Effect: Hardware Sales are down 31% Cause: Microsoft bought Activision. Effect: Gaming revenue up over 50%. And aren't we still talking about billions of dollars in revenue in 3 months here? HOW THE FUCK IS BILLIONS "BAD"?!?!

People are so dumb. Xbox literally made $100M more net profit than PlayStation did in 2021. And PlayStation had 60% higher gross revenue. Xbox sells less consoles but makes more money, this has been true for a few years. Obviously even more true now with ABK.

A couple things on dollars here... 1. Didn't Sony claim the increase in game prices was to help fund the increased price of modern development? Then after that, they have zero games for 18 months? Hrm, huh? 2. I find it bizarre, how every single console generation, all these "geniuses" predict doom/gloom halfway through the life-cycle of the console, because console sales are down. Practically, that far into the life-cycle, most peeps that wanted the console, have it. So it's *natural* for those numbers to go down -- even PS console sales are down. Let's put it like this. If you have 10 potential customers, and you sell a product to 8 of them, then later on, the final 2 buy the product, everyone that wanted one, has one, but it'd still appear on paper as sales down 75% If anything, it should be viewed as perhaps amazing that they're not down even more, and still selling. Especially since I think it was revealed in the ABK suits that the next console should release in another 3 years, 2027? 🤔 PS - And it could always be worse... they could be halfway through their life-cycle, and not have any games for over a year... that's not the position a company wants to be in. 😎

And what people are forgetting, if the ABK deal did not go through, MS/Xbox would have done things strategically different to hopefully increase revenue in xbox without the ABK deal. They would have probably tried different things before porting over some stuff to ps5 and switch, or at least would have waited a little longer and did more 3rd party deals, and probably would have already by now tried purchase something else or a handful of studios to boost things up and to create a better value for their players. And ...for real... HOW MANY TIMES DOES OUR GIRL SARAH HAVE TO COME OUT AND STATE THEY'RE MAKING ANOTHER XBOX.

To be fair a lot of Playstation "exclusive" games that come out on PC are for the most part still optimal to play on the PS due to how poorly optimized the games are for PC. But yeah, PC will always be the way to go either way.

These ponies are so focused on hardware sales that they can't see/understand gaming revenue up 51%+62% and MAU is still rising YOY. Plus there's not much, if any, profit on hardware sales. Xbox is still going to make consoles as long as there is a demand for it. It's also one of the gateways into to ecosystem. I wouldn't be surprised if the next console is closer to a "pre-build pc like" box, so development is more universal and just easier scalable. They control the hardware and can also determine the performance "settings".

Honestly if Xbox released a powerful handheld device that has steam library and emulator ability I'd buy it, but in the meantime im enjoying the games being on PC. The only reason i haven't bought a steam deck is cause of price and im waiting on an Ally model that has the SD card slot in a different place so I wont have that card killing issue. But if Microsoft solves both of those then I'm in.

I doubt by this point in the gen that PS is losing money on the $500 PS5. The tech is old at this point. Xbox simply going 3rd party publisher isnt really anything mind blowing.

That's only up front, the consoles are expected to make a solid profit as manufacturing tightens up. So losses are expected early with snowballing profits in the later years. Manufacturing advances have significantly stalled though. The die shrinks and removal of redundancies that used to exist are just not showing up so they are not finding the savings on the consoles they used to. By year three they should be solid in profitability with year 4 starting the big bucks for the console manufacturer.

@@bosskey23 The tech may be old but it still uses the same materials as newer tech. The biggest savings on consoles were die shrinks and consolidation of the tech into the SoC. There has not been a significant reduction, instead they've been shaving weight and cooling on the console. The PS3, at this time in it's life, had removed redundancies, old chips, consolidated things into it's SoC, and had the die size reduced in half, on top of reducing it's physical make up and material costs / cooling. That's how it's price went down so low. It wasn't just because it was old tech.

@@vaguedreams i know, but the $500 PS5 was breaking even early in the gen according to Sony. PS didn’t have to go strong with their HW since they have no real competition in the console space.

I think Xbox is doing really well software wise, and could see them slowly moving away from hardware. As a publisher, they could really thrive. Kinda like Surface - Winodws does really well, while surface just kinda exists
