I did my DNA test and learned I'm Senegalese, Nigerian, and 10% European. I think as an African-american and Caribbean woman, i had this feeling that i would be rejected by ppl from African bc some AA said they were rebuff by them. AA have generational PTSD from slavery. It's a real thing! We're the only ppl that was totally stripped of our culture and had to build a new one. We really shouldn't be chastised about that, we're a resilient ppl.

Many of us from the North American shores have complicated backgrounds through caribbean, southern, african, etc etc. I've always been a fan of knowing it all since my family is Kikapoo and have held on to our family heritage and traditions that's always been paramount with me. know your tribe, know your lineage, know your ancestors, know yourself.

I didn’t get the opportunity to take an African Ancestry test but I did take Ancestry DNA. I have 44% Cameroon 🇨🇲 Congo & Southern Bantu Peoples and 33% Benin/Togo.. even though Ms. Badus tribe isn’t my own, I could relate to some of their characteristics so I thought that was cool
