Perfect! Good job! I used AKG C214 and 414xls respectively in my two videos, the microphone amplifier is Audient asp880 and Zildjian Bill Stewart sticks.

Great sound ! Sounds old already . Has that tremendous old K stick . Crashes trashy and definitely plays light airy. I like fundamental pitch ! Plays like a 22. My favorite part is the general wash spread and what I call an under wash . It’s great as it doesn’t wash out ! It is controllable which is key for me. The main wash is perfectly subtle which allows you to play it hard and soft to me the hardest quality to get right. The bell was just right especially when you played it with different parts of the stick. The customer made the right choice not messing with this gem! This will improve with age to me so why take a chance ! It’s already there ! The hammering looks great so even and down ward flange helps a lot in the control of such a light pice ! I don’t know how long you’ve been at this but your work speaks for it self ! Pleasure to listen to .I’ve owned 60 stellar pieces from the best cymbal smiths Spizzichino ,Skiba, Johan , Istanbul Ks and this cymbal could be used with many of those in sets !You should be proud as this is great craftsmanship here.

I always find it so fascinating how different the bell sounds then the rest of the cymbal, your version sounds a bit darker which I really like, the wash sounds so similar though and your stick definition seems a little bit more defined to my ears.

This is kind of what I imagine it would be like to take a time machine back to 1950, buy a K, then bring it back to 2024.

I hear ya! It’s easy to forget that the sound and feel changes (sometimes drastically) over the years. This one already sounds absolutely gorgeous, curious to see what it becomes over time :) great video Timothy!

Forgive me if I missed a video like this, but I think it would be cool to see a comparison video for your different standard series. I know you’re done lots of comparisons of different characteristics and that some of those characteristics correlate to what you offer as standard models, but I think a “typical” Landmark vs Prism of the same diameter, for instance, would be informative. As always, thanks for producing so many awesome videos!

Yours seems to be a good copy, let's say something inspired by the original but, thankfully, much more playable, defined, classy, old style but modern and ready to cope with the levels present these days on stage and the need for definition and sharpness without too much 'hum'. I couldn't play the original, it sounds too busy, buzzing, hectic and disorganised. I like the old look, the old sound style, the robustness of the original but hey, it's 2024! Once again, good job. Don't know how many cymbals you've sold in France but, Im more and more attracted by your work.

It’s crazy you post this video when you did. I’ve recently been obsessed w what I believe is an old K I found at a thrift store… did minor repairs myself (small crack) but the bell is both key holing and has cracks… an unfortunate thing but it still sounds amazing. Seeing this video gives me hope that maybe it can be recreated. How much would a project like this cost?

I agree Timothy, even Paiste, which has a reputation for good consistency from cymbal to cymbal with the same exact cymbal, even there you'll find a difference between one cymbal and another. How much more of a difference will there be with hand hammering, over hammering, lathed vs unlathed bells or underside, the aging process...etc. Drums are a whole lot easier to make consistently when it comes to sound replication, but even there many try to copy say an old Gretsch USA custom or Broadcaster set but they always fail to get it 100%. Just say no to clones! :)

PS I like you cymbal better than the old K's in the reference videos. Your cymbal has the old K vibe with none of the old K problems & limitations, and it's more versatile imo.

Older cymbals have a lack of body to my ear. Nice in every other way.
